About Michele Rickards

My name is Michele. I am English and bought and renovated the farmhouse in 2006.

Michele Rickards purchased this farmhouse in 2006

Why Michele Rickards chose Dordogne

I chose La Petite Foret (The Little Forest) because of the peaceful location and the private rambling forest that came with the property. The place is surrounded by trees and paddocks and the natural fresh water fountain at the edge of the forest. I have loved to sit in the shade on the terrace and drink my morning tea and only hearing the birds and watching the kids playing in the pool. I enjoy entertaining and have had many a bbq and pool party well into the early hours with my teen children and other families. I love the feeling of living outside and at La Petite Foret, you do!

What makes this farmhouse unique

Gorgeous place

  • 4 of 5

Clean and tidy, lovely comfortable house with lots of privacy and space. The pool is lovely. Owner very helpful and easy to deal with.

Only downsides we thought are that the house sleeps up to 9/10 but cooking there for that many could be difficult. Also, just like anywhere else on holiday in the countryside, take A LOT of citronella candles!

Highly recommended. Thanks again Michele and Cato who was a huge help onsite.

Owner's Response: So pleased you had a good time and that it lived up to your expectations. I do understand that the logistics of cooking for many people can be a challenge. I had a party of 14 prior to your stay (airbeds on the floor).....and that was challenge but we did it with all hands on deck and the dishwasher a godsend! You were terrific guests and would be happy to see you again if ever you chose to visit another time. Michèle

Simply Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

14 days of bliss!!! House is absolutely stunning and all you could possibly need is provided, (accept for a car, which is a necessity) the owners have thought of everything and the management team were very attentive and accommodating. We were very lucky with the weather so the provision of fans in all bedrooms were a god send as were children's games and colouring etc. The garden is an amazing space, Idyllic quiet location - it was the perfect way to start the school holidays, thank you.

Great Accomodation

  • 5 of 5

Had a great trip to the Dordogne. The Accommodation was exactly what we were looking for with a mixture of adults and children. It was an ideal base to explore the area.

The house is clean and comfortable throughout with a great area outdoors for meal times and relaxing with a glass or two of wine. The pool is clean and an ideal size for 9 people in the house, it could have done with being a couple of degrees warmer but I believe this is down to abnormal weather over the summer months.

Sarlat market is a must with a fantastic medieval town. La Bugue is another impressive town with a very good market.

Les Foret Des Ecureuils is also a must particularly if you have children in your party. Seems expensive when you initially turn up but great value for money once you have spent 3 hours zip wiring through the forest.

Lac de Neuf Font is a pleasant day out and great value for money.

The scenery in this part of the world is amazing and well worth a trip; we will be revisiting and hopefully staying at La Petite Foret.

Great Gite

  • 5 of 5

A little bit of paradise. Set in wonderful grounds the Gite offered spacious accommodation and is well equipped. There is a fantastic Abri and a secluded pool. The Abri was great a great living area for alfresco dining and family gathering. We had regular morning and evening visits from deer with their young. Great area for cycling, lots to see and do in the area. Gouffre de Proumeyssac (cave) well worth a visit. Large markets at Sarlat and Bergerac with many more close by. Le Bugue is a wonderful place to walk around with its cobbled streets then down by the river for a picnic. The aquarium here is lovely for children

Michael & Karen (management team) were great and on hand if required

We will definitely be going back
