Our peaceful village location and award winning gardens are perfect for relaxation after sightseeing, rock-pooling or surfing. The outdoor pool is great for cooling off and children can enjoy the play area and challenge parents to a game of table tennis, pool or air hockey. A relaxing BBQ in the grounds or a meal at the local village pub 2 miles away rounds off the perfect day. Our aim during your stay is to help you get the most from this beautiful part of Cornwall. We welcome dogs and families and can recommend some wonderful walks for everyone to enjoy.

About the Owner

We fell in love with The Old Rectory as soon as we saw it - such a historic and gorgeous house and so wonderful a place to live and work. We are pleased to share our piece of paradise with you. Chris and I both work part time as well as helping you to enjoy your holiday and fielding the needs of three growing young people, who continually make us proud. They appreciate the location and lifestyle which the move from the Midlands has offered us all.

South East Cornwall is a gem - I never want to live anywhere else. I love the sea, and the beautiful countryside and walks around the area. Our location also allows easy access to Plymouth and its wonderful theatre, which we visit at least once a month - so many shows to choose from. Another less well known theatre opens its doors in the summer - Sterts, the Minack of the East. We always have a healthy involvement in the shows there and I love watching the huge variety this open air canopy covered theatre produces. Living in a village has a such a sense of community and Lanreath is no exception. I grew up in a village and feel I have come home living here.

Activity and Interests


Looe's popular and safe sandy beach is 6 miles away, with numerous rock pools to explore. Talland Bay is 5 miles. There are many secluded coves to visit and the North Coast for the larger surfing waves is about an hours drive.


Plymouth (channel port) 20 miles

Newquay (airport) 28 miles

A car is recommended.


The pretty fishing villages of Looe and Polperro are both 6 miles distant. National Trust properties are well represented with Anthony, Cotehele, Lanhydrock the closest. Other historic estates include Mount Edgecumbe and Port Eliot. Plymouth with further National Trust ideas, a gin distillery, the National Marine Aquarium and all amenities is 20miles away. Eden Project takes 25 minutes and has lots on offer all year round. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a favourite of mine.

Further Details:

We have a community run village shop, well stocked and located at the end of the drive. For a supermarket shop, try Liskeard or Bodmin. Looe has many restaurants with differing flavours and prices to suit all.

Looe celebrates all things foody at the end of June; has a festival of the sea and a very popular music festival in September. The narrow alleys are sure to delight; the sandy beach is great for sunbathing and crabbing from the quay is popular with the children. You will be spoilt for choice with gorgeous scenery, pretty villages to explore and more beaches and sandy coves than you could possibly visit in one stay with us.

Having help and advice about the area is something we appreciate when we holiday and try to provide both as written material and a personal service when you need it. I like to personally show you around your apartment and tell you something of the area when you arrive. Usually then exploring the garden and the swimming pool take preference - after the cream tea of course!
