Beautifully restored country house with large gardens and a heated pool.

Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Jul-2016
Luxurious and elegant family holiday home, in a peaceful and secluded location, surrounded by the rolling charentaise countryside..

This beautiful country house is set in the Charentaise countryside, close to Longeveau. It has been finished to the highest standards and delivers everything you could need for a truly relaxing and memorable holiday.

The house has recently been renovated, offering a wonderful blend of contemporary design and authentic period features.

On entering the property past the Pigeonier tower, pass though into the lounge, complete with English TV, DVD, an iPod dock and wifi. Further on, the second lounge and dining room lead into a beautiful kitchen, with granite worktop and plenty of space for preparing you holiday banquets! The house is equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and all of the utensils you will need for your holiday.

Upstairs, all of the bedrooms are spacious and light, with exposed stone walls throughout. There are two double bedrooms, one with en-suite. The third room is perfect for children, with 3 x single beds. A large family bathroom with separate shower and bath, plus a small chill out area, complete the upstairs.

The garden terrace stretches the length of the house, stepping down to a small garden adjoining the heated pool. An outside dining area and plenty of sun loungers will ensure you make the most of the long summer days. And thoughtful illumination of the terrace and pool will ensure you can enjoy it well into the night! Two larger garden areas offer plenty of space to play in (with fencing to stop the little ones escaping!)

Chez Grelon is located near the hamlet of Le Cuq, 2.5kms walk from Longeveau. This route is only recommended by car if you have a 4x4. Or a tractor! For those who already know Longeveau… go though the hamlet, and take the track down to the stream and the tumbled down old house, then up the other side, towards St. Severin. Alternatively, you can take the proper road, which is about 5kms

• Road route (5km), approx. 6 minutes.

• 4x4 route (2.5km), approx. 5 minutes.

• Cycling adults (bikes available to hire), approx. 10 minutes

• Cycling with kids (bikes available to hire), approx. 25 minutes

• Walking adults, approx. 25 minutes

• Walking with kids, approx. 45 minutes

Don’t forget a torch if you are planning to walk home after dark!

Guests staying at Chez Grelon will benefit from all of the usual services and facilities offered at Longeveau. We are on hand should you require any assistance during your stay, but staying at Chez Grelon offers you something a little more secluded. A helping of glamour, with plenty of peace and tranquility!

"Just spent a truly special week at Chez Grelon. What a wonderful house! Spacious, beautifully designed and decorated in a style that is both sympathetic to the archetypal rolling countryside of the Dordogne and lovely rural setting, but also contemporary and modern for stylish, clean living"

"We stayed in the private house called chez grelon. We had an amazing time so peaceful a little part of gods country. The house was absolutely stunning really home from home had every thing you would possibly need and more.”

"I've stayed at properties throughout Europe run by the very best villa companies such as CV Travel and James Villas but this is the best property I've ever found. We'll return in a heartbeat."

Chez Grelon is located close the Charente / Dordogne border in a beautiful valley in rural South West France. Nearby villages are full of activity, with places to visit, dine and drink. The picturesque Roman town of Aubeterre, voted one of the prettiest villages in France, is only a bike ride away. Discover the 12th century subterranean church carved out of the rock or enjoy a drink on the village square with it’s variety of shops, eateries and museums, all overlooked by a 1,000 year old chateau. Or walk down to the river beach for a swim, relax or a light bite to eat.

The market town of Riberac (20 mins) has one of the biggest markets in France. The capital towns of Angouleme and Perigueux (both 45 mins) offer a wider and more sophisticated range of shops in a typically French setting. Brantome, nicknamed the ‘Venice of Perigord’ is well worth a visit at a similar distance. The region is a paradise for wine lovers who may wish to visit the numerous chateaux and wine caves on the Bordeaux wine trail, with St. Emilion, Bergerac and Cognac also on our doorstep.

Local activities range from walking, sight seeing, tree climbing, canoeing, cycling, fishing, jet–skiing and quad biking to name but a few. Wine tasting and degustation are of course a staple part of the French experience! There are lots of local festivals, fetes and firework displays throughout the summer.

Children will find plenty to occupy themselves and their families with local activities including crazy golf, horse riding and tree top adventure’s, plus river and lake beaches, play areas an wet day activities too. The beautiful beaches on the west coast are worth a day trip, as are the popular attractions of Aqualand Water Park, La Palmyre Zoo and Futuroscope.

South West France is known for it’s great climate, with sun drenched summers, rolling green hills and valleys, plus all the history you could ever need. The food and drink is superb and the people are welcoming. We’ll always have somebody on hand to help you decide what to do..
