Wangford Farm, (no longer working) is surrounded by fields and woodland, ideal for relaxing or walks in this area of natural beauty. Our cottages offer our guests superb 1 & 2 double bedroom spacious self catering holiday accommodation, all have en-suite bathrooms, all with modern appliances, fast free wi-fi, HDtv, DVD/CD, iPod dock, private gardens & quality furniture and of course ample parking. All in a beautiful location just minutes from Southwold, shopping, beaches, pier, restaurants and also easy access to the A12 and a myriad of visitor attractions for adults and children; Safari parks, theme parks, stately homes and wildlife reserves, castles great shops and more all along the Heritage Coast. The Lodge, bright white decor throughout offers our guests 4star gold accommodation. The double bedroom and kitchen lead off the open plan living/dining room which has leather settee and chair, oak tables, HDtv, DVD-blu-ray, DAB radio iPod dock. Wooden floors throughout the cottage add to the general spacious feel. French windows open onto decking with furniture and overlooks gardens and sunsets. The kitchen has every modern appliance; dishwasher, electric cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, blender, toaster (no washing machine) etc. A utility cupboard houses Iron and board, and cleaning items.

The bedroom has light oak furnishing, bed, bedside tables, touch lights, wardrobe with drawers, thick pile woollen rugs and blackout blinds. Fully tiled, the white en-suite bathroom has all you'd expect of accommodation of this calibre; with a bath and shower catering for all tastes. The double glazing and full C.H. round off this lovely all season romantic hideaway.

Lovely, peaceful accommodation

We have just returned from an excellent week at Wangford Farm, our second visit. This time we rented The Lodge, which is very smart, comfortable and pleasantly warm. The rooms are of a decent size and the kitchen is very well equipped. All the furnishings and fittings are to a very high standard and the bathroom is immaculate and always warm as there is a heated towel rail. The shower provides a good, powerful jet and it never ran cool. There is a large flat screen Sony TV which gives an excellent picture and also a mini hifi unit. WiFi worked well, quite fast and without any loss of signal.

David, the owner, is a very affable and helpful fellow and usually on site to sort out any problems, should they arise (not that there were any in our case). A covered parking area is available and this was useful, given the heavy frosts encountered this week.

The farm is located on a very quiet lane with very little traffic passing so it’s an extremely peaceful place. The countryside is flat but pleasant farmland and only 0.6 mile away are the Hen Reedbeds, which are a good place for bird watching (marsh harrier, barn owl, bittern, Cett’s warbler, little egret). From there one can cross the main road to walk along the bank of the River Blyth, from which can be seen vast numbers of ducks, geese, waders and gulls.

It’s an easy walk into Wangford village though this does entail walking about 500 metres on the fairly busy Wangford Road where there is no pavement. High visibility clothing is therefore recommended. The Angel pub in the village centre is cosy and we had an excellent though not cheap dinner there. The New Zealand owners are very friendly and welcoming.

We had excellent weather for the whole week – cold, dry and a lot of sunshine – so were able to enjoy some great walking and bird watching. With a warm, cosy “cottage” to return to after a day in the fresh air, it all made for a most pleasant stay. Highly recommended!
