The cottages are situated in a beautiful unspoilt medieval Cotswold Farm complete with many of its original buildings including a Dovecote. They have been recently converted from cart sheds to the highest specification & include some of the original exposed beams, oak flooring to the first floors and wood burning stoves in the living area. This enchanting Farm has hardly changed in 400 years. Set in the Heart of the beautiful Cotswold Village of Nympsfield, the cottages are within a 2 minute walk of the Rose & Crown, a short walk to Coaley Peak escarpment View Point, this point gives spectacular views over the Berkeley Vale across the River Severn to the Forest of Dean and the Brecon Beacons beyond.
Born and bred in the Cotswolds, Anne at Tetbury and myself at Woodchester we both love this area and we know that Nympsfield is a truly unspoilt and undiscovered gem with a church, a pub and a real old world village atmosphere.
Set in a real quiet village with very little traffic and within walking distance or short driving distance of many interesting, beautiful and stimulating places to visit.
The welcome to Bay Tree Farm was so warm and friendly.. especially the chickens that came up to the glass front to have a good look at us!! The accommodation is absolutely lovely, very comfortable and so comfortable in the evenings with the woodburner alight. I feel that we were so lucky to be the first guests to stay... we enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked to come back in June. Sandra and Sean April 2012
Although the weather wasn't very kind to me I can't say a single bad word about the cottage - it's absolutely fantastic - Katerina from Prague,Czech Republic.
Our short break started with the warmest of welcomes and we felt at home through out our stay.Tinkley Cottage is the perfect get away.Well presented & equipped. We walked from the cottage each day to some amazing places, Woodchester Park,Coaley View Point,Selsley Common taking in the Cotswold Way and other unplanned places! We can't recommend you enough,we will be back.Just Fantastic! We booked Tinkley Cottage for Christmas 2016 and were not disappointed. The courtyard had a lovely Christmas Tree and lots of pretty lights around. The cottage itself exceeded our expectations - it was bigger than it looked on the photos, spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well equipt (I had brought a few bits with us as it was over Christmas but everything I needed was already thought of) The bedrooms were really comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The shower downstairs was clean and useful being separate. The cottage was warm but it was lovely to have the woodburner on Christmas Eve . We took our dogs with us and the space under the stairs was perfect for the dog beds. Also ample storage for coats and boots. Lots of great walks nearby, fabulous views from the local longbarrow and lovely walk through the woods there too. Also the local Victorian Mansion (couple of mins drive) was well worth the visit although it wasn't open it was impressive to see and a lovely walk down to it too. We had a meal in the Rose and Crown pub just 2 mins walk away which was very nice too. All in all a great place to stay and we would happily come back again. The owners were very welcoming but not intrusive which is perfect. Also for good for us was the freezer in the cottage is a good size as I had precooked some meals to take with us and there is the use of an additional freezer too if you need it.
We loved Tinkley Cottage - clean, modern but keeping the character of the barn. Arrived after long Friday night through half term traffic to find the place already warm and welcoming.
The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful - too much to see in one short weekend so we will be coming back for a longer visit.
The owners were very friendly and helpful with advice on where to visit, so we took a walk through some amazing woods down to Woodchester Mansion. Stunning!
I would highly recommend staying here!! We staying for a week and it wasn't long enough. The cottage is fantastic, it's modern yet keeps the traditional farm feel! There is plenty to do with out having to travel far, but it's central location means it's a short drive away from many popular sites such as Bath.
My husband and our two adult daughters stayed in Nympy Cottage for 4 nights. We were very pleased with the bright, cheery cottage. The converted cart sheds were charming, very modern and comfortable. The on site owners were friendly and very helpful (we had a flat tyre), giving us good advice and directions. The little village was so quiet with only the cooing of the doves. The countryside is idyllic and beautiful. There were helpful literature and pamphlets in the cottage listing nearby walks. I appreciated having a washer and dryer available (tip: choose "Quick Wash" or you'll be waiting a long time for the other cycles!). The kitchen was well-equipped and it was very thoughtful of the Gazzards to have a jug of milk in the refrigerator upon our arrival. We highly recommend Bay Tree Farm!
Following our wonderful visit to Bay Tree Farm back in 2012, my family and I decided to return and we were not disappointed. Our visit this time coincided with the Xmas period and the Winter scenery was breathtakingly beautiful whilst out walking. Set in the heart of unspoilt rural Cotswolds, this area is certainly well worth investigating and the very helpful and friendly owners (Gazzards) are experts in the knowledge of the surrounding area. There is even a friendly pub in the village serving good food and even better local ales.
We had the same Tinkley cottage as before and again we found as clean, cosy and comfortable as before, infact, as we were arriving late, they ensured that the cottage was nice and warm for our arrival. Another return visit......most definitely!!
Tinkley Cottage was a really lovely place to spend a few relaxing days, very cosy and homely, and very well equipped and comfortable.
We visited the 'Wildfowl and Wetland Centre' in Slimbridge, not too far away, which was a wonderful day out.
From the property we also walked to Woodchester Mansion, a very lovely walk and an amazing House to visit
We had a great meal at the 'Egypt Mill Hotel' in Nailsworth, which we would highly recommend.
We would definitely recommend this property to others who want to explore beautiful Gloucestershire.
