This modern 3 bed 2 bathroom holiday lodge is sited on a tasteful small development within the hamlet of Soar. Situated above Soar Mill Cove it has uninterrupted views of NT land and a view to the sea. Soar Mill Cove is a 15-20 min walk with its un spoilt beach surrounded by Cliffs & Rock Pools. There are stunning coastal and country walks with easy access to hidden beaches and coves. Salcombe & Hope Cove are within 3 miles via cliff top walks. There is a large diversity of wild life including Buzzards, Kestrels, Gannets and the occasional Red Deer. Hope Cove, Malborough and Bantham have excellent pubs / restaurants. Salcombe is a centre for sailing, fishing, Scuba diving and shopping. From Salcombe there are foot passenger ferries across the estuary to South Sands and to Kingsbridge. South Hams also includes the towns of: Totnes, Modbury, and Dartmouth which are well worth a visit. The area also boasts 2 Heritage Steam Railways and 3 Golf Clubs.

We are a professional couple with adult children. We are happy to share our family holiday home retained for holidays and retreat with other families who will care for it as we do,sharing its facilities and splendid location.

Why Mr Philip Payne chose South Hams

We bought this property because of our love of the South Hams area. Having dived this coastline for over 20 years and visiting throughout the Spring & Summer months we understood the value of the peace and tranquillity that this location provides and with Salcombe with its attractions and hustle and bustle only 10 minutes away.

What makes this chalet unique

Our lodge has stunning views over National Trust headlands to the south and to the sea in the west and a large secluded grass area to the side.

The South West coastal path is only a short walk as is Soar Mill Cove itself. It really being the hidden treasure of the location. When the other beaches in the area are packed, Soar Mill Cove won’t be. Here you will find clean sand, brilliant for sandcastle making, safe swimming for children,rock pools and streams to explore and all in walking distance from our lodge.

Notes on accommodation: Parking directly alongside the lodge for 1 vehicle, other vehicles can be parked in visitor spaces. Wooden steps to entrance door, key safe fitted with combination lock. A high chair is available for use. Please note that although well-behaved dogs on leads are permitted on site, no dogs/pets are allowed in this property. No smoking permitted in this lodge. Outside: Outside there is raised decking, a large private grass area, patio furniture, a barbecue and allocated parking for 1 vehicle. On site there is a large grassed play field to the back of the site, with a separate play area for younger children, with a swing and slide and a set of goal posts. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen provided, bath and hand towels (not beach towels), tea towels, dishwasher/laundry tablets/washing up liquid, cleaning service/linen and towel change weekly or before/after each stay; complimentary bottle of wine.

Great holiday.

The property was great in a lovely spot. We had a great fun filled holiday. They only thing that we didn't like was when we first arrived at the mobile home, It seemed like it had been shut up for a while and smelt musty, we had to leave the windows open whenever we could. Apart from that we enjoyed it very much.

Lovely stay at Saw mill cove.

We have just come back from a lovely stay at this property at Saw mill cove which was exactly as described on the site. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the lodge and it was great to have all cleaning products supplied as this made it so much easier to keep the lodge in good condition. It was extremely well equipped with the kitchen containing everything you could possibly ever need and more! The owner was very helpful with the queries I had beforehand and always got back to me promptly.

The area around Sawmill cove is stunning and nearby Salcombe is a beautiful part of the country with a bustling atmosphere. The lodge is a little remote and you do need to drive to most places although there are some great walks from the doorstep. There is a massive choice of beaches and bays to visit, our favourite of the week being South Milton sands and it's well worth getting the passenger ferry over to East Portlemouth for lovely walks and secluded bays.

Salcombe has lots of places to eat. We enjoyed fish and chips by the harbour and our meal at The Victoria Inn was a big hit with us all.

I would definitely recommend this property and the local area to others if you like a quiet place to return to but lots of interesting things to do. The only warning I would give is that the roads are not great for cycling as they are very narrow and windy yet also quite busy with cars so we didn't get any use from our bikes that week.

A great place to stay with easy access to Salcombe

What more could you ask for in a holiday let. The lodge was clean and the kitchen is well equipped, even more so than my home. There's a really easy walk down to a beech and a slightly longer walk to hope cove which we enjoyed, especially the beer reward at the end.

It rained a few days whilst we were there but everything was good enough that we cooked a full roast dinner! Then when sunny there was nothing better than watching the sunset.

We'll be back soon.

Booking Notes:
Booking by email preferred. Money to be paid in full if booking is within 4 weeks of stay. If more than 4 weeks a 25% deposit is required with the full balance to be paid 4 weeks before arrival date. Payments made by cheque must allow 7 days to clear. A refundable (subject to no major breakages and condition) security deposit of £50 is required with the final balance.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is normally Saturday. However other days can be arranged. Check out by 10am and check-in after 4pm and before 9pm.

Notes on prices:
Cancellation of booking prior to final payment will incur a loss of deposit. Cancellation after final payment will incur a 75% deduction of the rental price.
We are happy to consider discounts for late availability bookings and discount for bookings of 2 weeks or more. Please ask when making your inquiry.
