Sky Cottage Sleeps 4 (2 Bedrooms)

A spacious 2-bedroom 2-bathroom cottage, Sky’s palette is reminiscent of the far-flung horizons of the North Norfolk countryside. Palest hues of blue, lavender and silver grey echo the vast skies and the presence of the coastline just a few miles away.

A large living area boasts a contemporary L-shaped sofa and log burning stove in large open fireplace. The kitchen is painted coastal blue and offers a rustic table with elm bench and chairs seating four.

Upstairs are the two bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms: one with kingsize bed and a huge walk-in shower with light pebble tiles, oversized console basin and a separate WC; the other with a superking/twin bed opening into our most generous bathroom, with cast iron roll top bath, WC, oversized console basin and pretty dressing table.

Sky is a great base for a beach walk at Holkham followed by a warming lunch at the Hoste Arms in Burnham Market.

About the property

Cartshed Cottages at Sharrington Hall are both stylish and comfortable. A mix of vintage and contemporary furniture, oak floors, natural materials and Farrow & Ball colour palette create a relaxed mood befitting of the local North Norfolk environment. Each cottage is inspired by something that for us, exudes the essence of North Norfolk – Seal, Salt, Samphire, Sky and Shell. The interior of each cottage evokes its name through the colour palette with which it is designed. Winner, Best UK Rental, i-escape Guest Awards 2013.

Notes on accommodation: All Cartshed Cottages have recently been renovated with new plumbing and central heating, and brand new quality beds, mattresses and 200 thread count bed-linens. All offer FreeSat TV, DVD player, iPod/iPhone docks, digital radio, wifi. Towels and linens provided. Sorry, our cottages are not geared up for infants or young kids, but children aged 10 or over are very welcome. We also love dogs, and have one ourselves, so well-behaved and clean canine friends are considered for Sky (small dogs for Shell), at an extra £30/stay (1 dog/stay). Note the garden is not dog-secure. All cottages are non-smoking/non-vaping. There is shared access to washing machine, ironing facilities and extra fridge/freezer space. The 2-bed cottages work well for groups of 3/4 or couples and carry couple rates. Outside: The Cartshed Cottages are situated in the grounds of a Jacobean manor house, Sharrington Hall. All cottages have their own terraces to the front, with table and chairs, which gives onto a shared garden. The garden has mature roses and lavender, with laylandii and cherry blossoms opposite the cottages. Salt is slightly separate with private terrace with views of the Hall. Views to the front are across the garden onto open fields, the back are of the Hall and west barn. Salt views are the Hall and green. There is off-road parking.

Wonderful cottage in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely, relaxing break in a beautifully appointed cottage. The quality of the furnishings, and particularly the bed linen, all helped to make the holiday special.

Steve and Katie, the owners, were helpful and attentive, and treated us with care and kindness - thank you.

With such perfect accommodation, and so much to see and do in the local area, we will definitely be returning soon.

Thank you.

Sky's the limit - a super two weeks spent here

  • 5 of 5

We had a super and very restful couple of weeks staying in Sky Cottage at Cartshed Cottages. The cottage is one of three converted cottages 'in a row' with one more soon to come on tap, and in the grounds of the beautiful main house - Sharrington Hall. The cottage is contemporary in feel and simply designed - and it is designed, not merely decorated - and well stocked with everything you need, including some great little touches to make you feel especially welcome and at home. We particularly wanted to stay here because the cottage permits dogs and our labrador was made to feel just as welcome as we were. There is much to explore in the area, especially if interested in walking and letting the pooch go mad on the many beaches hereabouts, and also some very reasonable gastro pubs and dining, although you would struggle to take advantage of all that's on offer without a car. Our hosts Steve & Katie struck that difficult balance between being on hand and available whenever needed while never encroaching or making one feel like the place was anything but our own place during our stay. Thanks both for making us feel so at ease and welcome.
