The new kitchen conveniently leads through to the dining room which, with a large wood burner, has all you need for great dinners and memorable moments. Set in the heart of Monkton Wyld, you are in the country, but four miles from the sea. Our Farmhouse is 2.9 miles drive from River Cottage HQ Park Farm and 3.2 miles drive from The River Cottage Canteen and local produce store which is located in the centre of Axminster, at Trinity Square. It’s a superb place where you can taste and buy the best West Country produce. A short drive away is the wonderful beach towns of Lyme Regis and Charmouth which are famous for its fossils, wonderful shops and beautiful walks.

We had a most wonderful stay at Monkton Wyld. Perfect location and the house was more like a home than a holiday let. So nicely furnished and the best equipped kitchen I have ever stayed in. The surrounding area had sandy beaches and lovely countryside.

When we arrived at the house we all felt instantly at home the feeling as you walk in was one of total ease. Everything was very clean and tidy, the house provided us with everything we needed from the excellent well stocked kitchen, to the soft and comfortable beds. The owners have provided a home from home experience. We made use of the log fire which added to the warm welcoming feeling of the house. Where the house is situated is so quite and peaceful and very relaxing, I've not felt that relaxed on holiday in a long time. The bedrooms are a wonderful size and the beds very comfortable, the master bedroom with en-suite was amazing, such a comfortable bed and with fantastic view, from the window across the countryside. I would highly recommend this holiday let to anyone at any time of year as you will truly feel at home, and very welcomed.

Location

Our 120 acre farm is now farmed by our neighbour. He puts most of his young cattle on the surrounding fields and Legend (our daughters old pony) still grazes the paddocks adjoining the drive. We consider we know every inch of the local woods, heathland and cliff top walks and a sound knowledge built up over many years of local hostelries. Lyme Regis and Charmouth are both only 3 miles away, the former is a bustling seaside town, which fortunately escaped the building ravages of earlier decades, and Charmouth beach is one of the best in this area. You can walk up Pilsdon Pen and have this ancient hilltop fort probably all to yourself, step outside the door into the beach woods or join in the bustle of Lyme R

Distances:

3 miles to Lyme Regis and the sandy beach at Charmouth. Market town of Axminster is also 3 miles with supermarkets and various shops. There are endless places of interest all within a short distance to cater for all types of family visitors and couples.

Further Details:

Advanced bookings are from Saturdays to Saturdays only. Entry time is 4.00pm but you are welcome to leave your luggage should you wish to arrive earlier and visit the local beach! You must vacate the Farm House by 10.00am on the day of departure, so that we are able to clean the property for the next guests.

Short breaks maybe available for some dates in the quieter off peak season. Please phone for availability 01297 631 131.

The accommodation is for Eight people plus two, (2 double beds, 4 single beds and double sofa bed). The lounge has a 40" flat screen TV and has lots of books and board games for children. We regret that no Pets are allowed in the Farm House.

The Farm House is beautifully furnished and equipped. A housekeeping deposit will be held against any breakages, damage, excessive cleaning etc and is held on separate credit card details which are taken on arrival when collection the key.

All linen, towels, heating and hot water is included. Beach towels may be borrowed.

There are two wood burners. A large box of wood is provided on arrival. Extra wood is available at £6.00 per bag. Log baskets are by each wood burner.

A 50% deposit must be made on booking, with the remainder of the balance payable four (4) weeks before the start of the holiday booking. If a booking is made less than 4 weeks before the start of the holiday please send the full rental charges at the time of booking. Bookings can be paid by cheque, bank transfer or debit card. A 3% handling charge is made for credit card transactions. In the event of cancellation, failure to arrive or early departure of a holiday then we reserve the right to retain the full cost of the holiday. We will attempt to re-let the holiday and if successful, will offer a refund for the days re-let. We recommend you take out holiday insurance.

NO FIREWORKS. Because of livestock, no fireworks or Chinese Lanterns are to be used within the grounds of the property.

We are fortunate in that we have Exeter airport only 30 minutes away and Bristol, Bournemouth and Southampton airports all about l hour by car. The Waterloo (London) railway line stops at Axminster which is only 3 miles away. If you have any queries - simply ask! We can usually answer most questions and if we don't know we will definitely know someone who does. Deer regularly graze on the front lawn in the early mornings. We have many buzzards and owls living in the nearby woods.
