Highfield provides the perfect home from home relaxing self catering retreat for large family gatherings and groups of friends, comfort sleeping, seating & dining for up to sixteen people, in a individually decorated extremely well equipped c1867 Victorian property with a wealth of period charm and modern requirements, giving guests the perfect self catering holiday. Highfield provides an excellent destination for large group celebrations, that can be held in the stunning garden room opening into the garden with furnished patios, lawn and orchard, where the views of Matlock are fully appreciated.

Notes on accommodation: The House is fully centrally heated and provides the perfect base for exploring the delights of the Peak District all year round and is decorated for the holiday festive seasons. Here at Highfield we provide our guests with excellent self catering accommodation, over two floors, all six bedrooms are supplied with towels, toiletries and Egyptian cotton bedding. Highfield has Court Yard and drive Parking for up to eight vehicles, secure gardens and orchard with fantastic views over the Derwent Valley, we have four seating areas one covered that can provide dining and seating for sixteen plus, with BBQ, Patio heater and selection of children's games, balls etc. Our Kitchen is well stocked with basics from candles for the Garden room & Lounge to herbs and Spices, every cooks dream. Several ipod docking Stations are provided throughout the house. On arrival at Highfield guests are greeted with a welcome pack of local produce, fresh flowers and log fires. Outside: Highfield is a detached property with Court Yard and drive Parking for up to eight vehicles, secure gardens and orchard with fantastic views over the Derwent Valley, we have four seating areas one covered that can provide dining and seating for sixteen plus, with BBQ, Patio heater outdoor lighting and selection of children's games, balls etc. Hot tub hire is available upon request. Fabulous, cozy, informal, yet grand enough to warrant a special occasion!

12 of us stayed at the main house and we were 20 in total, with the remainder of guests staying in local B&B's for a weekend of 60th birthday celebrations. And what a weekend. The house is superb. Comfy, casual, yet sufficiently grand enough to be suitable for a special weekend of lots of food and wine. Fantastic bedrooms with really comfy beds, good sized entertaining rooms and very thoughtful bits & bobs left in the kitchen means you don't have to buy every last salt & pepper, dishwasher tabs which is always very much appreciated! We raided the farm shop at Chatsworth for a buffet on Saturday night, the best of cheese, meats, pork pies etc combined with enough wine to sink a battleship! The house provided enough plates, glasses etc without us having to use paper plates & plastic glasses which was a big plus. The small rooms provided good chat areas and the large dining room with pool table gave us our gaming area and enough room for the Cranium tournament! Location is excellent, taxis came on time and found it and the well stocked log shed was put to good use. Overall a perfect place for a great family/friends gathering.

A couple of points to inform the next guests. We missed the small print that the hot tub in the main pictures was an optional extra. We all came with swimmers and had we have known we would have ordered it in! I think this should be made very clear, and in fact I would remove the image from the main pictures. There is only one shower to share, the 2 main sharing bathrooms have proper shower, one tub with a hand held shower, no screen or curtain and the 3rd is an en-suite up a 'helter skelter' staircase, not at all suitable for elderly, or in my case a sprained ankle, but a handy hide away for someone who likes privacy. These are minor niggles and in no way detracted from our fabulous weekend. The owners obviously really care about renters having a fabulous time and give the house with far more than you would expect at a very fair price. We will hopefully be back if they let us!

Brill

16 of us stayed-11 adults and 5 children. It was a family celebration and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. There are plenty of rooms to sneak off into if you want a breather! The garden was great fun for all.

Wonderful place for a group holiday

We had a fantastic family weekend with 12 of us meeting from various parts of the country and 2 from Brazil. The house was perfect with plenty of space and the garden was also beautiful. We could easily have had another 5 people at least to join us. Wonderful views, comfortable beds, all we could want in the house for all ages. We hired a hot tub on top which was an added bonus. Many thanks. Highly recommended.

Stunning property with amazing views

This house is a absolutely stunning, the decor is beautiful ever little detail just makes the character of the house so special. We rented it for a hen do and the large room with the pool table was ideal for us all to be together on an evening. Amazing x
