Ground floor accommodation ideal for people with walking difficulties. Entrance hall & laundry room, Master double bedroom, 2nd small double bedroom, dressing room, Jack & Jill walk-in wet room with wc & wash basin. kitchen/dining room with table & chairs for 4/5 guests. Traditional free-standing gas cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, microwave. Well equipped with crockery, cutlery & utensils. Large comfortable sitting room with sofa, 2 armchairs, TV/DVD player with English satellite reception, books, games & French doors leading to the courtyard. Bring your own videos/DVDs. Outside Les Vignes has its own dining/sunbathing terraces looking out towards a pretty courtyard setting, Petit d'Albret cottage, the Manoir & the Estate's grounds & driveway. Pool & over 3 acres of lovely grounds.
Ideal for families & friends alike, Manoir du Cedre is a charming estate with 3 well-maintained properties comfortably accommodating 2 up to a maximum of 14 guests + 2 babies in cots. Les Vignes & Petit d'Albret Cottages each have 2 bedrooms and can be let separately to smaller groups and provide excellent family accommodation. The adaptable accommodation allows a large group greater privacy than all staying under one roof, as guests can book the 2 self-catered cottages & 1-3 beautiful en-suite bedrooms situated in the private wing of the owner’s 17th century Manoir, all set in 3.3 acres of attractive grounds. Parts of the house are even older as the cellars were constructed in the 13th century. The properties are built on 3 sides of an attractive gravel courtyard boasting summertime displays of flowers, including roses, clematis & lavender. A feature in the courtyard is the raised central fountain with gold fish (unfenced & one metre deep). With several dining & sun bathing terraces, extensive grounds & a fenced & gated 10m x 5m swimming pool with Roman style steps (depth of 1m to 2.1m), the Estate is ideal for a relaxing holiday whether with friends or family. About Deborah and John
Deborah & John at Living French Holidays have been involved in self-catering holiday accommodation in Aquitaine, South West France since 1990 and act as agent to the owner of this Estate. The accommodation and grounds have been personally appraised by us and this is carried out on a continuing basis.
Deborah has a keen eye for detail and prefers to deal with all clients herself to ensure their particular holiday needs are understood and addressed. John speaks Spanish and is always delighted to help our Spanish-speaking clients.
Our philosophy is to ensure that our clients are impartially advised on the most suitable property for their needs. Our aim is to provide good quality, value for money holiday rental accommodation.
We only operate in the Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne of South West of France because they are areas we know and love so well.

£200 p.w. reduction per Manoir bedroom if only 1-2 rooms booked.
25% deposit due once booking confirmed. Balance payment & security deposit due 8 weeks before holiday by bank transfer. The security deposit is returned after your holiday providing there are no deductions due to damage. Security deposits: Les Vignes & Petit d'Albret cottages - £200 each. For the whole Estate of both cottages & 1/2/3 Manoir en-suite guest bedrooms, the security deposit is £550.
The owner does not accept pets.
Changeover day: Saturday with arrival from 4 p.m. onwards. Departure on the last day of a holiday is before 10 a.m.
Please ring to discuss out of season bookings for short/long term periods on either the whole Estate, the 2 cottages or Manoir B&B.
Notes on prices:
For large groups with a max. of 14 guests & 1/2 babies in cots please add the 2 cottage rentals to the Manoir rates. The advertised rental rates are for 3 Manoir en-suite guest bedrooms. Reduction of £200 per Manoir en-suite bedroom if less than 3 rooms booked. Welcome Pack. Bed linen, bathroom/pool towels included & changed weekly. If required, central heating is charged @ 80 Euros per week per cottage. As the Manoir du Cedre Estate is in the country the internet connection can be intermittent.
Activity and Interests
With 270km of Atlantic coastline, the region's western edge is one long expanse of sandy beach. Known as the Cote d'Argent (silver coast) it is a joy to swimmers, surfers & body boarders. Its high, rolling breakers make it one of the best surfing spots in Europe. Dune de Pyla, 3km long/100m high, is the largest natural dune in Europe, a hang gliders & sand boarders delight. The beaches are 1.5 to 2 hours drive. Also lakes, rivers, hot springs, water parks & man-made beaches a short drive away.
Nearest Airports: Bergerac 60 kms, Bordeaux 90 kms. Car hire is essential.
Ports to choose from:Calais (879), Dieppe (677), Le Havre (634), Caen (581), Cherbourg (655) & St. Malo (517). The figures in brackets are Kms. & are the distance between the ports & Bordeaux. It is about another hour to drive to Le Manoir du Cedre.
Eurostar/TGV go to Bordeaux/Marmande/Libourne/La Reole, the nearest stations. Travel is via Paris or Lille. It is easier to change at Lille rather than Paris.
St. Martin du Puy where the Manoir du Cedre Estate is situated, is on the edge of the smallest commune in France, Castelmoron d'Albret with an area of just 3.76 hectares, i.e. 9.3 acres (roughly the size of the Place de l'Étoile in Paris). The population was 55 in 2008. Le Manoir du Cedre is situation between Monségur and Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, about 20 minutes west of Duras. You can walk to the village with its ramparts and dungeons which are part of the original castle. It is a medieval, pretty and well preserved historic village with a pottery shop and tea room.

Nearby to Castelmoron d’Albret are many excellent vineyards and the famous wines of St. Emilion are only 30 minutes drive.
There are lots of walking trails and hiking paths in the area and the local Tourist Office will have details of routes (circuits de randonnées). In the village there are several signs for hiking trails. There are two routes that start from the village - one of 1.5 hours and the other 2.5 hours long. Nearest towns: Sauveterre-de-Guyenne and Monsegur - 8 and 6 kms. away - each with shops, tourist office, hairdressers, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, bars, weekly markets, banks and post office.
Around 30/40 minutes drive to the UNESCO heritage site of St. Emilion in the Gironde, Aquitaine. Around an hour away is the magnificent city of Bordeaux.
Most towns hold a colourful weekly day market, selling excellent local produce. In July & August Monsegur, Duras & Levignac-de-Guyenne hold weekly night markets with entertainment where you can choose local produce to eat, dining at tables laid out in the square. During the summer months fetes are held in nearby villages & towns, often with visiting bands. Visit Monsegur's annual 24 hr. Jazz/Swing Weekend held over the first weekend in July, with up to 30 bands - At Les Colonnes restaurant in Monsegur, every other Tuesday a live jazz band plays whilst you dine.
There are lots of good restaurants, bars/cafés in surrounding towns. Duras has several plus a paper museum & the famous Château des Ducs which was first built in 1137, then enlarged in 1308 by the then owner Bertrand the Got, with the help of his uncle Pope Clement V, to become an impregnable fortress. It is open to the public & situated on the edge of this historic town, with stunning panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. During the 100 years war from 1337 to 1453 the Duke of Aquitaine & King of England sometimes camped there. Château des Ducs is now a jewel in the Aquitaine cultural heritage & hosts regular concerts and wine fairs.
St. Emilion,a medieval town, has an open sided tourist tram for tours of the ancient cobbled streets & nearby famous vineyards. It also has the largest underground monolithic church in Europe, hewn out of a solid limestone cliff between the 8th and 12th centuries.
Several water parks are a short drive away, plus some man-made beaches including one near La Reole & another by the river near to Port-Ste. Foye la Grande. Fresh water lake with sandy beach at Blasimon. Numerous lakes are dotted round the countryside.

- Notes on accommodation: For large parties of 12 to a max. of 14 guests + 2 babies, Le Manoir du Cedre can be let as one Estate with 2 cottages (Les Vignes and Petit d'Albret), plus 1/2/3 beautifully decorated & furnished en-suite guest bedrooms (Lavender, Rose & Blue Rooms) which are situated in the Manoir. The advertised Manoir rental rates are for 3 en-suite guest bedrooms for guests over the age of 16 years. There is a £200 per room per week discount if only 1 or 2 Manoir rooms required. Bed linen, bath & pool towels are provided free of charge & changed weekly. Central heating is available. Each cottage has a complimentary welcome pack of groceries including free range eggs, drinks & home made jam. 2 cots/2 high-chairs available. Petit d'Albret has child stair gates, baby bath & changing mat. Babysitting, extra cleaning & outside catering available on a private basis. The English owner lives in the Manoir & has her own private garden. She does not use pool whilst guests are in residence. Outside: The Manoir du Cedre Estate has 3-acres of hedged/fenced & gated grounds with roses, lavender, clematis, fruit & walnut trees (guests can help themselves when in season). A feature in the central courtyard is the raised central fountain with gold fish (unfenced). Ample parking within the grounds. Situated in a secluded position in the grounds is the attractive fenced & gated 10m x 5m swimming pool. The pool has Roman style steps rather than a step ladder, making it ideal for small children and the elderly. The pool has a water depth of 1m to 2.1m & a surrounding terrace with sun loungers, parasols, small tables & pool play items. The pool & terraces are reached by a slight grassy incline, & they look out over lawns & fields. Table tennis, badminton & boules. Each cottage has its own terrace with an awning to provide shade, BBQ, outside dining table/chairs & sun loungers. Large parties can dine outside together. Manoir guests have an outside covered area with table & chairs.
