This is a luxury fully furnished 3 bedroom 4th floor apartment, decorated to the highest standard, fully equipped and with a large L shaped balcony (catches the sun most of the day) with table, chairs and sun loungers. . Large lounge with TV, Bluray player and FREE WIFI. Full remote controlled air-conditioned cooling and heating. Windows are double glazed with electric blackout shutters (useful when resting during hottest part of the day). Located in a prime position of Olhao just a short walk to the 5* ~Real Marina hotel facilities. Take the hotel ferry or a private taxi to the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve where the islands of Armona, Culatra and Farol provide expansive uncluttered sandy beaches with quality restaurants and bars. Main ferry to islands also a short walk away. The town has a thriving fishing fleet which supports the extremely varied menus found in its many bars and restaurants. There is also plenty of opportunity to shop in the weekly markets or search for bargains in the narrow streets of the town centre. Lots to do in and around Olhao.

We live on the edge of London and first holidayed in the Algarve in 1981 but didn't visit Eastern Algarve until 2007. We are delighted we decided to invest in this location. We enjoy all that Olhao has to offer, plenty of fresh food especially fish, lovely restaurants, cafes and bars and their relaxing atmosphere. Excellent beaches which are beautiful and relatively empty and stretch for miles. The islands are easily accessible and offer some lovely restaurants for long tranquil afternoon lunches which are something we enjoy.

Why M Chivers chose Olhão

We appreciate Olhao because of the fantastic facilities in the area. There are some beautiful beaches and the marina boasts a great range of bars and restaurants. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Faro airport less than an 20 minutes drive away. Eastern Algarve still retains the traditional Portuguese feel and charm. Eating out is very reasonably priced and represents excellent value for money for a good night out. The locals are very friendly and welcoming. The beaches on the islands make a refreshing change from over-crowded beaches elsewhere. On the doorstep is the countryside which is mountainous and beautiful and offering many excellent restaurants etc.

What makes this apartment unique

Olhao and Marina Village in particular is a very convenient location, close to the airport which makes short trips to Portugal very attractive, proximity to the 5* spa hotel for treatments etc. is another bonus.

Sorry, no pets or smoking permitted in the apartment. WI-FI PROVIDED FREE. Outside: Large balcony (wrap-around on two sides for all day sun) with table and chairs for 6 plus 2 sun loungers and parasols and with views of the Ria Formosa. BBQ. Lots of room, relaxing and in a good spot. Unlike the rather spartan apartments you can book through the hotel, Mary's apartment provides sun beds, beach kit and everything you need to cook, including a barbecue. Maria gave us a warm and helpful welcome. We were really comfortable and had a very chilled stay. Even spotted some flamingoes on the marshes from the terrace! Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent stay

Very spacious, well appointed apartment. Clean and very comfortable, great view over to the Formosa. Within walking distances for restaurants, with the addition of a small shop near the apartment for water etc.

A very clean, modern and well maintained property; spacious and comfortable for our family of 5! Situated well with a short walk along the water front to many restaurants and cafes in Olhao. We had a most enjoyable stay which we hope to repeat in the near future.

Having stayed in the Marina Village for the last 4 years I can say that this is the best apartment we have come across .Sun all day ,amazing views ,everything you could possibly need for a fantastic holiday is within the apartment .Roof Top swimming pool also .The owner is a pleasure to deal with andcredponded to all enquiries promptly .Met by the property manager who took her time to show us all we needed to know about the apt .Manager always at the end of the phone if needed .We had an amazing Christmas and 2 month stay .Dont hesitate to book this you won’t be disappointed .

Another great stay

Having first visited in May, I was very keen to get back to Mary’s apartment for a last blast of Autumn sunshine. The favourable rate we received for booking via Mary meant we were able to stretch the holiday to two full weeks.

I again found the apartment spotlessly clean and tidy, and Maria was there to greet us upon arrival. Bedding and towelling were changed mid-way through our stay at the same time as the whole apartment being cleaned throughout.

Since May the rooftop area has been refurbished, and, unless I’m misremembering, a couple more appliances have appeared in the kitchen (including a Dolce Gusto machine).

It is easy to have a very reasonably-priced trip given the abundance of fantastic, cheap restaurants in the city that help to make Olhão such a good-value destination. I am therefore delighted to have found such well-appointed accommodation I can feel so comfortable in within my usual budget.

I wish I was back there now, and I certainly hope it isn’t too long until I’m requesting to book this apartment again!

A beautiful large modern apartment

We had a wonderful short break at this apartment. It was very spacious with all the facilities you could wish for Very clean and modern design . Very close to lovely restaurants and bars and the ferry to some beautiful islands with amazing beaches! Armona was paradise!!! Many apartments not occupied so the pool is really private. We never saw another swimmer! Booking the apartment and communication with Mary was also really easy. A lovely holiday was had by all! Thanks Mary 😀😀

Zoomarine Algarve

The apartment overlooks the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and the sea. The bird life on view is amazing.


The unspoilt, white sandy beaches and clear waters of the offshore sandpit islands of Ilha da Armona and Ilha da Culatra are easily reached by ferries that run from the quayside to the eastern end of Olhao's waterfront. Ihla da Armona is the closest to Olhao and has a few restaurants and holiday chalets. Ihla do Farol, where the lighthouse is, at the western end of Culatra, also has a beautiful sandy beach and a few cafes and a restaurant. All of the beaches hold the EEC blue flag.


Faro Airport is 8 km away, approximately a 15-minute drive. Trains and buses run between Faro and Olhao. Olhao bus and train stations are both within walking distance of the apartment. Car hire is not essential as the apartment is so conveniently located for all amenities, including the ferries to the offshore islands. If car hire is required recommendations can be provided. Recommendations for airport transfers/local taxi service for trips during stay are available.


Olhao village with markets, shops, restaurants and bars, ferry, bus and train station is 10 minutes walk away. The marina is on the doorstep and offers fishing and cruising trips.

The lovely city of Tavira is only 8km away and Faro is 9 kms away and has a large shopping centre and a large sandy beach with cafe bars.

50 kms to the Spanish border which makes for an interesting day out. 30-40km to the more traditional resorts of the western Algarve.

Further Details:

Olhao is a traditional Portuguese fishing town, full of character with its Moorish-style houses and winding, cobbled back streets. In the heart of the historic town there are graceful buildings with wrought iron balconies, carved stonework & decorative tiled exteriors. At the centre of the town is the church of Nossa Senhora do Rosario, built in 1698 with contributions from the fishermen. It is elegant with a baroque facade. Olhao is well known for its fish market; there are two market buildings on the waterfront with a vast and diverse choice of fresh fish and seafood, locally grown fruit and vegetables. These market halls are surrounded by pavement cafes where you can enjoy the view of the sea and the boats moored along the waterfront & the ambience of the area. Olhao is surrounded by 'ilhas' sand spit islands, which protect the marshy lagoon, but Olhao also boasts many beautiful beaches reached by ferry or private boat. The Reserva Natural da Ria Formosa is an environmental and conservation area for birds and marine life and encompasses 60 km of coast between Ancao and Manta Rota. It is a vital area for birds, especially waterfowl, and the park was included in the list of wetlands of worldwide interest defined by the Ramsar Convention. One can observe the wildlife from hides dotted around the Natural Park and there is also the opportunity to see the rare Algarvian Water Dogs on the Reserve. Boat trips are run around the Ria Formosa, or boats can be hired. Olhao Seafood Festival takes place in August (around the 2nd week). It's one of the biggest gastronomy festivals in the Algarve with plenty of delicious seafood & live entertainment every night. Apart from the daily fresh markets in Olhao there are plenty of other markets to visit in the surrounding areas, including Fuzeta, Montcarapacho and Quelfes. Bicycles and quad bikes are available for hire plus guided tours. Zip line adventures, guided walking tours, big game fishing, museums and water parks are nearby.
