Kevin and I (Lorraine) have lived in Buxton for over 50 years, we have two daughters, one son inlaw, 4 grandchildren and a cocker spaniel called Alfie. Buxton is a lovely friendly Town with lots of beautiful attractions within walking distance!

Lovely apartment, very clean and comfortable and everything you need is there. Perfect location, just a short walk to lovely pubs and restaurants. The owners Lorraine and Kevin were absolutely brilliant, so helpful. Highly recommend this apartment.

Wonderful accomodation for a stay in Buxton - a recommendation
We had a wonderful time in Buxton - also thanks to the great accommodation. The apartment has a superb location in Buxton and many places in the Peak District are easily accessible by bus or train; also it is clean and spacious. Lorraine and Kevin are very nice and helpful. A recommendation !

Lovely place, good location
We booked this apartment for 2 nights but we didn't really spend much time in the apartment so there may be somethings that we have missed. The owners were very accommodating because we asked for an early check in and there was easy system to drop off the keys as we left quite early.
The apartment was well furnished and clean, it also had a number of additional touches such as books, games and some kitchen extras like milk and bread.
The apartment is within an easy walk of the town center and there is a Sainsbury's just round the corner.

We arrived and were welcomed by the owner, Kevin (having spoken to his wife, Lorraine, on the phone for helpful directions). He showed us around and we were taken with the apartment straight away. The first thing I noticed was how tastefully it had been decorated throughout. The sitting room was smail but did the job. The kitchen had a breakfast bar which our two 6 year olds loved! The double bedroom and bathroom were spacious but the biggest hit was the attic/mezzazine bedroom that the girls commandeered. They are still talking about it as one of the highlights of our holiday! I would point out (as I'm sure the owners have, that the stairs are steep and the steps narrow so would not suit younger children). We had a wonderful stay here and would recommend it unreservedly.

Buxton is a spa town in Derbyshire. It has the highest elevation of any market town in England. Located close to the county boundary with Cheshire to the west and Staffordshire to the south, Buxton is described as "the gateway to the Peak District National Park".
Buxton is blessed with its architecture and history. The Crescent, Bath House, Buxton Opera House, The Devonshire Dome are to name but a few buildings which are very special in their own right.
Culturally, there are lots to do and see, including the annual Buxton Festival and the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, among other festivals and performances held in the Opera House and other venues. The Buxton Museum & Art Gallery offers year-round exhibitions, as too does the Pavilion Gardens.
If you’re an adrenalin chaser, there are a range of activities to do. From ‘Go Ape’ to mountain biking, swimming and walking, pot-holing and cavern exploring to climbing and abseiling, Buxton and the Peak District has it all.
The nearest airport is Manchester which is about 30 minute drive. The nearest motorway is the M62 and/or M6, both of which are approximately 45 minutes drive. Buxton has excellent train links direct to Manchester and bus routes to the Potteries, Sheffield and other towns including Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne. Nearest train station is a 10 min walk and the nearest bus stop is a 2 min walk away.
All of Buxton's attractions are within five minutes walk from the apartment.
Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Castleton, Matlock and Macclesfield are all within 15mins to 30mins drive away.
Alton Towers, the UK's no1 theme park and water park is less than 40 minutes drive away.
The cities of Sheffield, Stoke on Trent and Manchester are within an hours drive.
Buxton has a fantastic array of restaurants, shops and boutiques. You'll be spoilt for choice.
Likewise, the nearby towns of Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne offer a great choice of shops, boutiques and restaurants too.

Additional pricing information
Due to interest in the property we do ask for a 20% deposit at the time of booking. Full payment must be made 8 weeks prior to the start of your holiday. Holidays booked with less than 8 wheeks notice will require payment in full. We strongly recommend you have holiday insurance as any cancellations of less than 8 weeks will not be refundetd. Same sex parties will be allowed but there is a £100 deposit to cover any damage etc to the property. The £100 will be refunded in 24 hrs after inspection.
We try to be flexible with our guests as possible, however, in peak season we ask you to arrive no earlier than 2pm and depart no later than 10am. This ensures that the apartment can be prepared to the highest standards.
Notes on prices:
We have tried to keep the prices quite low throughout the year with a slight increase during peak season. This doesn't reflect the quality of the accommodation.

There are two car parking facilities very close to the apartment. They charge £3.00 per day.

- Notes on accommodation: We have provided you with a selection of DVDs, Books and toys. We can provide a travel cot, high chair, stair gate and more fresh towels if required. The apartment is a strictly no smoking environment. A well behaved dog is allowed however we would appreciate you don't allow it on the furniture or bedding... Also there is an additional cleaning cost for pets this is a one off payment of £30 which will be added on to the total costs... If the pet isn't brought to the apartment the additional £30 will be refunded. Outside: Solomon's Peak Apartment does not have its own garden. However, this is not unusual for historic towns. A short stroll however will bring you number of beautiful open areas, including Grinlow woods from the car park at Pooles Cavern, which takes you to Solomons's Temple and the beautiful Pavilion Gardens. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Your beds will be made up before your arrival with freshly laundered bedding; hand, bath and kitchen linen is included within our prices. If you require a maid service please enquire for prices. Other: The apartment consists of a kitchen, a cosy living room, two bedrooms and a spacious bathroom.
