Cartshed Cottages at Sharrington Hall are both stylish and comfortable. A mix of vintage and contemporary furniture, oak floors, natural materials and Farrow & Ball colour palette create a relaxed mood befitting of the local North Norfolk environment. Each cottage is inspired by something that for us, exudes the essence of North Norfolk – Seal, Samphire, Sky and Shell. A spacious 2-bedroom 2-bathroom cottage, Sky’s palette is reminiscent of the far-flung horizons of the North Norfolk countryside. Palest hues of blue, lavender and silver grey echo the vast skies and the presence of the coastline just a few miles away.

A large living area boasts a contemporary L-shaped sofa and log burning stove in large open fireplace. The kitchen is painted coastal blue and offers a rustic table with elm bench and chairs seating four.

Upstairs are the two bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms: one with kingsize bed and a huge walk-in shower with light pebble tiles, oversized console basin and a separate WC; the other with a superking/twin bed opening into our most generous bathroom, with cast iron roll top bath, WC, oversized console basin and pretty dressing table.

Sky is a great base for a beach walk at Holkham followed by a warming lunch at the Hoste Arms in Burnham Market.

Sharrington is perfectly located for exploring the North Norfolk coast. Blakeney and Cley are c4 miles away, Wells and Holkham c10 miles.

Distances:

The best that North Norfolk has to offer is all within easy reach, from coastal walking to antique hunting to gastro eateries. Holt (2m) & Burnham Market (16m) for antiques and shopping, Blakeney & Cley (4m), Salthouse & Morston (5m), Wells (10m) for seaside villages, salt marshes, beach huts and walks. Holkham Hall & Beach (11 m), Felbrigg, Sheringham, Blickling & Houghton Halls (7-13m) for stately homes and stunning scenery, Pensthorpe (8m) & Cley marshes (5m) for wonderful wildlife.

Further Details:

The area is becoming increasingly renowned for its pubs and local food. Whether heading out for an atmospheric meal or cooking in, Sharrington Hall is ideally located for satisfying any appetite.

The famous Sharrington Strawberries is a two minute stroll away (in season!); the excellent deli/cafe/restaurant Back to the Garden is less than a mile down the road; Holt has fine local butchers, fishmongers and grocers; and veg/egg stalls outside plenty of front doors for that home-grown feel.

All the local gastro pubs and eateries are an easy drive away: pubs, farm cafes, oyster caravans, seafood shacks, fish'n'chips, village cafes, smokehouses, coffee vans and a Michelin star. You can even get a flat white if you know where to go.

We offer special couple rates on our 2-bed properties i.e. lower than advertised on this site.
Changeover days are Monday and Friday only. We can occasionally consider other check in/out days at up to 3 days notice max, based on availability. Please note rates for shorter breaks differ from weekly rates - see below.
Our weekends run Friday to Monday and midweek stays run Monday to Friday.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: All four Cartshed Cottages have recently been renovated with new plumbing and central heating, and brand new quality beds, mattresses and 200 thread count bed-linens. All offer Freeview TV, DVD player, iPod/iPhone docks, digital radio and wifi. Towels and linens are provided. Sorry but our cottages are not really geared up for young kids, but children aged 10 or over are very welcome. We also love dogs, and have one ourselves, so well-behaved and clean canine friends are considered for Sky, at an extra £30/stay (1 dog/stay): please call to discuss. Note the garden is not dog-secure. All cottages are non-smoking. There is shared access to washing machine, ironing facilities and extra fridge/freezer space. The cottages are designed for couples or groups of four, but can also work for larger bookings of more than one cottage. Outside: The Cartshed Cottages are situated in the grounds of a Jacobean manor house, Sharrington Hall. All cottages have their own terraces to the front, with table and chairs, giving onto a shared garden. The garden has mature roses and lavender, with laylandii and cherry blossom trees opposite the cottages. Views to the front of the cottages are across the garden onto open fields, views to the back are of the Hall and west barn. Shell Cottage also looks onto the Hall green. There is off-road parking.
