Overview

About the property

Cottage near Chambon sur Voueize, Creuse - Peaceful Location, Perfect For Week Long Holidays, Weekend Getaways Or House Hunting Visits

Gite Etoile Bleu was renovated in 2012. A detached stone built cottage situated near the owner's house. Whilst the original oak beams & bread oven have been left exposed, the quality accommodation is modern and spacious. Set in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Creuse, it offers a peaceful environment for those who want to get away from it all. The hamlet of Marmouret has only 6 houses (including the gite) and our property is at the end of a no through lane. The open view with big, ever changing sky will surely be a source of inspiration to any artist - writer, painter, sculptor, needleworker etc.

About Elaine Forster

We are Martin & Elaine. Our first visit to the Creuse was in April 2011 and it left us totally bowled over. When we saw this property and its location, we just knew we had to retire, sell up in the UK and relocate as soon as possible - we had already intended doing this at some point. By mid- November we were here!

Elaine Forster purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Elaine Forster chose Creuse

The peace and tranquillity first and foremost but also the opportunity to leave behind the daily grind and try our hands at a new venture. The Creuse has forests and lakes aplenty and you are more likely to come across the wildlife than another person when you take to the lanes and tracks on foot or bicycle. However, when you do stumble upon another person, you will find them to be welcoming and helpful.

What makes this cottage unique

By day, the views from the terraces are of unspoilt, open countryside. In the evening, the sunsets are truly amazing and then, in the absence of light pollution, the night sky shows so many stars it takes your breath away. We look forward to sharing it all with you.

Absolutely lovely!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay (the only gite to which we've ever returned) and it didn't disappoint.

Beautiful views, tranquil setting and very well appointed accommodation.

The owners are lovely, and the welcome basket of breads, pastries, jams etc was very much appreciated after a long drive.

The hot tub is great, and makes for a great, relaxing end to the day.

We loved it...again!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Nicola. It was good to see you both again and we are delighted to hear that you chose Gite Etoile Bleue as the first gite to return to in 20 years of gite holidays. That truly means a lot to us!

Peace, quiet and starry nights

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this lovely place. The gite is very clean, modern and well-equipped. Elaine and Martin are perfect hosts and had a thoughtfully provided a welcome pack of essentials to help us settle in. The area is very peaceful and we spent a lot of our time relaxing and recharging our batteries. Highly recommended.

Wonderfully relaxing week.

  • 5 of 5

Just what we needed - a lovely, quiet retreat to recharge the batteries. This is the first gite we have used and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Second to last on a lane with stunning views of the French countryside, its location was perfect. The 'Welcome Pack' of food was also a lovely touch. Thoroughly recommended - we shall return.

Beautiful location with every thing you could ask for.

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived at this beautiful gite Elaine and Martin welcomed us, it didn't take long to discover what nice people they are and good fun. Elaine had prepared a welcome basket of supplies for us which meant we didn't have to rush off out to get shopping etc, just as well because the nearest shops are about 12 km/7 miles away in a lovely little town called Chambon.

The gite was spotlessly clean with every thing you could possibly need. The views are breath taking and so quiet, ideal for walking or if not quite as fit just to relax and admire the gorgeous landscape. Elaine and Martin are great hosts and full of fun. We also met a couple of neighbours who also were very hospitable. We are hoping to return next year providing my health permits.

Thanks Elaine and Martin we really enjoyed our stay and hope to see you next year.

We LOVED this gite!

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about this gite. The owners were lovely, the gite stunning, the hot tub luxurious and the location was perfect for us.

We loved exploring the area, and had regular drinks at the bar in Chambon.

The gite terrace was great for chilling out by day and star gazing by night. It had everything we needed, including a very comfy bed, and a gorgeous bathroom with walk-in shower.

We've stayed in many gites over the years; this was one of the very best.

Fabulous!

The property is a very pretty little French cottage. It is so quiet and the views were beautiful. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cottage had everything we needed...it really was a home from home.
