Notes on accommodation: The property is conveniently located on the top floor, with an overall view of the complex and therefore suitable for couples and families of all ages. The complex has a large freshwater swimming pool complete with infant pool and shower that can be seen from the apartment balcony. A few steps from the apartment is the beach. We have added those little extras that make your holiday complete. To entertain there is the following, DVD/CD player, iPod docking station, books, and 42 inch television with 11 satellite channels. There is also a hairdryer. There are no hidden charges, the price quoted is for the property regardless of the number of guests. Electricity, water, air conditioning, weekly cleaning and a linen change are included in the price. When comparing prices please check as some owners charge a supplement for air-conditioning, cleaning and linen change. Outside: The Leme Bedje complex is in a idyllic position located directly opposite the Ponta Leme Bedje white sandy beach. The complex has a large freshwater swimming pool leading from the baby pool all the way around to deep end that is ideal for diving. There are plenty of poolside furniture and beautifully landscaped and well maintained gardens. The Leme Bedje beach, with warm shallow waters is an ideal spot for children and adults alike to swim. This part of the beach is on the South of the Island and is the calmest section of water on Sal Island. Angulo's Bar and Restaurant is the best spot to enjoy a sunrise and sunset drink. with a no stress, chilled out ambiance, with sofas, sun beds, and hammocks for you to sunbathe on the beach or chill in the shade on what feels like your own section of private beach. There is also a surf shop and Wifi in the beach bar. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Hand and bath towels, bed linen and bedding provided. Property is cleaned weekly including the changing of linen and towels.

Lovely, clean apartment with everything you need

Myself and a few friends stayed in this apartment for a week this October. It was perfect for a couple or small group and Linda was there to meet us when we arrived. Transfers were arranged for us which was also great. The apartment was lovely, spacious and clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The pool was cleaned everyday and there is access to the beach straight across the road, with a small supermarket just next to the apartment block. The nicer part of the beach is about a ten minute walk away towards the centre of Santa Maria. The apartment was situated on a main street which made it feel safe enough to walk home in the dark as a group of young women. Overall a great chilled out holiday and would definitely recommend the apartment, as well as the island of Sal!

Lovely location away from town centre.

We have just returned from this lovely apartment situated on the 2nd floor of this complex. 5 of us stayed in the apartment and were met there on arrival by Linda the apartments local manager. We had no issues with the apartment,the pool area was well maintained and loved the fact you never had to do the towel run early in the morning. We used the two local bars mainly during our stay Angulos and Columbus opposite the complex,lovely food and views. The town was a 10 minute walk or 2 minutes in a taxi for 2€. The weather was extremely hot and my only criticism would be the a/c unit didn't service the bedrooms only the lounge area,but saying that it cooled that area perfectly. Thanks to Michael and Sharon for prompt replies and helping with our booking.

Sal and Santa Maria is a wonderful place to stay and appartment is what you need to complete it

The apartment is spacious and close to a beach, as advertised but after that I would call it selective advertising.

The air con we paid a premium apartment rate to have didn't work and wouldn't be fixed till after we left, so lots sleepless nights! I could have paid less for an adjacent apartment on the same complex without AC.

The patio doors were locked using a broom handle as the lock was broken!

The shower broke, they fixed that bit and broke another bit so that didn't work properly.

The internet (which I even double checked about and was told by the owner was purchasable and worked well) was purchasable but didn't work in the apartment.

The satellite tv was one very fuzzy uk news channel.

The sofa has fleas..my poor husband was bitten alive when he fell asleep on it...we found & killed two fleas. Meaning the sofa was unusable.

The beach was lovely but the sea inaccessible due to rocks.

The whole apartment feels uncared for.

The outside pool area and all the people we met were lovely.

Cape Verde itself is a bit of a paradox. Beautiful beaches & private beach clubs with a housing block next to this apartment with no running water. There is extreme poverty, lots of building work & derelict buildings. The whole area is very underdeveloped and you have to go knowing there is little to do except sunbathe, kitesurfing and fishing.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, I am sorry that you were disappointed with the holiday. I have looked into all details you mentioned with our manager in Cape Verde as we like to maintain good standards for our guests. Our manager has advised that the only issue she was made aware of during your stay was regarding the air conditioning unit. It was checked and the outside unit required a new part which could not get repaired in time, during the 6 days you were staying in the apartment. I do apologise for this, the unit has now been repaired, we do have large ceiling fans in the bedrooms also. As far as the patio door lock, we have had that checked as our manager was not aware, the spring had fallen out of the door lock and that is now repaired. The sofa has also been checked and there is no sign of any flees, so not sure if this was mosquitos, it has been given a steam clean as a precaution. The internet mast is above the apartment so the wifi connection is always really good. It is run by Leme Bedje Reception and if they are advised they are usually very good at sorting any problems. As far as the beach immediately opposite we have been advised that there are some rocks there now, this is due to the new buildings that have been built further down the beach affecting longshore drift, we are unable to rectify this. However the main beach is no more than a couple of minutes walk. There are several other activities/sightseeing tours/boat trips to do on the Island, leaflets are available in the apartment and our manager is always happy to advise. Kind Regards Sharon

Great apartment

This apartment was spot on for us.

It had everything we needed for a great independent holiday in Santa Maria.

The apartment was spotlessly clean, well equipped and the showers were nice an powerful.

Communal areas are very pleasant and well kept.

On site shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.

Owners were very helpful as was Linda their Agent in Santa Maria, easy booking, quick responses to any questions we had, and check in/out was effortless.

Would definitely use again when we return to CV.

The Island of Sal was featured on Channel 4 when Cheryl Baker (Bucks Fizz fame) was captured by the beauty of its unspoilt beaches and year round sunshine (4 July 2008). The Leme Bedje complex was one that the show featured as an ideal purchase for Cheryl, as it was well located and situated directly on the miles and miles of white sand, which is Leme Bedje and Santa Maria's beach. Conveniently situated with all amenities just a few minutes walk.


Cape Verde's Sal International airport is a 15 minute taxi ride from Santa Maria, and will cost no more that 10 Euro to the complex in the day and a few Euro more at night.


Santa Maria town center is a 2 minute stroll from Leme Bedje complex where you will find a great number of superb bars and restaurants. There are a growing number of shops selling local artwork and of course banks, pharmacy, some surf shops, bakery and grocery shops etc. The capital of Espargos is around a 20 minute drive away, where you can go by taxi for 10 Euro or experience the local alugier minibus for 2 Euro, alternatively there is the port of Palmeira about 30 min away.

Further Details:

Santa Maria there are many fine restaurants, bars, shops, banks, bakery and mini markets. where you can watch the locals entertain you from one of the many pavement cafes. For the more energetic try your hand at one of the many water sports on offer from kite boarding, wind surfing, diving or snorkeling. Jet Ski hire and fishing all are available within a few minutes walk. Santa Maria is renowned world wide for its water sports, and is the home of Josh Angulo a former world windsurfing champion, the world windsurfing championships have been held in Santa Maria since 2008.
