About Alison Trafford

We fell in love with the Algarve and the friendly Portuguese people many years ago during frequent holidays there. We were lucky enough to find this lovely, rural Quinta in its unspoilt area and bought it in 1997.

Although it is quiet and idyllic, it is so close to the wonderful beaches and all the amenities that our holidays never seem long enough. We hope you will feel similarly; it is a home and not just a basic rental space.

We hope you have a holiday to remember, not just for sun, sea, sand and seclusion but for a spacious and stylish stay in our Quinta with the individual time we all need to unwind.

If you would like to view more photos and information about the Quinta and this area of Portugal please visit our own website.

Absolutely Stunning.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic 10 day stay recently at this villa, what a fabulous property.

The pool was a hit with our two children as was the resident cat!

The villa is very well equipped having everything you need for a comfortable stay, from lilos to cool boxes. The welcome pack that was left had all you needed to get you started on your holiday.

Very peaceful surroundings with a massive garden and superb outdoor seating area which looks out to a beautiful view.

Despite the rural location we were still within a 20 minute drive to the coast giving us access to some fantastic beaches and coastal resort towns. There are plenty of supermarkets/shopping centres and Silves is a very well serviced town.

The villa was attended by a maid who keeps the place very clean and tidy, and the pool was cleaned regularly.

Communication with the owner/property manager was spot on.

Well worth a stay!

highly recommended - very rural, quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful. We had a fabulous week here.

The kids loved the pool.

The house is full of lovely furniture & has plenty of space.

A huge well equipped kitchen, large fridge & pantry area.

Outdoor patio/BBQ area and pool, lots of outdoor space to explore.

It is remote, quiet, rural and peaceful (until the boys got in the pool!).

The villa was exceptionally clean & they left a good welcome pack for us.

It has electric shutters for security, great too for black out.

No air con, but the fans were fine for us.

We would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind not being on the coast.

Silves, a 15 minute drive away, is a lovely old town and we had some of the best meals we've had in Portugal there.

Things to note - there is a €20/25 housekeeping tip to be left for the maid.

There is a resident cat (which our boys loved to feed and watch), it doesn't go in to the villa but it does like to sleep on the patio.

The owners/caretakers were all very helpful and we had no problems at all during our stay, we hope to go back one day.

We enjoyed so much our stay in this wonderful villa. Everything was perfect: the bathrooms, the kitchen, the equipment, etc. And what a tasteful furniture...

The children had so much fun in the pool...

Beautiful garden too...

Just great!

Location

Coast/Beach:

The Algarve is well known for its numerous clean golden sandy beaches, the nearest to the villa being Gale/Albufeira, Armacao de Pera, Praia Grande and Castello beaches which are only a 20/25 minutes drive away.

Travel:

Faro airport is an approx 40 min drive.

Some guests choose to fly to Lisbon which is approx. 3hrs drive.

Car is essential and together with the central location of the villa, is a great asset, allowing visitors to explore the whole Algarve - the Spanish border to the east, and coastline to the west are both approx 1-1.5 hr drive from the villa.

Distances:

Silves with its historical XII Century Castle and Cathedral, several excellent restaurants, shops and good supermarkets is within a 15 mins drive.

Messines, a busy market town with some typical restaurants at a driving distance of 5 mins.

There are several restaurants within a 5 mile radius.

Further Details:

Take a boat tour from the Albufeira marina, to view dolphins & caves or the catamaran day trips, from the Vilamoura marina that includes a beach sardine BBQ & a dip in the ocean. There are water sports on Falesia beach, 25 minutes away or Vilamoura. Family fun at the water parks (Lagoa Slide & Splash), Lagos zoo with monkey islands, Guia’s Zoomarine with an opportunity to swim with dolphins are all close by. Enjoy a wine tour at Sir Cliff Richard’s vineyards & a range of shops, eateries, 9 screen cinema & Nike outlet at the Guia Algarve shopping centre. Pottery shops are in Porches & Monchique. The Moorish town, Silves, has a castle, cistern well in the archaeological museum, a cathedral, the Cruz de Portugal & lots of shops & restaurants to enjoy. Rui's restaurant is known for seafood. The English Cafe near the castle has great views or try one of the riverside restaurants. Silves is the perfect setting for the annual Medieval Festival in August with its narrow, cobbled streets, medieval market, barbecues, spit roasts, strolling musicians & jugglers to entertain you. Alte, a typical attractive Portuguese village is nearby with picnic tables, BBQ facilities, cafe & restaurant at the Fonte Grande where you can to enjoy a swim in the lovely cool waters. Purchase linen, pottery & lavender oil at the handicraft shop. The largest Algarve waterfall is outside the town. In Caldas de Monchique, famous for its warm springs, you can enjoy lunch in the quiet square under tall shady trees. There is a pleasant walk in the forest along a stream. En route to Caldas de Monchique enjoy views on a clear day of the Algarve coast from the highest mountain, Foia, peak (902m) in Serra de Monchique.
