Perfect holiday house for big groups or several families. Lovingly restored farmhouse and tasteful contempary barn conversion. The property consists of two living areas with their own sitting rooms, kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms. There are secluded, spacious gardens, with panoramic views over the valley and Chateau and a wonderful 10 X 5 metre private heated salt swimming-pool surrounded by wooden decking. The beautiful, mature gardens offer many places to sit with a glass of wine or a meal. Large games room with table tennis,dartboard, badminton, 4 mountain bikes and a toddler bike. Picturesque area, designated national park with great walks, fishing, kayaking and water sports close-by at Rouffiac and a new water park at Limoges. Local village of Jumilhac le Grand has a fairy-tale chateau, good resturant, bakers and a supermarket.

Home away from home in idyllic French setting

This beautiful farmhouse was the perfect stay for our weekend away in France with friends. The owners were lovely & contacted us before our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The property is spacious, charming and has all the facilities we required to make it feel like a home away from home, we cooked meals and enjoyed them in the gardens, and made good use of the pool, games, and mountain bikes - which were the perfect way to see more of the area while riding to the nearby village of Jumilhac.

We've stayed in many properties while travelling over the years, but this farmhouse and barn is a favorite, it has a special something that's hard to put into words. We highly recommend this property, and we would love to return again.

Perfect peaceful family getaway

We have stayed at Vaux several times both with groups of friends and family. It is a lovely and unique property in a spectacular location. There's enough to entertain in Vaux itself with the excellent pool and well resourced house(s) to completely relax and never leave, but the area is also well worth exploring. From picturesque châteaus to kayaking trips and traditional markets it's easy to get a taste of rural France from this very special spot.

Fantastic and beautiful farmhouse

We had an amazing summer holiday in Vaux the house is fully equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped enabling us to cook a wide range of meals. Excellent and wide range of leisure and play equipment for children. We spent many hours in the well maintained pool.

The accommodation had amble space for a large group with comfortable beds and plenty of seating for relaxing and dinning inside and out.

The surroundings are stunning great for walks and running. The local area provided us with lots to do and explore we especially enjoyed kayaking and visiting caves.

The owners were especially helpful during the booking process and contacted us before hand to ensure all our needs were met.

We would highly recommend for families and groups.

Gorgeous

Like a home from home, except much nicer than my actual home.

Beautifully decorated, in a crazily pretty location. Spacious and light. Great pool. Brilliant books everywhere. Smashing tabletennis table. Fast wifi. Everything you could need in the lovely open plan kitchen. Peaceful. It was a really glorious place to be during a heatwave!

Relaxing & Beautiful

We wanted to say thank you for such a lovely stay at Vaux. The house is so well equipped for the babies and children of our party that we could thoroughly relax and feel at home in this gorgeous house. Many a BBQ was had on the deck by the swimming pool- g&t's in hand. The local area has lots to offer; walks, canoeing, visits to 'les grottes villars' caves, shopping in the chic Perigueux and water ski-ing at Rouffiac lake. We will certainly be back!

Location

From the Owner

It is very peaceful and relaxing. The property has wonderful view and we have created a garden which is always a pleasure to return to and work on. The house has a liberating sense of space. Jumilhac, the local town 5 mins away is a great place to sit with a drink under its grand chateau. My partner and I were married in Jumihac as well as our younger daughter. All of our friends have spent holidays in Vaux.

Nearest Airport : limoges at 56 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Jumilhac le Grand at 6 Kilometres Nearest Golf : limoges at 55 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Jumilhac le Grand at 6 Kilometres Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

There is a lake-side beach c. 15 minutes away.

Horse riding and tennis (free) are available in Jumilhac.

Fishing is excellent and a temporary license can be bought in Jumilhac for access to the many local rivers and lakes.

Travel:

Nearest airport is 45 mins (Limoges), 7 hours from most channel ports, 8 from Cherbourg.

Distances:

Limoges and Perigueux are both approx 45 mins away. St. Yrieix and Thiviers are both 15 mins away. Jumilhac le Grand is 5 mins. Brantome is 30 mins away for river kayaking. The river Dordogne and its towns e.g. Sarlat are approx. 60 mins.

Further Details:

Local village of Jumilhac le Grand has a fairy-tale chateau which you can visit, museum, good restaurant, cafes, bakers and a supermarket, Also an excellent tourist information centre. The area also boasts several lovely traditional rural markets and also night markets, such as the Segur le Chateau event, which is held every monday night in season, with locally produced food and live music.

The area is known for gastronomie and has many excellent restaurants, such as Hostellerie St.Jacques at St.Saud and 2 near-by Logis du france at La Coquille and Sorges. Between La Cquille and Thiviers there is the beautiful chateau of Mavaleix where you can get a great meal in wonderful surroundings. The local town of Jumilhac Le Grand has a delightful restaurant with open-air eating under the chateau.

20 mins away is the Rouffiac watersports centre which has canoeing waterskiing / wakeboarding (wire system) on a large lake.There are many 'randonniers'/ walks on lanes, across streams etc very close to the property. There also broadband and WI-FI.
