Sunnyside Cottage is a spacious country home offering a perfect escape from the crowds in a homely and tastefully decorated environment. Suitable for all the family. Sunnyside is both a wonderful retreat and a great place to gather with family or friends to enjoy the extensive wonders of north Cornwall that are within easy reach. The cottage is located on the outskirts of the popular village of Whitstone and has stunning rural views towards Dartmoor. It also benefits from a lovely garden and setting, with it's own off road gravel driveway including parking for up to 3/4 vehicles. The adjoining barn and fields of sheep add even more to the rural charm of Sunnyside and make it a wonderful place to spend time inside or out. One great thing about Sunnyside is it's fantastic convenient location - to take advantage of the wonderful Cornish coastline and countryside; whether you walk, surf, read, shop, potter, cycle, swim, site-see or whatever, it's all within a stones throw for you to enjoy.

About Libby Etherington

As we live most of our lives in busy west London, Sunnyside Cottage is our escape from it all and a real home-from-home. Since buying the property in 2012, our aim has been to create a lovely space where guests would instantly relax and start their holiday the moment they walk in the door. We love Sunnyside Cottage and believe that is exactly what we have created. We are Jez and Libby Etherington and, together with our daughter Tillie, we hope to welcome you as our guests and that you'll love it as much as we do.

Why Libby Etherington chose Cornwall

We love the north Cornwall coast and surrounding countryside and so decided that we wanted to be closer to this area once we sold our previous holiday cottage close to Torrington.

We lead very hectic day to day lives and we love to escape to a place where we can see green fields all around, hear the sheep bleating, hit the beach for surfing, sandcastles or beautiful walks and can wander down winding country lanes or along stunning coastal paths and breathe the clean fresh air. We love to light the log burner and share wonderful meals around big old farmhouse table and to curl up watching a good DVD or sit outside with a drink to catch the fading Cornish sunshine.

Sunnyside Cottage in Whitstone is our perfect escape for holidays short and long - we hope you'll love it too.

What makes this cottage unique

Sunnyside is in a great central location for this north Cornwall area - within easy reach of all amenities but far enough away to get a bit of space.

Just a 15 min drive from the A30 main road - it's very easy to access too.

Notes on accommodation: A put-up bed (fits in bedroom 1 or 2) and travel cot (with extra mattress for comfort - fits in bedroom 1 or 2) are also available (please provide your own linen and bedding for the cot). We also have a booster (high) chair available for feeding little ones plus a potty and a small collection of pre-school toys. The cottage is well stocked with games for all ages. WiFi is generally available at the cottage but cannot be guaranteed at all times. Outside: Our garden is spacious and beautiful and suitable for both children and adults to enjoy. The main farm gate at the driveway entrance can be closed to provide a safe place for children to play all around the cottage. Garden furniture, a parasol and a BBQ are provided to enjoy in the garden for socialising in the summer months. We also have traditional garden games (croquet, sticks and hoops) and an Indian fire pit to gather around with a glass of wine as the sun sets. Utility Room: The utility and boot room is an extension of the kitchen, housing the washer/drier, dishwasher and sink. It is a very convenient space used to enter the cottage through a charming stable door. The fourth (single) bedroom adjoins this area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen and towels are provided and the property is professionally cleaned before and after your stay. For holidays of more than one week, a mid stay change of linen and towels can be provided for a small additional charge. Other: Our barn is a perfect place to store your bikes or surf boards and to hang wetsuits out to dry in a safe environment. Garden games (croquet, sticks and hoops) are stored here along with our BBQ, Indian fire pit (Kadai) and garden accessories.

Welcoming family cottage

Sunnyside is a lovely cottage in a good location to explore the area. The owners have taken great care to make it comfortable and stylish. Our granddaughter particularly enjoyed the toy box. It was a pity we were only there for a long weekend. We will return!!

VERY NICE COTTAGE

We just loved our stay at this very rural well equipped cottage. Fantastic local walks and a great base to explore Cornwall and Devon as we did. Just a 10 min drive and you have local beaches. Found the cottage and location very relaxing and we really did chill out. Just what we needed. We shall be returning.

Lovely cottage

The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, with lovely beds, a beautiful kitchen and everything we could want for our stay (including a cot, toys and a highchair for our baby). It's a short (15-20 min) drive to Bude and its beautiful beaches. We particularly enjoyed the cooker which was a fabulous novelty - who doesn't love a whistling kettle! :) The rooms were comfortable at night, not too hot, not too cold (bearing in mind this was July).

Our only issue was how very close it is to a very fast road, making it near impossible to walk anywhere from the house with children. There is no footpath between the house and the road, meaning cars drive past very fast just inches from the house. The road noise also bothered us - although it should be said that we live in a very quiet village and the level of noise may well not bother others!

Owner's Response: We're glad that property was found comfortable and well equipped. We've made every effort to make it a home from home. The property sits on the B3254 - a country lane B road with a 40 speed limit. It has mainly local traffic and farm vehicles. We've not found this Cornish B road to be a problem at all, although if you are looking for complete silence, then our cottage would obviously not be for you. There are some nearby local walks from the property but we wouldn't advise strolling along the lane - a car is needed to enjoy a holiday at Sunnyside!

We ask for a £200 breakages/damage deposit for your stay which is returnable direct to your account within one week of the property being vacated and checked.

A 25% deposit is required to secure your holiday booking and payment in full in requested 4 weeks before your stay. Payment should be either by cheque or direct to our bank account.

Arrival time 3pm and departure time 10am unless otherwise agreed.

Changeover Day:
Saturday preferred in peak season but can be flexible if possible.
Special weekend breaks are also available out of peak season as are short breaks of any kind - please contact us to discuss your needs.
