Cottage With Stunning Views Of The Creuse Countryside From Private Terrace

Overview

Property

Updated: 12-Nov-2016
Cottage near Chambon sur Voueize, Creuse - Peaceful Location, Perfect For Week Long Holidays, Weekend Getaways Or House Hunting Visits

Gite Etoile Bleu was renovated in 2012. A detached stone built cottage situated near the owner's house. Whilst the original oak beams & bread oven have been left exposed, the quality accommodation is modern and spacious. Set in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Creuse, it offers a peaceful environment for those who want to get away from it all. The hamlet of Marmouret has only 6 houses (including the gite) and our property is at the end of a no through lane. The open view with big, ever changing sky will surely be a source of inspiration to any artist - writer, painter, sculptor, needleworker etc.

About the Owner

We are Martin & Elaine. Our first visit to the Creuse was in April 2011 and it left us totally bowled over. When we saw this property and its location, we just knew we had to retire, sell up in the UK and relocate as soon as possible - we had already intended doing this at some point. By mid- November we were here!

We LOVED this gite!

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about this gite. The owners were lovely, the gite stunning, the hot tub luxurious and the location was perfect for us.

We loved exploring the area, and had regular drinks at the bar in Chambon.

The gite terrace was great for chilling out by day and star gazing by night. It had everything we needed, including a very comfy bed, and a gorgeous bathroom with walk-in shower.

We've stayed in many gites over the years; this was one of the very best.

Fabulous!

A lovely little gite, perfect for a couple who like a "get away from it all" break.

The property is a very pretty little French cottage. It is so quiet and the views were beautiful. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cottage had everything we needed...it really was a home from home.

Peace and tranquillity in the Creuse Countryside

  • 4 of 5

Superb location, very peaceful with fantastic views from the garden. The gites is spacious, well equipped, comfortable and incredibly quiet. Comprehensive welcome pack was excellent. Bathroom had a superb shower head and very upmarket fittings together with fluffy white towels. Bedroom was spacious and light together with crisp bed linen. It was unfortunate that there had been problems with the hot tub and the owners had been unable to obtain replacement parts during our stay. Supermarket quite close together with an auberge that served delicious food at very reasonable prices. Would recommend for anyone wanting an away from it all location. Sky service on TV was an added bonus.

Peaceful stay

  • 5 of 5

Peaceful, restful stay in this quietly positioned gite. Very well equipped and spacious. Breakfast supplied a real treat ! Spa pool well used for a cool off following hot summer days. Car required as stated. The whole gite was as described in advert and didn't disappoint. Would recommend to mature able couples. Views to die for with a bottle of French red sitting on patio on sun loungers, bbq going in the background. . . .

Wonderful quiet Gite for two

  • 5 of 5

Gite Etoile Bleu is indeed a wonderful getaway for couples. We spent a very relaxing week, sitting on the patio with panoramic views, enjoying this same views from the comfort of the hot tub. The peace and quiet was just what we wanted to relax. The house was spotlessly clean and larger than anticipated, the bedroom was light large and airy, not forgetting the walk in wet room shower a delight. Elaine and Martin made us feel at home with a very generous welcome pack. We highly recommend this property and will be back here in the future.

A Peaceful Place

  • 5 of 5

The gite was well appointed and we were made to feel most welcome on arrival. We were lucky with the weather during our stay to the point that it was too hot to even sit outside (a gazebo or awning creating some shade during the afternoon would make this an absolute perfect place). The information file provided was very useful and helped us decide what to visit (there are so many places to choose from!). So, if you are looking for somewhere to chill and relax, this is it. The view from the patio is beautiful and the sunsets are stunning.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay & found lots to do in the region. Now that the wall has been pointed, we shall certainly look at the possibilities of fixing an awning to provide some shade. The weather was indeed exceoption whilst you were here.

Location

From the Owner

The peace and tranquillity first and foremost but also the opportunity to leave behind the daily grind and try our hands at a new venture. The Creuse has forests and lakes aplenty and you are more likely to come across the wildlife than another person when you take to the lanes and tracks on foot or bicycle. However, when you do stumble upon another person, you will find them to be welcoming and helpful.
