This stunning house in it's peaceful country setting is the ideal place to unwind and relax and wish you lived here too! The lack of traffic on the wonderful country roads and the green lanes which link them made the region a delight for cyclists and walkers. Colourful vibrant markets are available in a different local town every day, including Castillonnes (2kms) on Tuesdays, which also offers a selection of restaurants, banks, supermarkets, a cinema, tennis courts and a new outdoor swimming pool. Venture farther afield and find medieval towns, beautiful rivers, vineyards, chateaux and grotto's.

About Alison Coad

My mother and I bought this lovely house in 2009 after living in Brittany for 2 years and we decided we loved France but wanted the sunnier climate of the south. We fell in love with this house and spent the first year renovating it and started doing chambre d'hote (b&b) now we still do chambre d'hote in the off seasons and let the house as a gite in the summer. We think we have cracked it!-we live in a wonderful place and are able to share it with others.

We have holidayed in various parts of France over the years and found this area to have the best of everything-good climate,very friendly people,wonderful diverse countryside and of course fantastic food and wine.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

We are very lucky here to have the peace and quiet of the countyside and have a thriving market town only 2kms (20 min walk) away with all day to day needs and a multitude of other lovely interesting towns and villages surrounding us. We are also lucky in that the main N21 route is only the other side of Castillonnes out of sight and sound but very accesible so for instance Bergerac with it's airport and stunning river setting are only an easy 20-25 min drive.

Notes on accommodation: Electricity, bottled gas and water are included in the price as are bed linen and towels. Well behaved pets are accepted by arrangement. Outside: Outside there is a large table grouping to sit 14 people under a generous pagodal, further seating and tables by the pool (33'longx18'widex4'deep) and chairs and loungers to place where you like in the grounds. You can play table tennis, boules, swing ball or croquet or just relax with a book and a drink in the sun if you prefer. There is a large barbecue if you feel like alfresco cooking and plenty of parking. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are provided and changed weekly. Other: The dining room has a large table and has crockery, glassware and cutlery for 16. This is a large light double aspect room with the kitchen at one end and is a wonderful room for entertaining and family gatherings.

Just spent 10 days here it was great all we could have asked for.

With ten of us there was more than enough room,each room has its own bathroom.

The owners were very helpful and knew all about the local area.

The house was tidy and had all the mod cons.

There is a lovely lakeside beach only 7kms away with all facilities including pedalos and safe swimming.


Bergerac Airport is 24kms(20mins) north of us and car hire is available there.


Castillonnes is 2kms, Isseagac(A medieval town with a wonderful Sunday market) is 8 kms, Villereal is 12 kms, Bergerac is 25 kms, The beautiful chateau Monbazillac is 15 kms, Chateau Biron is 20kms, Villeneuve-sur-Lot is 32 kms, grotto's and Neanderthyal cave dwellings are an hour and a half and Bordeaux is 2 hours. The world famous vineyards and town of St Emilion are an hour and half.

Further Details:

This unique area of France in the Lot and Garonne on the edge of the Dordogne provides beautiful varied countryside from vineyards and nut and plum orchards to steeply wooded hillsides with amazing medieval villages perched on them and rivers meandering below. There is a marvellous selection of restaurants to suit all tastes with the emphasis on good local produce and delicious wines. The nearby lake is a great favourite with locals and tourists alike for a day in the sun and a swim. Other activities include kyaking on many of the rivers, fishing, horse riding, golf, hot air ballooning, karting, cycling, walking and tennis. The Traditional markets are always popular and in the high season the evening markets make a great night out. You can wine taste at alot of the vineyards round about and of course the big chateaux. The climate here is excellent with an early spring(often 25°in march) a long warm summer(in the 30°'s) and gentle autumn(we are still eating outside in October). Possibly because of the climate the lifestyle is very relaxed and everyone is friendly and helpful.

Initial inquiries should be by email or telephone direct with the owner, booking form and booking conditions will then be sent to you. A returned, signed booking form with a 25% deposit confirms your booking. The balance to be paid in full 6 weeks before your stay with us. As is usual with holiday rentals of this quality and size, we require a security/breakages deposit of £250 to be paid before your arrival.

Changeover Day:
Normally the changeover day is saturday and we ask the the house to be vacated by 10.30 am Friday and ask that clients do not arrive until 4.30 pm or later to allow proper cleaning etc.
