Romantic and comfortable Farmhouse. Pool-A/C-King-Queen-Full size beds. Only 35 minutes from Malaga Beaches.

The house is very spacious (200 square meters). Originally the house was the owners vacation home, therefore the house offers all modern amenities and great comfort. It has Air conditioning and a High efficiency fire place system for winter. Every room maintains its original beamed ceilings, doors, windows and original floor tiles on some of the rooms. The heart of the house is the kitchen. Beautiful farm stile large kitchen with wood ceiling beams. Connected to a very light sun room and interior patio. From the porch, you can enjoy the view of our white washed town (Alora), el Hacho and the blue mountain 'Sierra de Huma'. Walk or drive 5 minutes up hill behind the finca and you will enjoy the view of part of the Guadalhorce Valley. The property is all fenced in suitable for family with children. There is a small river within walking distance.

The property is all fenced in and very secure. Having Air-Conditioning will ensure your summer quality sleep even though the ceiling fans plus the Valley night breeze can be enough most of the time.

The furniture in the house is high quality and all the fixtures are first class. The decor and comfort of the house was designed over the years for the permanent enjoyment of the owner's family (not just a quick fix to satisfy rentals). You will enjoy antique furniture, prime fixtures like "King" and "Queen" size comfortable beds and all the real home comfort with a touch of romanticism and character.

The property is fully fenced, gated and very secure.

We are a small local Family Rental business in Alora, Malaga, Spain. My name is Francesca Carrasco. Our properties belong to my parents and other members of the family. They all live in Alora.

Great place for climbers, hikers & mountain bikers.(March 31/13).

We had a very pleasant stay. All of us ( 6 people) were very enthusiast about the comfort and all the care with which the owners treated us. Everyday we took oranges and mandarines from the garden and enjoy the warm Southern Spanish winter. A great place for climbers if you have a car. We will come back! and we rate it with 5 starts!

Submitted: March 7, 2013 Stayed: July 2012This was one of the most pleasant and peaceful holidays I have had. The villa is perfect, the added bonus of fresh vegetables and oranges had us experimenting with cooking. The fresh, fresh juice that we made with the fruit we had just picked only added to the experience. Maria and her family made us feel very welcome, so much so that we felt like an addition to their family.

A truly, truly beautiful place to enjoy, our well deserved holiday break.

Alora is a gem of a town too!

Prefect Quiet Family Holiday

We recently had a wonderful family holiday (my wife, 2 year old daughter and myself) at this farmhouse. The owners David and his mother Maria were very helpful during our stay. We had a minor issue with the WiFi which was rectified promptly without impacting on our holiday time. Maria was particularly wonderful with our two year old daughter, making a fuss and providing additional toys for her to play with and generally making us all feel very welcome.

From a young family's perspective we found the accommodation to be perfect for our needs at this time, the property was toddler friendly being all on one level, with plenty of rooms, patios and the orange grove to explore, the pool was fenced in (the downside side was there was a bit of drop to one side) plus their was a couple of swings in the tree to the front of the house which got hours of use. The gas BBQ was also useful.

Location wise from the places we visited during our stay the property is about 35 minutes drive from the centre of Malaga (we went by train once from Alora which was quite enjoyable) and about 50 minutes from Marbella and an hour from Puerto Banus.

There a couple of good bars/restaurants in Alora itself which is about 10 minutes drive away, plus one good restaurant called Asador Don Joaquin just out of town on the road back out towards Malaga.

In addition there is a decent sized Mercadona supermarket in Alora plus David and Maria run a quaint family store 100 yards down the road property where you are able to buy provisions.

All in all we had a wonderfully relaxing holiday (as much as you can with a 2 year old anyway).

Superb holiday

We've been to Alora twice before and this is the first time we stayed at La Gavia, where we spent wonderful 4 weeks. Where should I start? the farm is convenient, full of character and easy to get to. The owners are wonderful hosts, always ready to be of help if you want, but not obtrusive at all. The views are something to behold, one can be on the porch and never tire of those blue mountains! The fact that oranges and those plump figs can be picked every morning is not only good for your body but also for your soul. All I can say is a big thank you to Maria, David and Francisca... see you soon.

I can't praise Francesca, David and their parents enough for making our stay perfect. We were made to feel very welcome and were thoroughly looked after throughout our stay.

We really enjoyed having the farmhouse as our base, as my friend and I were climbing during the day in El Chorro and my boyfriend went out cycling it was lovely to have a well equipped and comfortable base to return to. We made dinner each evening and sat at the table on the porch listening to the crickets and watching the geckos with the mountains in the distance. Bliss!

The villa is very neat, tidy and clean and boasts a swimming pool, as well as various areas to either catch the sun or relax in the shade throughout the day including a charming courtyard where we breakfasted. But the main event and the real touch of rustic perfection is the orange grove which we gleefully picked and squeezed oranges daily for our breakfast.

Alora can be seen from the property and is a short drive from the villa where a supermarket provides all your food needs and the various shops and cafes are a joy to explore. Upon arrival we were shown where everything was including an abundance of playthings for any children we may have, beach accessories and laundry facilities, even the WiFi router. Although we didn't have any children with us the villa boasts lots of swings, a sandpit and toys for kids, as well as being very safe and secure with a high gate and locking door at the entrance to the property.

I tried to think of anything I would change or add to our experience in the property but honestly couldn't think of anything! We look forward to coming back next year if possible.

A lovely place to stay

La Gavia finca is a wonderfully equipped and presented house in a lovely setting amongst orange trees. There is good choice of places to sit outside to relax and to eat. It's a nice touch that towels are provided for the pool. The countryside around is quite stunning. It's a great spot for walking, climbing and for day trips to Ronda and Malaga. Maria and her family are very friendly and welcoming.

Location

From the Owner

The house has direct access to the local road that goes to town or the main roads leading to Malaga, Antequera and therefore to all Andalucia. We love the location of the property because we are on the country side but we do not have to drive a 4 wheel car to get in or out. An unique feature from the house is that originally was an Olive Oil Mill, later was turned into an orange grove Farmhouse. Even though has being restored twice the house maintains that unique character and warm feeling of that original 19th Century Home that it was once.

Local rental bike place is available in town if you are interested in biking. Private scenic bike tours available by the owner for an affordable fee.

Coast/Beach:

Nearest beach "Costa del Sol"(Malaga and Torremolinos) are accessible either by train (30 mins) or car 35 minutes.

We provide beach towels and umbrella so you can travel light.

Travel:

Our location has direct access to the road which makes us a great base for you traveling around Andalucia.

Car hire is recommended.

Álora is an historic white hilly town that has retained its charm with narrow streets, small shops and a busy street market every Monday. There are restaurants, tapas and coffee bars, and wonderful views of the mountains surrounding the most beautiful part of the Guadalhorce Valley. It remains green all year round due to the orange and lemon groves.

The property is all fenced-in and the pool area is locked-up making it very safe for small children. Come to our Farmhouse and give your children a great agricultural experience. In our modern societies kids are growing up as "city kids" and do not have the chance of picking their own fruits and veggies to put in their salads. Being by the grove will give them a better understanding of where everything comes from. A large number of baby items available (crib, high chair, baby jumper, strollers, baby restaurant portable chair, indoor/outdoor toys, swings and sand box. There is also a small river walking distance from the property. This is paradise for children, they can look for frogs or just chill their feet in the water. There is a wide path along the river where families can bike, take long walks and explore the area. The house has a quiet and inviting interior patio perfect for relaxing. Interior sun room with a lot of natural light for reading. The front porch it is covered and has table and chairs for dining. There is also a charming side porch with grape vines in summer. Nice swimming pool (8 x3.5 meters) with chairs and space to sun-bath. There is a nice gas barbecue available. Our guests are welcome to enjoy the grove fruit when in season. Washing machine also available. The property will be sparkly clean at check-in time.
