Gary and Sue lived a very hectic lifestyle in West Yorkshire with Sue running a riding school and Gary travelling the world with work, they decided to move to the peaceful location of Helton 10 years ago as it was a place that they fell in love with very quickly, as most people do.
Having travelled through the unique village for many years visiting Lowther Park, Gary and Sue finally bought a house in the village of Helton 8 years ago and have never looked back. Having fully embraced the wealth of activities; walking, riding, fishing and socialising they decided to transform Talbot House and Studio into self catering holiday cottages and have spent the last 4 years upgrading them for the comfort and enjoyment of their guests.
With the convenience of the properties and the warmth of the surrounding villagers, this place is hard not to love. Do as we did and come for a visit, you will never want to leave!
'Beautiful location, very welcoming with everything you could wish for.'
'A perfect place for a weekends stay. Beautiful views, comfortable bed and wine to welcome us. What more could you want?'
A much needed, stressless break which was a long time coming. It was a fantastic base to shoot off to the Lakes, our dogs have never been so tired. You made us welcome and we felt so comfy that we will recommend you to all our friends and family.

Cottage is beautiful, in a lovely quiet little village, had everything you need(washer dryer towels kitchen utensils..loved the fact we could take our dog with us and the best bit was the log fire : very cosy... a little place of heaven.. love it!
Our stay at Tablot House couldn't have being better! The location was good and we found the cottage very nice and quiet! Our two boys enjoyed the place and the walks around!! Highlighly recommended for families with little ones!
My daughter and I stayed here with our 2 Golden Retrievers for a week. We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is spacious, spotless and has everything you need. I really appreciated the bottles of water and glass in each bedroom and the fresh flowers in the living room were a lovely touch. There are good pubs within walking distance which serve very good food and a lot of the tourist towns are only a short drive away. Would definitely recommend Talbot House.
Family of 5 plus dog. We had a lovely holiday. The cottage was very clean and tidy, with fresh flowers and a bottle of wine on arrival. All the facilities you would need on a holiday and everything straight forward to use. Pretty village location and about further 20 minute walk to Askham to great pub (Punchbowl) served very good food at reasonable price. Shop and gallery there too. Highly recommend.
Talbot House was a perfectly adequate holiday let and met all our needs. We had two dogs with us, and they really enjoyed the location. The walk to Pooley bridge straight from the cottage is a real pleasure for dog walkers. The pub is a good walk away and not particularly safe on the road but an alternative route via the fields was lovely. The pub was welcoming and food was ok.
The house itself was spotlessly clean - the real fire a must in February! The fixtures and fittings typical of a holiday let (kitchen and bathroom basic).
If i am honest i would not choose this property again as you really do need a car, it is not in a village, just in the middle of lots of houses with no shop or pub. However with the car, you can access lots of the beautiful lake district - be prepared to drive a lot!
A very warm and confortable stay, the layout of the accommodation worked really well for us, a family of 5. Very comfy beds with lovely bed linen.
Great to be able to have our dog with us.
Parking a little tricky directly outside as we have a big car and in the dark, struggled a little to pull it in tight enough.
Open fire a highlight and use of drier, washing machine would be invaluable if we stayed longer.
Little touches like providing dish washer tabs, water by bed, bottle of wine, was lovely and made it a 5 star stay for us.
Thankyou Sue, and thanks for popping round during our stay to check all was fine.
