Villa in San Pedro de Alcantara, Marbella, Costa del Sol, Spain - The Villa Is Peacefully Located In A Quiet Mountainous Area But Still Close To Shops, Restaurants

This villa, named La Fuensanta, is beautifully placed on a quiet wooded and isolated hillside in an old residential area with big and mature gardens but still close to the charming villages of San Pedro and Puerto Banus with their beaches, shops, restaurants and bars. Many high standard golf courses are within 10 min drive. The villa is recently entirely renovated in a careful and tasteful style. The villa and the garden with its "gated" private pool is on one level, so the villa is ideal for families with small children. Inside there are 3 double bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a living room, a dining room, two bathrooms, several TV´s and among them a TV-projector with a big screen, WiFi, laundry room and a studio. All rooms have A/C´s. All rooms have direct access to the beautiful grass-covered garden, which offers the private pool, sun decks, verandas and a water fountain.

The caretaker/gardener of the villa is living in a separate villa in the backyard. He speaks fluently English and he is available for driving, cleaning, cooking and lots of other things.

About Wilhelm Hemgren

My wife and I have just moved back to our home country, Sweden, after having worked in various countries for more than 25 years. We spend lots of our free time in our paradise in the south of Spain. We bought this beautiful home in San Pedro de Alcantara, close to Marbella, about 20 years ago. Both of us really love exterior as well as interior design and therefore our paradise has been under careful renovation for many years. We have three grown up children, who like us love the south of Spain with its wonderful climate, friendly people, long beaches, restaurants and bars and of course high standard golf courses.

Why Wilhelm Hemgren chose West Costa del Sol

We have a holiday home in this beautiful area near San Pedro since about 20 years. As our family is growing we bought this villa La Fuensanta during 2004 located in the same neighborhood. We love the location as it is situated in an isolated and peaceful area but still just 10 min drive to several beaches, to many high standard golf courses and to the shops, restaurants and bars in Puerto Banus, Marbella and Benahavis. Within reasonable driving distances there are also the ancient towns of Ronda, the historical Al Hambra castle and the ski resort Sierra Nevada.

You reach the villa by less than an hour´s drive from Malaga international Airport.

What makes this villa unique

The villa is built in a charming characteristic Andalusian rusticate style. It is newly completely renovated and includes all modern equipment, such as A/C in all rooms, kitchen and washing room facilities, several TV´s, a TV projector with big cinema screen etc. Climbing on a hillside the garden is very attractive but still the villa and the garden is on one level. The garden also offers an isolated pool, many sitting areas on verandas and sun decks and several old decoration details.

We can also provide you with a range of services, such as cleaning, washing and driving to and from shops, restaurants etc

" I would like to say "Thank You" from the Mitchell family for the rental of your property in Spain. We all had a great time - the group had 4 children who spent a week almost entirely in the pool! Hameed was most helpful and a delight to be around. I hope we get the chance to rent the property again - my wife and I particularly liked the multitude of areas to sit and enjoy all the design features! It is such a lovely spot and so easy to access from the airport and motorway - we even managed some trips out (when we could get the kids out of the pool), to Ronda, Tarifa and (of course) Marbella/Estepona.

Outside: The building is surrounded with a beautiful garden with many special details. The garden includes both a large lawn and a big stone tiled area with a private pool. The pool is 3.5 x 8 meter in size and beside it there are a sun deck with sun chairs and shaded sitting areas. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron, iron board, mangle. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included and will be changed once a week or more often if so required. Gardening jobs are done daily. Cleaning inside the villa is done weekly or more often if so required. Other: The dining room includes an indoor fire place, dining table and chairs for 10 persons, an A/C unit and a direct access to the garden. Also a studio is included which can be used for studying, computer games etc

Disappointing that most outdoor furniture was old broken and cushions were worn through and mouldy

Firstly there is an on-site caretaker who lives in a separate annexe building in the garden. He is not a neighbour as described in the villa details. He shares the same access as guests in and out of the property through the villa garden and past the pool. In fact his windows directly overlooked the garden sun terrace, so if you are happy sharing your space with the staff it is ok. But if, like us, you are looking for privacy with your family then this is not the place for you. We unfortunately called the owner upon arrival and a solution was found whereby the caretaker moved out (off-site) during our entire stay. Of course he attended to the pool and garden during our stay, which was perfectly acceptable. After this initial stress the next major issue was the poor quality of the outdoor furniture. Broken chairs, some in such a poor condition only fit for the bin. And also, mouldy, worn out chair and sun bed cushions. There is also a sofa and chair on the outdoor terrace in such a poor state you took no pleasure from sitting on them. When I raised the general issue of worn out mouldy cushions with the caretaker he said to put a towel on them! Also I was told to leave the TV projector switched on 24/7 as it was broken. Not an ideal solution if you are paying extra for your electricity usage. The top terrace shown in the photos with table chairs and parasol unfortunately only had an abandoned table frame lying on its side along side a parasol base, so needless to say we did not sit there. On the plus side the pool was great, very clean and well maintained, apart from the gap in the wooden decking by the pool steps, where my son caught his toe. This needs fixing as it could cause a nasty accident. In summary this villa has the potential to be so much more but not without some desperately needed renovations. I have communicated my feedback with photos fully to the owner by email but unfortunately got no response.

Owner's Response: This is the first time we have received a negativ review from tenants staying with us. It is correct that our caretaker lives in a separate building on the same ground as the villa. This has by earlier tenants been seen as a benefit as he is available for a lot of services, such as shopping, tidying up, driving, even cooking and more. We find the comments on the outdoor furniture and cushions very exaggerated. Anyway many of them are now replaced with new comfortable and stable chairs, tables and sunbeds.

perfect place for three generations

This property was perfect for us for the following reason:

1. it is a very beautiful property and both garden and pool well kept, clean and fresh

2. the pool area could be closed off for when the adults wanted some reading time while the children (4 and 6 years of age) played in the garden. We did not need to worry about them running off to the pool and falling in when we were not paying attention

3. there were many different options for our meal times, all lovely places to sit and enjoy

4. my son was thrilled to have the use of a barbecue grill for cooking our evening meals

5. a big screen was available for tv and movies, especially perfect for my grand children's perusal

6. a small local bar within walking distance and of course the charming beach in San Pedro not far away. the bigger, busier and glamorous Puerto Banus also a few minutes drive away.

All in all, we were very happy with our stay and all of us hope to come back one day

Supermarkets, banks, restaurants etc are available in San Pedro, Puerto Banus and Marbella. There are also a supermarket and restaurants within about 15 min walking distance. The gardener/caretaker lives next door. He speaks fluently English and is always available for washing clothes, cooking and with lots of other things.
