About Lucy Miller

The beach at Camber sands truly takes my breath away every time I visit. The spot where my husband proposed, the beach where my children learnt to walk. My escape from it all. Come rain or shine, it always seems so perfect to holiday on the East Sussex Coast. This is our own bolt hole, so we have kept a lot of personal items at the house. We hope you feel like it is a home away from home too. Our children have left some of their favourite toys there. Yours can play with them too when they come. There's always plenty to do in the area - we are sure you will be enjoying some of our favourite haunts too.

Lucy Miller purchased this in 2006

Why Lucy Miller chose Camber

We bought this property because of its close proximity to the beach. It really is less than 10 minutes walk away. Just an hour and a half from London, it was always easy to find an excuse to get away from it all. The open plan, yet compact style of this home means it's great for young families. We have left you a book of local information covering all the fabulous places to visit while you are here. If you don't want to venture out there's good food in the village as well as convenience stores to tide you over.

Lovely cottage within walking distance to the sea

  • 5 of 5

We booked Owlers Cottage somewhat 'last minute' for a weekend in February. Lucy, the owner was very prompt to respond and very helpful with information regarding the property and our stay. The cottage itself is charming, and whilst it isn't very big, it is extremely well equipped (washing up liquid, tea towels hand soap, coffee machine, games, dvds) and worked well for our family of four (2 adults and 2 teens). The cottage is beautifully decorated and has a really 'relaxing' seaside feel and was immaculately clean. The off street parking was a real bonus - we arrived on the Friday and didn't use our car until it was time to leave on the Sunday. We were very lucky with the weather and walked directly from the cottage into Rye on Saturday. The walk was leisurely along a good footpath and took about an hour and meant we enjoyed our pub lunch even more! The wonderful sandy beach at Camber is a short stroll form the house - Highly recommend the property - thank you for letting us stay Lucy!

Great time in Camber Sands

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from our two week's stay in Lucy's wonderful little beach house where we immediately felt at home. The house is nicely decorated and offers all a family needs for a longer stay: dishwasher, washing and drying machine, a nice bathroom plus an extra toilet and last but not least so many wonderful books and toys that our 3 year old boy didn't even have a look at his own toys that we had brought along. Beach equipment is also to your disposal: windshields, ball games, beach towels and all that!!!

Camber itself is only for the beach (which is wonderful for swimming, playing or just looking for nice things you can find!), but nearby Rye is a wonderful ancient little town where you can get all you need and with lots of restaurants and cafés and nice little shops.

Hastings and Battle with 1066 and all that is worth a visit and only 30 minutes away. Canterbury and London are also within reach and always worth a visit.

We truly fell in love with all we found in England and we are sure to come back soon!!!

Great holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with our baby boy for our first family holiday and we were not disappointed. The house itself is perfect for the beach and exploring the Sussex countryside. We had excellent weather so were lucky to have a few days relaxing on the beach which is only a very short walk away. The cottage itself is situated in a quiet and secluded position overlooking fields at the back which was very peaceful. Highlights included our visit to Hastings to explore the old town and ride the funicular railway, and a later trip to see the magnificent De La Warr pavilion in nearby Bexhill. Rye itself is also a must to visit and we stopped off for a drink at the Mermaid pub which has a very colourful history. The cottage is very well equipped for families which makes packing a lot easier! As with most travel cots I would pack a few blankets to pad out the mattress which is quite lumpy in places; with these down my little boy slept happily all week. If I could suggest one thing for improvement I would have preferred a more powerful shower but overall it is a minor comment. From the initial booking to the refund of our deposit Lucy was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful. I would fully recommend a stay in Owlers Cottage

My wife and I and our little boy spent a blissful Easter weekend at this cottage. Whatever you think you need Lucy the owner will have already thought of it so pack light. The cottage is decorated with great care and attention to really give the beach house homely feel. You are 500 metres from the beach find the back lane through the development and go through the kissing gate straight to the dunes. Also Salt Farm is a must, as is the fish mongers just at the bridge into Rye (scallops divine). We will return soon........

Great Stay !

  • 5 of 5

We really loved our stay at Owler's Cottage : it is a lovely, modern, clean, very convenient cottage, with plenty of games and toys and books. We felt as if we were at home! The decoration is simple but really nice. Bed and bath linen is provided. You can walk to the beach (the sand is exceptional!) in about 10 minutes. We thought he village itself is not really terrific, but Rye (10 minutes drive) is a beautiful old town. It is not far from Canterbury, Hastings, and London of course. Lucy (the owner) is very kind and available, she answers all the questions very rapidly and with many details.

We truly advise this cottage!
