Casa do Alto Villa sits at the top of a sympathetically developed hill called Quinta das Raposieras. The property is very private and not overlooked. You do need a car here but there is also a local bar, 2-3 cafe/restaurants on the hill (where English is spoken). The Tennis Centre is 5 minutes walk away and offers coaching, court hire, cafe facilities and a very friendly, helpful service. The hill is a delightful mixture of homes and holidays homes for locals and Europeans. Casa do Alto has panoramic views of the countryside down to the ocean. A large sun terrace, a decent sized pool, a Little Tikes Playhouse, a side terrace with BBQ and shaded outdoor eating area. The property has Air Con in the 2 bedrooms and ground floor reception room. There is another reception room on the first floor with stunning, far reaching views.

About the Owner

Casa do alto has been in my family since I was 11yrs. It's been 25 years since and I still holiday here every year with my husband and children. Sam and Jess are 4 and 7 now but they've been coming since birth. They call it their "white house". They love to play bat and ball, boules or skittles on the large sun terrace, hide in the Little Tikes play house or jump into the refreshing ample pool.

Casa do alto (house at the top) is at the top of a hill called Quinta das Raposeiras, which is in the village of Bordeira. The villa is rustic, what it lacks in mod cons, it makes up for in charm and character. It's extremely peaceful and has panoramic views of the countryside to the Atlantic. We love it here and have a wealth of information to share with you if you think you might do too.

Folklore has it, Lorraine Chase was going to buy Casa do Alto if we didn't so I took the papers home and amazingly my parents decided to go for it! They led busy lives and enjoyed the rustic, quiet and relaxing nature of the setting. Also it's location. It's also just 20 minutes from Faro Airport, just 25 minutes to the ocean (Vale do Lobo for example) and just 10 minutes from Sao Braz (historic town including pretty square and a large Lidl) or 15 minutes from much larger historic town Loule which includes a variety of hypermarkets, shops, trinket stalls plus daily fresh fruit, vegetable and fish market You do need to hire a car for this property but on the hill there is a cafe, restaurant and tennis centre for court hire including a kid's mini court or tennis coaching.

This property would suit keen tennis players or keen runners as the hill has a variety of gradients to work up a sweat with.


20 minutes by car to Vale do Lobo, a contemporary beach resort with high class golf (often used by the England Football Team for training and R&R), restaurants, nightlife and crazy golf. Or 20 minutes from Faro Beach, a "city" beach lined with authentic fish restaurants with fresh catch, bars, local surfers and holiday makers. This area has many fantastic beaches, the owner can recommend beaches for surfing, body boarding, snorkelling or privacy, all within a 25 to 50min drive of the villa.


Faro is the nearest airport and it's an easy 20 minutes drive. Car hire is essential. For days or nights out local cab firms can be booked via the cafe at the bottom of the hill.


Please contact the owner directly about your interests so she can tell you all about the local area. Suffice to say there are plenty of authentic villages and towns to sample Algarvian life and food.

Further Details:

The Algarve now has a fantastic array of super and hypermarkets from Lidl to Pingo Doce to Modelo plus lively fresh fish, fruit and vegetable markets where you can practice your Portuguese and buy fresh produce. Most supermarkets are open 7 days a week. Banks however and smaller shops will close at lunch time and re-open in the afternoon. We can recommend restaurants in nearby villages and towns and further afield to suit all budgets. Please contact the owner directly to discuss your requirements.

Terms and Conditions
A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total rent is required at the time of booking. The balance of the rental is payable 6 weeks before your holiday. The sterling can be paid by cheque or bank transfer. A refundable security deposit of £100 sterling in cash is required at the start of the holiday, which will be returned following an inspection of the property that nothing has been broken or damaged before you leave. Confirmation will be by email on clearance of deposit.

The defining features of this property are the extra large sun terrace, (room for everybody) the ample swimming pool and the side BBQ area which is secluded, cooler and has a peaceful view of the garden. The property also has air conditioning in the 2 bedrooms and lounge. This is a god send in the summer. There is a small additional charge for this. The property and interior is otherwise homely and rustic. The kitchen is equipped with a kettle, sink (view onto side terrace), fridge, cooker and microwave, washing machine, ironing board and iron but no dishwasher. The lounge has ample seating for 4, a dining table with chairs for 6, a TV with Sky channels and a view onto the pool terrace. There are 2 simple bedrooms (double and 2 x single both with their own bathrooms.
