About Anne Masters

My husband and I both work for the NHS and sympathetically renovated our pigsty in 2006. We live in a delightful grey stone cottage on the same site as our holiday studio but far enough away for us and our guests to have privacy. We love to share our holiday studio with like minded guests who like the peace and quiet of the countryside and watch the world go by gazing at the wonderful views down the valley and over the fields to Shortwood. A wonderful warm welcome awaits all our guests.

Anne Masters purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Anne Masters chose Shropshire

After purchasing our cottage we decided to renovate the pigsty with a view to looking into the tourist market in this area. We feel we are very lucky to live in this wonderful part of Shropshire and love to share it with like minded guests.

What makes this cottage unique

Quiet, peaceful with stunning views Steeped in History. Lots of rare red kites circle above and we think it is just a lovely place to spend time.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Excellent location for a peaceful break. Close enough to Ludlow etc for daily trips. Cottage extremely well equipped. It is definitely a property we would return to. Feb 2012.

Quiet, rural location - warm and comfortable - well equipped - wood burner - friendly and helpful owner - strongly recommended. Jan 2012.

Lovely location, plenty of wildlife around, badger around one night snorting away! Cows in the field 1mtr away, buzzards soaring over the cottage every morning, what more would one want? Golfers need to visit Church Stretton Golf Course (3rd highest course in GB) STUNNING!! Ludlow well worth visit. Oct 2011.

Beautifully decked out studio at the back of owners house. The studio’s front door decked out onto a small patio with picnic bench which stepped onto a large field filled with inquisitive cows and other woodland creatures. The studio was well laid out, everything you would need for a long stay. Best bits were log fires and cosy evenings.

Owner's Response: What a lovely recommendation..... thank you so much. Apart from the fabulous weather you also had Alfie Bowes, Michael Ball and Sir Cliff Richard performing at Walcot Hall a couple of fields away. Not bad for a little pig sty! We look forward to welcoming you back to Shortwood and we have a couple more visitors in the field now. Two horses!! Anne x

Lovely escape from it all...

Don't let the name put you off, this is a lovely one bed holiday cottage in the beautiful Shropshire hills. One note that Wifi was rather intermittent, however this probably was a good thing!

Surprisingly spacious hideaway in superb Shropshire countryside.

  • 5 of 5

Surprisingly spacious and in a lovely setting, we really liked the accommodation. Views over lovely Shropshire countryside while having a morning coffee and watching the red kites helped make it an ideal holiday getaway. Anne is so friendly and helpful and offered lots of good suggestions on activities. We would love to stay again and the visit the places we did not have time for.

Just beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Our first visit to Shropshire, What a stunning county and in the midst of it was our lovely cottage. Anne met us when we arrived, she is so warm and friendly and so obviously in love with her surroundings. Anne gave us a lovely tour of all that the little cottage offered and the beautiful garden. Inside was a treat of shortbread along with a selection of teas.

We settled in and soon became relaxed and enjoying the peace and quiet. The cottage had all the facilities for a comfortable stay, with lots of seating areas outside so we could enjoy the spectacular display of Red Kites each evening. The nearest supermarket was at Craven Arms, so stock up well. and there are some wonderful scenic routes along Long Mynd and Cleo Hills, not forgetting Stipstones. Thankyou Anne so much from us both, we feel very refreshed and a little of our heart is left in Shropshire.

Owner's Response: Hello Steve and Margaret Many thanks for your kind words and on Sunday the day after you left Peter and I couldn't believe it as we counted 30 Red Kites catching the thermal lift over Shortwood. It was a sight to behold that's for sure. The little blackbird is doing well and hopping around the garden under the supervision of Mum. I hope you had a safe trip home and I wonder if you could text me your address as I think Steve left his jacket!! A warm welcome awaits you if you decide to come and visit our lovely County in the future. Kindest Regards. Annie
