What makes this cottage unique

Week's stay - July 2017

  • 4 of 5

We needed somewhere to stay near to Truro whilst our daughter attended a training camp. This property was ideally located in the village of Carnon Downs, a few minutes’ drive from Truro. It is a sweet little cottage, perfectly suited to our needs (three people) with everything that we required for our stay in Cornwall. Despite being small, it is a neat and tidy cottage and still felt roomy enough for us with good sized bedrooms (with comfortable beds) and an attractive fitted galley kitchen. The only minor criticism we had is the slightly saggy sofa in the living room. The weather permitted us to sit out on occasions on the small decking area at the rear of the property in the well-kept narrow garden and also to use the BBQ some evenings. Carnon Downs itself is a nice wee settlement with a well-stocked mini supermarket a 5 minute walk away and easy links to south to Falmouth and beyond or north to Truro and the northern coastal attractions. All in all a great property and a lovely stay.

Lovely little cottage - very pretty and well equipped

  • 5 of 5

The cottage, although bijou, was very well appointed and well equipped. I was easily able to cook family meals and the dining room was a lovely size for the three of us. Beds are cozy and comfy and we all enjoyed the luxury of a real fire.

Lovely cottage, warm welcome

  • 4 of 5

Really pretty character cottage with lots of unusual features and everything you need for a break. Great location to access the far south west (we went to Falmouth, Truro, Porthcurno, Lands End and Helston: all less than 1hr away) but also set in a lovely quiet village with a shop, some great walks and a small enclosed children's play area just up the road.

Very warm welcome from the owner, with great communication in advance of our visit, a cream tea on arrival and swift response to a query during our stay. Could not have asked for better service!

The facilities were excellent: easily the best equipped kitchen we have ever had in a holiday cottage, comfy beds and a nice big telly for the evenings! We played in the garden and ate dinner on the deck in the sunshine, brilliant!

The only improvements we could suggest would be to make it a little more child friendly: the upstairs windows on the gorgeous window seats shut but don't lock (we have a small adventurous boy so we put our l) and there are some very delicate ornaments (but we just moved them out of reach of curious little fingers). NB for parents of little ones: As you would expect in a cottage this age there are relatively steep stairs with a handrail on one side, and a curtain on the other, so small careless children need to be supervised on the stairs.

Such a quaint cottage with everything you would need in it to make it a home from home

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we opened the door we felt at home. There was everything provided as we would have in our own home including baking if we needed to. What a lovely surprise to find in the fridge a pint of milk and a cream tea for us all. Its these little touches that made it so special. The beds were comfortable and adequate bedding and towels provided too. Thank you for making this an enjoyable and welcoming home to stay in.

Lovely Cornish Cottage

  • 5 of 5

A gorgeous Cornish cottage which felt like home from home. It's always nice to arrive at a holiday property and find if 'as advertised' but this was more than that! The facilities in the kitchen, the lovely decor and roomy bedrooms were just what we wanted to visit family in Falmouth. A great location to visit all corners of Cornwall.
