This chalet style apartment building is in a superb situation in the heart of the mountain village of Barboleuse, just 4km away from Villars. It is in a quiet location with stunning southerly views over the mountains, yet is just 2 minutes walk from all of the amenities in the village including a supermarket, restaurants, bakery/cafe, ski and bike hire, tourist information and mountain train with connections to nearby Villars and down the mountain to Bex. It is perfect for family skiing holidays being just 2 minutes walk from the telecabines, but also the ideal place for a summer holiday with countless outdoor activities in the area.

Exceeded Our High Expectations

We greatly appreciated this beautiful apartment. I was already familiar with the area from frequent visits many years ago, but I was not aware of just how perfectly situated an apartment in Barboleuse could be! It is only a one-minute walk to the bakery, about the same to the telecabine, and the views are unobstructed to the Dents du Midi, etc from the balcony. Everything in the apartment was immaculate and well-maintained. Many thanks to Howard and Wendy for the thorough instructions and suggestion list for things to do in the area and also for making their lovely apartment available to us.

Beautiful apartment, beautiful surroundings

The apartment is very comfortable, clean and perfectly located. The house is just at the bottom of the slopes , a minute walk from a cable car. In the evenings you cannot be bored, take a relaxing walk in Barboleuse, try local restaurants or take a train to the next village Gryon or Villars.

Howard and Wendy are very nice and friendly, they took care that we do not miss anything. Thank you very much for your hospitality. We will definitively come back.

So glad we came!

We have just returned from visiting La Barboleuse - we had an amazing time! Firstly huge thanks to Wendy and Howard the owners for providing such a beautiful, well equipped and very comfortable apartment and for all your tips and advice, everything was easy and very useful - you are brilliant hosts! Could tell instantly that you were very genuine people.

I wanted to take my children for a different summer holiday this year rather than the traditional beach, and they were enthralled the whole time by the scenery, accommodation and activities on offer. The apartment is within easy reach of many attractions and land marks, we visited Mt Blanc in Chamonix, you can get to lake Geneva easily too. We visited a glacier and enjoyed tobogganing and a glacier walk in July! The Swiss people are very helpful and family friendly and make everything very easy and enjoyable.

All in all would thoroughly recommend the apartment and area to anyone, it was a really fantastic holiday! We didn't have the best weather but it really didn't make a difference to us, and I'm a lady who usually likes to sunbathe so that is praise indeed! We would love to come back in the winter too as the area looks fantastic for skiing! Thank you to Howard and Wendy for sharing your lovely home with us - we will be back!

Ideal Apartment

This is a clean, bright, modern apartment. We were a family group of five adults and we were very comfortable. The Ski lift is a short, easy walk away in full ski gear and boots. The owners were clear, efficient and friendly in correspondence. Ideal for a family group ski holiday. We would visit again.

Location

We were visiting friends in the area one summer and suddenly realised this area had almost year round appeal. My wife loves it in the summer and our children love it for the winter sports. We love being located in La Barboleuse as it away from the crowds, but just minutes walk from all the amenities you might need. The 'bubbles' are just near our apartment and we use them for skiing in the winter or walking in the summer. If we want to go into Villars and don't have a car with us we can either walk or hop onto the mountain train.

Coast/Beach:

Lake Geneva is a short drive away (approx half an hour). This beautiful lake with its lovely lakeside towns has several beaches, and offers summer attractions such as water parks and boat trips.

Travel:

Geneva airport is just 1 1/4 hour drive away. There is excellent access from the airport by train with a direct line from the airport to Bex. From here a 20 minute ride on the mountain train will bring you up to Barboleuse, just a couple of minutes walk from the apartment. In total the journey takes 2 hours and 10 minutes. If driving from Calais the journey takes around 8 hours plus any stops. Car hire, if required, can be arranged at Geneva airport or in Villars.

Distances:

Barboleuse is just 3 km from Villars, 2 km from Gryon. Both can be reached within minutes on the local mountain train. The journey down the mountain to the valley takes 20 minutes. From there Lake Geneva with its lakeside towns is a short drive away, other ski resorts are less than an hour's drive, and the Italian lakes are just 3 hours drive.

Further Details:

Barboleuse has a supermarket (open 7 days a week), restaurants including a popular and very reasonable pizzeria, bakery, tourist information, ski and bike hire. Villars has several banks, supermarkets, pharmacies, bars and restaurants along with many other shops. The town also has a swimming pool, ice rink, golf course, tennis courts and sports center. In the winter the focus is on winter sports. In the summer there are footpaths offering miles of beautiful walks in the mountains as well as marked cycle tracks. The cable cars, telecabines and mountain trains are open in the summer season taking visitors up the mountains to beautiful lakes and forest walks.

We have never been bored whilst on holiday here. There are so many walks and activities around us. We have spent these years getting to know the mountains around us and have yet to explore around Lake Geneva, just a short drive away. In the winter there are many other resorts that are quite easily accessible from here.
