Neptune Lodge, Upton Cross, Liskeard, is on the eastern edge of Bodmin Moor in a sheltered spot. - Peaceful position with far reaching views. Ideally located to access all that Cornwall has to offer.

Neptune Lodge is one of four modern detached lodges, double glazed with central heating and equipped to a high standard. A wonderful base to both explore the beauty of Bodmin Moor and to enjoy country pursuits, it is also within a 30 minute drive of the lovely south coast beaches. Two public houses serving good food are within 1.5 miles, The Manor Inn at Rilla Mill and The Caradon at Upton Cross where there is also a Post Office and General Store. The market town of Liskeard is 15 minutes by car. Siblyback Lake, 6 miles, offers angling and a water sports, and salmon and trout fishing is also available on local rivers. There are riding stables, clay pigeon shooting grounds (professional tuition available) and golf courses in the area. Onsite, there is an astronomical observatory and the quality of the sky is wonderful.

Ken and Muriel Bennett. Married with 3 children and a grandson, we are both Cornish and have allways lived in the county. Our children are scattered around the UK but love coming back to their roots for visits.

For the last few years we have been developing a quality site and now live in the end lodge We are offering Neptune Lodge to rent for holidays and as we live on site we are able to help with any queries visitors might have.

Stunning location, attentive hosts, well equipped accomodation a real home from home.

Ken and Muriel were superb, very attentive hosts. We managed to get lost on route to the lodge, one call to Ken and he jumped in his car and came to rescue us, when we reached the lodge we had a cream tea waiting for us, what more could you ask for. The lodge is on a wonderful spot and the views are amazing, the field for the children to play in at he front of the property was a huge bonus, safe and secluded they had a fabulous time. The lodge was light and spacious and immaculately presented with a well equipped kitchen, Ken and Muriel really thought of everything. Can't wait until we visit again in October.

Quiet and beautiful location

Clean and spacious lodge which adequately met the needs of our family consisting of 6 adults and 1 baby. Beautiful views of the countryside from the front of the lodge. Quiet location but easily accessible. Muriel and Ken were very hospitable and we were met with a cornish cream tea We stayed in October but would love to see it in the summer when the days are longer. Would thoroughly recommend it and would definitely stay there again.

We have been out and about on site today generally catching up with the gardening and cutting the grass short, ready for our summer visitors. The birds seem to appreciate our efforts, following us around and finding plenty of tasty morsels to eat. There are lots of swallows this year.

A lovely break in a beautiful lodge

We stayed in the lodge for just under a week and it was such a lovely break, picturesque views in an ideal location, the lodge itself was fantastic, it was clean,fully equipped and child friendly, it was lovely waking up here, we felt very much at home and relaxed. Ken and Muriel were the best hosts/owners you could ask for, so welcoming and friendly, we were greeted on arrival and enjoyed a lovely Cornish tea as soon as we arrived. This was the the best uk break we've had, our little boy also enjoyed it and we're already thinking about returning. Thank you so much, definitely recommend visiting to anyone. Location

From the Owner

We have lived in this area since 1986. We chose this rural site when we still had children at home. We are in a lovely position on the sheltered slopes beneath Bodmin Moor. There are villages near by and a choice of 3 towns within easy reach, giving opportunities for all the outdoor activities families wish to enjoy. Neptune Lodge is in a quiet rural part of East Cornwall with very little trafic. This makes for easy access to the A30 and A38 main roads leading to all that Cornwall has to offer. The Eden Project is about 30 mins away as is the historic City of Plymouth just over the border in Devon. To date some of our visitors have spent a lot of their holiday in our area, finding a great variety of things to do.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Barpub : The nearest pub is awalk down a quiet lane away. at 0.5 Miles Nearest Golf : at 10 Miles Nearest Train : at 8 Miles Nearest Restaurant : We are surounded by villages with eating places. at 1 Miles

Coast/Beach:

We are sited in a sheltered position and Bodmin Moor is only 10 minute's drive away. The moor provides walking opportunities at all levels. Our nearest village Upton Cross is one mile away and boasts The Sterts Open Air Theatre. The south Cornwall coast with the sandy beaches of Looe and Seaton are a 30 minute drive away and the North coast is very accessible.

Further Details:

Activities in the area include riding stables and clay pigeon shooting with professional tuition available.

Siblyback Lake is a 15 minute drive away, it offers several water activities such as cable wakeboarding, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and land based activities including cycling, archery, high ropes and climbing. You may wish to hire a Segway or just enjoy a walk around the perimeter of the lake.

There are wonderful views from Neptune Lodge with plenty of walks in a wooded valley with the river Lyhner running through it. We are able to enjoy an exceptional dark sky, our visitors from towns or cities are amazed at how many stars are visible from here. Bodmin Moor is nearby and can provide more extensive walking and is a World Heritage Mining site. Approx. one mile away at Upton Cross is the Sterts Open Air Theature which provides all sorts of entertainment. Neptune Lodge is a very spacious well equipped holiday home and a lovely setting for BBQ's etc.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Electricity and central heating are included. Outside: Outside to the front is a sheltered sun terrace with splendid far-reaching views. Both a barbecue and patio dining set are provided and there is a clothes line to the side of the property. There is also a field in front which visitors may enjoy, young children will need to be supervised as it is not entirely enclosed. The Lodge has adequate off-road parking directly outside the Lodge for several vehicles. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are included. The Lodge will be cleaned at changeovers. Clean bed linen will be provided each week for longer stay guests. We provide a selection of cleaning materials plus soap and toilet rolls in each bathroom.
