About the Owner

We have had Tredenham since 1980 and have visited the house several times a year ever since. Our sons, who were 10 and 8 when it was bought now take their children there and all ages enjoy it enormously.

Location

From the Owner

Sonia's family knew Polzeath and the area well and it seemed a very good place to have a family holiday house. It still does! The area has advantages for all ages - buckets and spades, rock pools, surfing, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, wonderful walking, nice pubs, good restaurants, interesting places to see.

Coast/Beach:

Polzeath Beach is very well known for surfing and body-boarding. It is very safe and children of all ages love it. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty throughout the spring, summer and autumn - about a 4 minute walk. Daymer Bay, on the Camel estuary is also very popular and safe - 5 mins by car. Rock Beach is about 10 mins by car, and the ferry to Padstow goes from there. The Coastal Path runs close by - there is about 200 miles available in one direction and 300 miles in the other.

Travel:

Use of a car is pretty well essential. Bodmin is the nearest train station, and Newquay the nearest airport.

Distances:

Polzeath has shops which cater for daily needs, and Wadebridge (about a 15 min drive) has 2 supermarkets and everything you would need for a holiday.

The Tesco in Wadebridge does an on-line delivery service to Polzeath.

Further Details:

The North Cornwall coast is famous for it beautiful, rugged coastline, and its golden sandy beaches. The area has something for all ages: Polzeath has one of the best and safest surfing beaches in the country, Daymer Bay is great for the bucket-and-spade brigade, and Rock provides a haven for small-boat sailors, windsurfers and water-skiers. The Sailing Club accepts temporary members and the sailing centre provides instruction and has boats for hire. Waterski-ing and instruction is also available. Sea fishing trips can also be enjoyed from the pontoon at Rock. The Camel Trail cycle path, which is the old railway line and therefore pretty flat, runs from Bodmin to Padstow via Wadebridge and bicycles are easy to hire in any of those places. Worth a go.

Walking along the coastal path and inland is extremely popular, especially in the early summer when the wild flowers are in bloom. The views are spectacular, particularly from Pentire Head and The Rumps. Visiting the church of St. Enedoc, set in the middle of the well-known golf course is fascinating – recovered from the shifting sands, and now the burial place of John Betjeman. There is golf at St. Enedoc and at The Point Country Club.

Facilities

From the Owner

The house has fantastic views from the front, overlooking Pentire Point and the sea, and from the back, south-facing over farmland and the distant downs. The secluded back garden is a good sun-trap and provides enough space for little people to play. There is parking for 3 cars and the beach and the shops are less than 5 minutes walk.
