Casa de la Colina (House on the Hill) can sleep up to 6 comfortably. It has two double bedrooms & one twin bedroom. The apartment has a fully fitted kitchen, large bathroom with over bath shower and a roof terrace with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and the Serrania de Ronda mountain ranges. Ideally situated for all local amenities and tourist attractions with many bars and restaurants close by (from low cost tapas to Michelin star!). Perfect to use as your base to explore Andalucia - Seville, Granada, Cordoba and the coastal resorts. It is also possible to take a train from Ronda to Algeciras and get the high speed ferry across to Morocco. Surrounded by typical Spanish white villages that are all well worth a visit. Set in beautiful countryside with great cycling and walking routes. The popular ski resort of Sierra Nevada is located just above Granada and is roughly 2 hours away.

About Michelle

Having searched through Southern Italy, France and Spain over the last five years for a holiday home, it seems quite uncanny that we should settle on Ronda as my husband and I are both from the Rhondda in South Wales. We are Michelle and Dave and are more than happy to share our little 'home from home' with you as we know that you will enjoy Ronda and all it has to offer as much as we do. We always look forward to our next visit and enjoy sharing our adopted second home with our family and friends. Who knows, perhaps in years to come we may be able to spend more time in Ronda and less in the Rhondda.

Why Michelle chose Ronda

We stumbled across Ronda quite by chance at the beginning of 2011 after looking for a holiday home in other parts of the world. We immediately fell in love with the area and the friendliness of the people. The apartment is in a perfect location, set on a quiet side street yet close enough to all attractions, shops, restaurants & bars, making it easy to get around town without having to drive but it's also close to the beautiful countryside. The coast is only a 45 minute drive away and is great for a day out but it's always nice to get back to Ronda. Real Spain!

What makes this apartment unique

We enjoy the slower way of life in Ronda, watching the mist rise on the mountains in the early morning and the warmth of the winter sun makes this place very special. The wood burning stove on winter evenings makes the apartment homely and the spectacular views from the roof terrace are second to none.

Nearing the end of our 9 week vacation and this has to be our favourite so far. Cannot fault anything, an absolute oasis!! From first email to our final farewells this has been the perfect stay . . . . except for one thing!!! Just not long enough. Will start cleaning up our place for that house swap!

Excellent apartment with all facilities in an excellent location for the shops & sightseeing. Could not have found a better place to stay for out first visit to Ronda! Was worth getting a car from Malaga Cars as suggested by Michelle as we were able to visit 'Cueva de la Pilates'. It was my husbands 50th birthday & we got him a surprise race day at Ascari which is only minutes from Ronda. He said it was 'Awesome'.

Notes on accommodation: As the apartment is part of an old Spanish house, it keeps very cool during the typically hot summer days however, the property is centrally heated and also has a wood burning stove for those chilly winter evenings. All windows are double glazed and are fitted with shutters and fly screens. If you have any questions regarding the apartment or the area please don't hesitate to contact us as we would be more than happy to help in any way we can. Also, please can we ask that there is no smoking inside the apartment. Outside: The terrace provides stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges and is equipped with patio furniture and BBQ to help you enjoy alfresco meals and is perfect for relaxing with a glass of local wine on warm summer evenings. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are included - Not beach towels. The property is cleaned before and after your stay - additional cleaning can be arranged if required. Other: There is also a 3rd bedroom which is equipped with a good quality double sofa bed and some pilates equipment.

Ronda Apartment

Ronda is a beautiful Spanish city and this excellently located apartment offered an excellent base to explore all that Ronda and the surrounding area has to offer. Michelle offered excellent advice on restaurants etc. before we arrived and Claire, who met us in Ronda, was exceptionally helpful. The apartment is just outside of the old city on a quiet cobbled street. We had a hire car and were able to park for free just a short walk from the apartment on a flat section of road near the 8 spout fountain. Finding the apartment was a little tricky but once we arrived in Ronda we phoned Claire who came to meet us. Basically the apartment is very near the puente Nuevo, once you cross the bridge take the immediate first right at the cross roads turn left and follow the road round until you begin to go downhill, at this point try and park, the 8 spout fountain is at the bottom of the hill.

Excellent Apartment in the heart of Ronda

We had a great week in Ronda.

This is a lovely apartment, very well fitted out, comfortable and clean, with a roof terrace to sit out on.

Michelle was very helpful sending us all the information we needed. We were then met on arrival and shown around the apartment and given further great advice on what to do in Ronda.

The apartment is very close to the old part of Ronda, the bridge over the gorge and the main shopping area.

I had a problem finding the apartment, but that was because I was using a sat nav with 8 year old maps, and it kept trying to take me the wrong way up one way streets. When I switched to Google Map navigation the problem was solved. Having said that, the apartment is situated on a very narrow one way street on a steep hill, with difficult access by car. To park there unattended a resident's permit is required to be displayed in the car (I only found this out after asking the people living in the apartment below). We found parking places with a certain amount of difficulty in neighbouring streets. (We noticed that almost all the 'native' cars in Ronda had scratches and/or bumps on their wings from parking right up beside houses!)

Ronda is a lovely town with lots to see and do, plenty of good restaurants, and lovely countryside and villages within easy access.

We had very good weather and were able to go on several beautiful walks in and around Ronda and the surrounding mountains.

Superb base

As a family of four with 2 teenage daughters we found the apartment to be more spacious than expected. It is clearly well looked after with everything we needed. The apartment is centrally located with the old town only a few minutes walk away, as is the village swimming pool which was a real find on hot days. We had a car and found so much to do in the area, especially around the pueblo Blanco's (Zahara a favourite) that the time went too quickly. Beaches and even Morocco were within an easy drive. Highly Recommended.

Superb stay

My husband and I stayed here for a week. The apartment is perfectly placed for exploring the main streets in Ronda and less than a 5 minute walk from the Puente Nuevo that is the link to the old town. Ronda is a fabulous place to explore and everyone is so friendly. There are so many places to eat and drink, of all price ranges, though we found that it was very inexpensive everywhere in general. It was extremely hot when we were there (almost 40c) but the accommodation was great and the ceiling fans helped us cool down when it was advisable to stay indoors. We couldn't have wanted for anything. Michelle and Dave had thought of everything, from a good selection of books, films and games, a sewing kit and everything you need on a roof terrace. The views from the top are spectacular and we spent many a lazy evening up there as it was cooler and breezy after 7pm. The hose pipe was perfect for cooling our feet! Ronda is definitely somewhere we would visit again. Thank you Michelle and Dave for the use of your lovely home.

I stayed in the apartment for a week in late June with my wife Gillian and baby boy Daragh,

First of all, Ronda is a beautiful place to visit.

The apartment was spacious and finished to a very high standard throughout, filled with tasteful furniture and fittings.

Quite unlike alot of holiday rentals which can be clinical with poor fixtures.

The beds were new and very comfortable and the apartment stayed cool throughout our stay in spite of the July heat.

The location couldn't be better,a short stroll to the stunning bridge of Ronda and only one minute from the main square although still located in a quiet Spanish setting.

Michelle,the owner, was also very helpful to any queries we had through e mail.

There is also a terrace with stunning views of the surrounding area which we used in the evenings.

We will definately return and I couldn't recommend it highly enough if visiting the area.

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

The town of Ronda has many diverse opportunities for an active holiday. The area is known for its excellent walking and cycling routes. If this isn't your thing, what about horse riding, cookery, hang-gliding, para gliding, hot air balloon rides.

Ronda also has a very nice Sports Club that has:-

- A games room

- A fully equipped gym

- Club bar area

- Restaurant area

- 4 padel courts (this is a very popular sport in Spain)

- 3 tennis courts

- A football field

- Semi Olympic swimming pool of 25 meters

- Basketball court

- Indoor football room

- Squash room

The area is also popular with bird watchers, nature lovers and seekers of culture with its many museums and architecturally beautiful buildings, Ronda has something for everyone.

There is an indoor and two outdoor swimming pools that are within walking distance of the apartment, however the outdoor pools are only open between June and September.


The nearest beaches are just 45 minutes away at Marbella with Puerto Banus perhaps the most famous. Between Marbella Town and Estepona lies Puerto Banus. Renowned as a holiday resort and home to the rich and famous, Puerto Banus offers one of the best year round climates in Europe.

Some of the beaches of the Costa de la Luz are also just 1hr 30 min away.


From airports Ronda is about 1hr 20mins from Malaga, 2hrs from Seville, 1hr 45mins from Jerez & 1hr 30mins from Gibralta - Malaga is the nearest but the other airports are just as accessible! Easyjet, Ryanair & Vueling offer low cost flights from many airports. Convenient car hire from all airports. Great train and bus links between Ronda and Malaga as well as many other towns and cities in the region. Ronda bus station is a 10 min walk from the apartment & the train station is a 15 min walk.

- Montejaque is a 20 min drive

- The lake at Zahara is a 45 min drive

- Golf, Club de Campo La Zagaleta in Benahavís 40 min drive

- Malaga is a 1hr 30 min drive

Ronda is one of Andalucía's loveliest towns, spectacularly situated, steeped in history, reputedly Hemmingway's favourite city in all of Spain. Winters can be cold but in the main it's a delightful climate with 300 or so days of sunshine each year, and daytime summer temperatures usually around 30ºC. There are plazas in the surrounding streets where one can take coffee and drinks together with the wonderful local tapas. The narrow streets are full of interest with white washed walls, cobblestones and many beautiful churches and historic buildings. The parks and the architecture are a joy, spend an afternoon at the Mondragon Palace once the residence of Kings. The cool patios and jasmine scented gardens with the refreshing sound of fountains, it is easy to imagine oneself back in time when the Moors ruled this part of Spain. Ronda is a special place; it is one of those places that pulls you back time after time. One never tires of its beauty. Along side all of this culture, are many modern day shops where one can buy almost anything. The restaurants are many and some are famed for their gastronomic excellence. Ronda although visited by tourists from all over the world has not been spoilt or over run. Wander the streets at your own pace and take in the magnificent architecture, sit for a while in one of the many delightful little squares and just breathe in the atmosphere. You might take a horse-drawn carriage and clip clop around the main tourist sights or if you are feeling a little more energetic take a guided walking tour. The town centre has a range of shops and supermarkets with a daily food market and a large general market held every Sunday morning.
