About Joanna

I am a visual artist, passionate amateur landscape gardener and the builder of what in the future could result in a realized dream of living in beautiful surroundings in harmony with nature. I came here in 2010 and started the project with the reconstruction of the house and construction of the garden. Then I started the renovation of dilapidated small houses on the estate. This resulted in a small house / studio I now live and work in when I'm not working with the garden and preparing the big house before guests' arrival. Welcome.

Joanna purchased this villa in 2010

Why Joanna chose Ronda area

I fell in love with this place because of its beautiful surroundings, privacy and the city's genuineness. Here you are far enough from the tourist congestion on Mediterranean beaches and coastal cities, but close enough to the beaches and cities you want to visit.

What makes this villa unique

A farm/oliv grove of 1 ha in direct proximity to urban amenities (healthcare, banks, shops, bars and cafes, touris information) in the beautiful town of Cortes, yet, in the middle of nature. The garden is full of flowers, herbs and birdsong. The soft hills of olive groves echoes with the voices of grazing sheep while swinging in the hammock in the shade of the olive tree, or resting on a sun lounger on the veranda adjacent to the pool area or on the terrace with spectacular views wher you can see eagles circling in the daytime and at night watch the moon sink behind the mountains.

On the porch adjacent to the kitchen there is a masonry barbecue with dining area and all kinds of herbs on hand.

Exceptional location for explorers. Lots of intresting destinations nearby. Spectacular cork oak forests, caves with prehistoric paintings, rivers, amazing little white villages and proximity to exciting cities: Granada, Ronda, Cadiz, Seville, Malaga, Jerez de la Frontera. You can reach both the Mediterranean coast and the Atlantic coast between 40 min 1 hr.

For horse enthusiasts can hire with a guide be arranged.

Amazing mountains

  • 4 of 5

We traveled with three dogs and we stayed in villa 6 weeks to the end of January. Joanna and her dog Ozo were friendly hosts. The garden is a generous with mandarin trees and other fruits. Ozo played with our youngest dog and there where plenty of space to go around with the dogs. The casa was wonderful with very equipment kitchen and a washing & drying machine. There are two bathrooms, which is very comfortable, but the water pressure was a little weak. There is no curtains or shutters in downstairs, which bothers us a bit, because we are use to privacy. Wifi worked well enough and that was very important to us, because we teleworking. That period were very cold (in particular nights and one day there where even 10 cm snowing). We bought a pellets heating (4 €/15 kg, we used about 20 sacks) and gas to warm water (gas is quite cheap in Spain) and also we paid the extra money (150 €) for electricity. The rural village is a beautiful with very friendly people and there are also some shops where you get some basic food items. It was a bit hard to drive around, because the roads are narrow and curved. We have a 5,4 m long van and it takes us about 1 hour to drive for the first 30 km in any direction. The vehicle is must.

Beautiful villa and garden and the kids loved the pool.

  • 5 of 5

Even though we went in October, the weather was still hot and we loved the quiet rural village setting.

Lots of wildlife round about and a lovely welcome from Joanna and of course Ozo the dog.

Hire car a must.

Amazing property in an ideal location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday in this gorgeous villa. From the moment we arrived Joanna and her lovely dog Oso were fantastic hosts. Our boys aged 9 and 10 were in heaven whether splashing about in the pool or playing and relaxing with Oso! Cortes is a delightful small town with friendly locals and all you need for a stress-free holiday. Our football-mad youngest son practically lived at the local park and we got a kick from simply walking around the narrow streets. We sampled delicious tapas at Meson Los Monteros at the top of the hill near the property and ventured out on lovely long walks at the nearby Parque Natural Sierra de Grazelema, which boasts unbeatable views. But we could quite easily have spent all our days in Joanna's lovely villa. Surrounded by a mature, loved garden, Joanna let us pick herbs, tomatoes and fruit, which added to the fun of our numerous BBQs. The villa is comfortable, well-equipped and made nicer by Joanna's art which adorns the walls. We didn't want for anything and enjoyed every minute. It was hard to leave!

Our Perfect Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful two weeks relaxing and enjoying the beautiful garden and perfect house. Our ten year old son loved the pool and evening visits from Oso the dog. Secluded and peaceful with lovely views into the surrounding hills, yet only 10 minutes walk into the lovely town of Cortes.

Best holiday ever - perfect property

  • 5 of 5

We had the most amazing holiday. The property was beautiful - better than the photos on the website. The view from the veranda was spectacular and the house very comfortable. The pool was refreshing and fun and for more strenuous swimming we used the town pool which was enormous like a 5 star hotel. Wonderful tapas five mins from house. very cheap. We will be returning.
