About the Owner

Tracy and André came over to the Isle of Wight to visit a friend in 2008. We loved the Island, one of the UK's best kept secrets, and decided to get a place in Cowes, a great place from which to explore the island and great for the famous sailing experience. We have both traveled a lot over the years with all the ups and downs of hotels and self catering, so decided to create a modern, relaxing home with all mod cons to make your stay as pleasurable as possible, we love it and hope you will too.

First visit to the Isle of Wight and really enjoyed it. Great place to stay and the house had everything we needed and more. Will definitely be back again !! The Bryants, Worcester.

Loved every minute of it and like the Bryants will be back again, the house was excellent and immaculate base to explore from, thanks. TheMorris's, Northampton.

We had great weather for our August holiday. The house was all we expected and more, thanks,The Bishop family, East Grinstead. You have provided a fantastic base from which we could explore the wonderful sights of the Isle of Wight and Tracy and Andre have put a lot of thought into the facility, ensuring their guests want for nothing. Our holiday was truly memorable, Thank you again and until the next time!! The Gornal Crew.

Lovely well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

A really well equipped cottage in a convenient location, close to the floating bridge in Cowes. We stayed here for two nights whilst attending a wedding on the Island - so nice I wished we were staying longer. The owners were very helpful, responding to any queries quickly during both the booking process and our stay. They provided lots of useful information and had clearly thought about everything visitors to the cottage would need. Would highly recommend is cottage and hope to return in the future.

Lovely, well presented and very clean

  • 5 of 5

Extra clean and tidy house. Great size for the four of us. Thoughtful welcome pack on arrival. The prosecco made me smile. The house was easy to find. Centrally located for access to Cowes. Parking on the drive. Home from home really. Nice to have access to a garden - altho we didn't really use it.

Great place to see Cowes

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed with Tracy for a number of years now sharing the cottage with friends. The cottage is close to the ferry from Southampton, perfect as you can walk to the cottage from the ferry. You are a short walk from Cowes with the shops and restaurants, also nice walks in either direction along the coast.

The cottage is always clean, fresh and welcoming. You feel relaxed and "on holiday" as soon as you walk through the door. There is parking for a small car on the front and a charming garden with a lot of outside seating and tables. There is one large room inside with a dinning table and a lounge seating area which is great for socialising.

We will definitely be back!

Lovely, comfy home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Wight Cottage over half term week and had a great time. The house is minutes from the ferry terminal and floating bridge and is only a short stroll to the High Street. There was a lovely welcome basket on arrival which was a nice touch together with lots of local information and ideas for things to do. The house was very clean and the kitchen was equipped for every occasion and the beds were HUGE and comfy!

Location

From the Owner

We love Cowes as it is a great base from which to discover the Isle of Wight, which has many beautiful secrets. The beaches and Coves all over the island are spectacular many areas have fantastic restaurants as do the towns and villages many with glowing stars including Michelin stars. The outdoor activities are plentiful, sailing, golf, walking, cycling and have many famous music festivals including the Isle of Wight and Bestival festivals. Cowes itself is perfect for perusing the shops. The bars, restaurants, cafes are plentiful and excellent, as is taking a river taxi down to the Folly Inn for lunch or a night out or simply a stroll along the beach, it is so relaxing!

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

There are currently 14 award winning beaches on the Isle of Wight all of which are managed and maintained to the highest standard. In order for the Isle of Wight to gain these awards the beaches have to meet strict criteria as laid down by En Cams. For example the water quality must meet the standards of the Bathing Water Directive.

Travel:

Red Funnel Ferries:High Speed Catamaran: Southampton to Cowes, Car Ferry: Southampton to East Cowes.

Ferry: East Cowes (Chain Ferry from terminal in East Cowes to West Cowes which takes 1 minute).

Wightlink: High Speed Catamaran: Portsmouth Harbor to Ryde, Car Ferry: Portsmouth to Fishbourne or Lymington to Yarmouth.

Hover travel: Hovercraft: Southsea to Ryde.

Distances:

Cowes center is a 5 minute walk and a ten minute walk to the beaches of Cowes and Gurnard. Most other towns, villages, beaches on the Isle of Wight are all accessible via the extensive bus network and easily accessible by car, nothing is very far away, the Isle of Wight is 23 miles wide and 13 miles in length, so the many beautiful areas are accessible.

Further Details:

The Isle of Wight region:

The Isle of Wight is a great place to visit. In some ways time has stood still, with Osbourne House, Carisbrooke Castle and many other timeless attractions. On the other hand, it's where the worlds yachtsmen and women come to compete against the very best, whilst pitting themselves against the complex tides and winds of the Solent (not forgetting to party hard and long afterwards!) for some of the top cups in the world. However, the Isle Of Wight is not just about sailing. The chance to walk on high cliffs in both sun and storm tossed sea before you, may make the visit worthwhile for you. The wealth of really good quality restaurants and convivial pubs may also make you feel at home. This is a destination for any time of year, be it a family break, or an oasis of peace. Wight Cottage can give you all of this.

The Cowes / West Cowes area

Cowes is a wonderful town and has many moods. Cowes Week, Little Britain and the Red Funnel event at Easter are the headline events, though there are many other sailing regattas from March to September each year but Cowes is more than that. It is very much the live connection to the whole Island, a base from which the whole Island can be explored and enjoyed, from Ventnor and St Catherines Point, to Bembridge, to the Needles. The Island is a place of contrast. Enjoy it all from your central base in Cowes! Cowes itself has a wide range of cafes, pubs and restaurants, to suit every taste and budget. There are excellent food and hostelry outlets, from traditional pubs to Indian, Chinese, Italian, or even take a river taxi in the summer to the Folley Inn on the Medina River near Whippingham, for a great night out.
