About mrs velvet phillips

Hi we are Kevin and Velvet, we have made The Little Barn as comfortable and cosy as possible for your enjoyment. We hope you will love this area as much as we do. We are on hand if you need to contact us for anything we live in the cottage adjacent to The Little Barn, however we make a point of leaving you to enjoy your holiday in peace and with privacy, and have designated the front gardens and private patio area just for you whilst you are staying.

mrs velvet phillips purchased this cottage in 2010

Why mrs velvet phillips chose Wiltshire

We bought this property in West Kington as it is a beautiful area to live ,very tranquil, but with ease of access to so many other areas of interest, and remote enough from the madding crowds.

What makes this cottage unique

Whilst staying at The Little Barn you will have the convenience of staying in a lovely rural setting whilst being only a stones throw away from many visitor attractions, other villages/towns of interest. The Little Barn is a listed property, and sits adjacent to our home: originally a Beaufort estate cottage, which is an Historical grade two listed Thatched Cottage dating back to the 1500's.

There are signed walks throughout the pretty village and beyond.

We hope you will feel like you are part of the family, and aim to make you feel relaxed and comfortable at all times. You have parking directly outside the little barn for ease of unpacking etc.

Klein schattig en sfeervol ingericht huis ( voormalige geitenstal verbouwd tot cottage)

Zeer Klein karaktervol dorpje

In een prachtige omgeving

Heel vriendelijk welkom: wijn en koekjes stonden klaar

Aan alles was gedacht, zelfs vloerlampje in de slaapkamer

A warm welcome

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a quiet and very restful weekend at the barn and particularly enjoyed sitting in the pretty garden with a cup of tea and walking in pleasant, tranquil countryside from our door. The property met all our expectations from the listing and far exceeded them with all the little extra thoughtful touches from a bottle of wine, biscuits, a pint of milk to strawberries and local ice cream. We especially appreciated the cupboard full of coffee, teas and hot chocolate as we have never encountered this amount of choice in a holiday rental before! We visited the local Saluation Inn for a pleasant evening meal and beautiful Castle Combe as well as Chalfield Manor in the summer sunshine. A memorable weekend. indeed.

We had an absolutely lovely time here on holiday! Highly recommend this property!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Velvet for being such a wonderful host! I would highly recommend this property. Every detail in the little cottage was thought of and we felt most welcome. Velvet even welcomed us with local ice cream and shortcakes, as well as wine and milk stocked in the fridge. The kitchen was equipped for cooking with pots and pans, the cottage was clean and complete with all things needed. We loved walking in the beautiful countryside and sitting in the garden at the cottage. If we are ever back in the area, we would love to stay here again. Velvet went far above and beyond as a host and we could not have enjoyed our stay more! Thank you Velvet!

Lovely cottage, great location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Little Barn for three nights and had a great, relaxing and peaceful break. There were only two of us but the barn would fit four people comfortably with a double bedroom at one end and the lounge with a drop down double bed at the other end. The barn is done out to a really high standard, has comfortable furniture and has everything you need. It was immaculately clean and even a few treats, a bottle of wine and the fire burner were waiting for us on arrival! Velvet and Kevin (the owners) are a lovely couple and were very welcoming and gave us plenty of tips as to where to visit. Whilst their cottage is on the same site it is completely separate and the front garden area was designated for our use. We felt we had more than enough privacy. They could not have been more accommodating and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for a holiday. Location wise - it was our first visit to the area and we were spoilt for choice as to where to visit. Handy for Bath and Bristol and a number of walks and small local villages are on the doorstep. We were warned about low phone signal but not a problem as the barn has wifi throughout which should be all you need. The barn, the garden and the immediate area are beautiful, pictures don't do it justice. We really didn't want to leave and will definitely look to visit again. Thanks!
