Newly refurbished to the highest standards since we bought the property in Jan 2012. Two very comfortable, spacious, well-equipped and completely separate holiday apartments in quiet seaside location with great beaches and wonderful views of the sea and mountains . "The Snug" is located off the Main Street in Dunkineely, beside shop and 4 nice pubs ( some with entertainment) and is just 10 minutes drive to Donegal town. The location is ideal for exploring Donegal - whatever you fancy. Choices include great walking routes, several sandy beaches, several golf courses, water sports, fishing, island trips, music & dance. You could plan day trips from here to the Cliffs at Sliabh League, Glenveagh National Park, Bundoran Water World, The Giants Causeway. For those who like to cook for themselves the kitchen has everything you would need, or if you prefer to dine out there are many good restaurants to choose from. The place is ideal for pets, with wooden floors / tiles and a huge enclosed garden.
We are a family of 4, living on a working farm in Sligo.
We have been happily involved in the Self Catering business since 2006 with our very popular Beach House in Aughris. In 2012 we bought and renovated another property The Snug in Dunkineely, South Donegal, for our own use and also as a Holiday Let.
Both properties are in wonderful locations on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Sheila McDermott purchased this apartment in 2011
We bought this property in November 2011 because we love the area and believe that Dunkineely is a wonderful scenic location with so many options on the doorstep.
We were particularly keen on the property after being lucky enough to get a window seat when we had lunch in nearby Castle Murray on the first day we went to view it. We chanced on the place whilst driving around and couldn't believe our luck. Between the view across McSwynes Bay and the wonderful food we were smitten!
One particular treat for us is being able to walk to a choice of 4 decent pubs, some with regular entertainment. There is a great atmosphere in the pubs in the village and everybody is just so friendly. As one of our guests reported last year, "they get to know you first!"
The house is in a super location, it feels quiet and secluded yet is just tucked in snugly off the main street.
We have done a big renovation on the house, with two completely separate units ( upstairs or downstairs), each equally comfortable.
We have a little Yorkshire Terrier and he loves our outings to The Snug because we can close the gate and let him roam freely in the garden.
Sheila, this is Some Gem you have here. Beautfiul. We love it. Morris family, Tipperary. Stayed in the 2-bed unit. July 2012.
"Had a fantastic time. We found the house very comfortable and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The views from the back of the house are fantastic and the children loved playing in the large garden. We would highly recommend The Snug and look forward to returning soon". Seymour family Belfast. 2-bed unit. July 2012
Everything we could want was in the house and it was clean, tidy, cosy and very quiet. The little extras were nice like the boardgames, the flowers and a very well equip kitchen. The garden is a hugh bonus for the kids and very safe as well. One great find was the Magherea caves and beach near Ardara - we could have spent forever there. Murray family Westmeath. 2bed unit .July 2012.
The Snug is a real gem. I felt very at home during my fantastic stay there. I look forward to visiting in the near future. Best wishes Veronica Westmeath 2bed unit March 2012.

There is an option to do a 2 centre holiday between our property at Aughris, Sligo ( IR340 ) and this property. The distance between the two properties is 90 minutes, it is a good opportunity to explore 2 fantastic coastal locations. Contact us with requirements.
Great cosy spot to explore the beautiful coast and local cliffs. Lovely sea views from the rooms. Would definitely recommend!
Easy to find with good parking space , and just a few steps from the first of 4 pubs in a row and with great take-away just 30 yards the other way. The Mace convenience store is just at hand as is the local butcher. A different beach for each day of your stay with our favourite being Fintra a couple of km past Killybeggs. Some good restaurants like Castle Murray and the wonderful view, food and service( try Sunday lunch or the seafood lunch) and Kitty Kellys specialising in seafood, beautifully cooked and served with some of the nicest smiles you will ever see. Go to Ardara and call in to Nancys for a tasty lunch and then on to Maghera beach past the waterfall.
And the kitchen in the snug is well able to provide any type of meal, with most of the equipment you could ever need.
Our stay was completed when the local accordion band paraded past on their charity march from Donegal town. Complete with exuberant marching girls they were brilliant. This memory will last.
We stayed for two nights in the Snug, and we really enjoyed the apartment - the views are fantastic, and the location is great for visiting anywhere between Donegal town and the Slieve League cliffs. The apartment itself is a lovely spot, very clean and has everything you need. If staying here, you should definitely visit the Slieve League cliffs, Killybegs, and explore the many beaches in the area.
We had a great time, on our trip. Lovely house to stay in. friendly people about the town. Would stay again
The property is located in a pretty little town, set back from the main road and in a secure location. Everything you could need to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable is available both in the town and in the apartment. It is in a great location for touring around scenic Donegal. The owners have thought of everything and clearly wish their tenants to have a good holiday. I would recommend the Snug highly.
The property is well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owner went out of her way to ensure that our every need was catered for. There is a well stocked shop within 50yds and a cafe in the village. The surrounding area has plenty to offer. We would be very happy to return
