About the Owner

The properties belong to an Anglo/French family. My husband and I bought the properties in 2003 and decided to restaure them and transform them into comfortable and welcoming places for you to stay. We brought up our two daughters there for 8 years and then spent 6 years in Paris, but after my husband passed away last summer, I decided to carry on managing the properties and to return to Honfleur. I get help from Amanda and Craig Ferguson, who also live in Honfleur and organise everything if I'm not around. We are all committed to making sure that you stay is memorable and that you leave determined to come back.

Honfleur is a beautiful and picturesque town and the properties are ideally located, only 10 minutes walk from the harbour and the town centre, and in a peaceful 5 acre ground.

We stayed at the larger of the two houses August 2015. We were a little worried about the size (this is the larger of the two houses) as the photos are a little muddled for the two properties. However on our arrival we were delighted. Our party consited of a family of 5 and one of 6 and that incorporated 3 teenage girls and young children. We opted for Honfleur so the older ones could have a bit of freedom. Honfleur itself was very very busy, This house, however, is in a totally peaceful area which is also a really easy short walk into the town. The house is beautiful and bigger than we expected, you walk into a lovely kitchen followed by a small room with sofa and small tv followed by a large living room with table to accommodate 12 and comfy seating area. Off both living rooms are staircases to two separate upstairs areas, both over two floors. These were absolutely perfect as two families can share yet have their own space. Ours had first a lovely en-suite double then above that a fab children's room which slept 2 but Isabelle very kindly put in a 3rd bed for us, this had a loo and sink too so our children just used our bath. On the other side from the separate staircase, our friends had a lovely double, a separate bathroom, and off their room as a 'den' with a big TV (we loved that this was not in the main area of the house)the teenagers spent the evening there! Above them were two twin bedrooms. Perfect. Wii fi not great but we went to get away from that. We loved it. Isabelle was wonderful, kindly inviting us to her beautiful home above us nestled in the hillside, she was on hand if we needed her but otherwise left you totally private. We would definately go back. I would not recommend this property for families with toddlers or elderly with mobility problems as tight spiral staircases to upstairs but fantastic for falilies like our with children ranging from 8-15. The beds were SO comfortable and linen beautifully laundered.

The two properties originally date from the 17th/18th centuries. La Ferme is a large yet comfortable timber framed house that sleeps 10 and La Bergerie is in flint and brick and sleeps 4.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Golf and Horse or Pony riding can be organised for guests.

Special interest holidays including French courses and art courses will be added in due course.

Coast/Beach:

The properties are within 15 minutes of the Honfleur beach and around 30 minutes drive from the magnificent beaches in Trouville and Deauville.

Travel:

Nearest airport is Deauville St. Gatien - 15 minutes by car.

Distances:

Within ten minutes walk of the old port in Honfleur, the location is perfect for access to that historic town and for the beaches and golf courses in the surrounding area at Trouville and Deauville.

Further Details:

Honfleur is especially known for its old, picturesque port characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind, forming the école de Honfleur (Honfleur school) which contributed to the appearance of the Impressionist movement.

The Pavillon de la Reine in who's grounds these properties reside was built by Louis XVIth in the 1780s.

The two properties are close to the town and not far from beaches and golf courses in St. Gatien, Trouville and Deauville. The St. Gatien airport is within 15 minutes drive.

Stay tax €1 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the manager upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 12 years.

Booking Notes:
20% of the rental is payable in advance with the balance at least three weeks before the start of your holiday. A 500 € damage deposit is due before arrival. It will be returned a week after you've left (we don't charge for minor breakages).

Changeover Day:
Preferably Saturdays. For specific requirements, please contact owner.

Notes on prices:
If you rent the Farmhouse (La Ferme de Lucie) and are more than 10 guests (it can accommodate up to 12 people), we charge 50€ per person per night to make up for time spent on cleaning.

  • Notes on accommodation: La Ferme: On the ground floor: large kitchen, dining room and large lounge. On the first and second floors: 5 charming bedrooms including a children's' bed and play room. There are 2 bathrooms and three WCs plus a large day room/library. La Bergerie: On the ground floor: a substantial living area extending into a fully glazed garden room. Kitchen and bar area. On the first floor two bedrooms one with jacuzzi and one with bath within the rooms. Each property is self contained and there is room for cars within the grounds. Outside: Both properties are provided with garden furniture and barbecues. They have their own areas of grounds and parking facilities.
