Why Anne Gazzard chose Stroud district

Born and bred in the Cotswolds, Anne at Tetbury and myself at Woodchester we both love this area and we know that Nympsfield is a truly unspoilt and undiscovered gem with a church, a pub and a real old world village atmosphere.

What makes this barn unique

Set in a real quiet village with very little traffic and within walking distance or short driving distance of many interesting, beautiful and stimulating places to visit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The welcome to Bay Tree Farm was so warm and friendly.. especially the chickens that came up to the glass front to have a good look at us!! The accommodation is absolutely lovely, very comfortable and so comfortable in the evenings with the woodburner alight. I feel that we were so lucky to be the first guests to stay... we enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked to come back in June. Sandra and Sean April 2012

Although the weather wasn't very kind to me I can't say a single bad word about the cottage - it's absolutely fantastic - Katerina from Prague,Czech Republic.

Wonderful Stay in the Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week in Tinkley and Nympy Cottages - both were comfortable, clean and well presented - the setting was perfect with the converted Barn and the enclosed courtyard complete with free-roaming chickens! Anne and David were great hosts, very friendly and helpful, and helped make our stay very enjoyable. Nympsfield is in an ideal location to explore the local area, we will certainly be back.

Lovely cottage, very homely

  • 5 of 5

We booked Tinkley Cottage for Christmas 2016 and were not disappointed. The courtyard had a lovely Christmas Tree and lots of pretty lights around. The cottage itself exceeded our expectations - it was bigger than it looked on the photos, spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well equipt (I had brought a few bits with us as it was over Christmas but everything I needed was already thought of) The bedrooms were really comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The shower downstairs was clean and useful being separate. The cottage was warm but it was lovely to have the woodburner on Christmas Eve . We took our dogs with us and the space under the stairs was perfect for the dog beds. Also ample storage for coats and boots. Lots of great walks nearby, fabulous views from the local longbarrow and lovely walk through the woods there too. Also the local Victorian Mansion (couple of mins drive) was well worth the visit although it wasn't open it was impressive to see and a lovely walk down to it too. We had a meal in the Rose and Crown pub just 2 mins walk away which was very nice too. All in all a great place to stay and we would happily come back again. The owners were very welcoming but not intrusive which is perfect. Also for good for us was the freezer in the cottage is a good size as I had precooked some meals to take with us and there is the use of an additional freezer too if you need it.

Owner's Response: I am so pleased that you all enjoyed your stay at Christmas . It's such an important time of year to be away and I am glad that we met up to your expectations. Nympsfield is a lovely village to come to with so many walks and well placed for visiting other areas at any time of year. Thank you for your review.

Wonderful, we will be coming back

  • 5 of 5

We loved Tinkley Cottage - clean, modern but keeping the character of the barn. Arrived after long Friday night through half term traffic to find the place already warm and welcoming.

The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful - too much to see in one short weekend so we will be coming back for a longer visit.

The owners were very friendly and helpful with advice on where to visit, so we took a walk through some amazing woods down to Woodchester Mansion. Stunning!

6 stars for a 5 star week

  • 5 of 5

I would highly recommend staying here!! We staying for a week and it wasn't long enough. The cottage is fantastic, it's modern yet keeps the traditional farm feel! There is plenty to do with out having to travel far, but it's central location means it's a short drive away from many popular sites such as Bath.

A charming haven

  • 5 of 5

My husband and our two adult daughters stayed in Nympy Cottage for 4 nights. We were very pleased with the bright, cheery cottage. The converted cart sheds were charming, very modern and comfortable. The on site owners were friendly and very helpful (we had a flat tyre), giving us good advice and directions. The little village was so quiet with only the cooing of the doves. The countryside is idyllic and beautiful. There were helpful literature and pamphlets in the cottage listing nearby walks. I appreciated having a washer and dryer available (tip: choose "Quick Wash" or you'll be waiting a long time for the other cycles!). The kitchen was well-equipped and it was very thoughtful of the Gazzards to have a jug of milk in the refrigerator upon our arrival. We highly recommend Bay Tree Farm!

Another enjoyable stay!

  • 5 of 5

Following our wonderful visit to Bay Tree Farm back in 2012, my family and I decided to return and we were not disappointed. Our visit this time coincided with the Xmas period and the Winter scenery was breathtakingly beautiful whilst out walking. Set in the heart of unspoilt rural Cotswolds, this area is certainly well worth investigating and the very helpful and friendly owners (Gazzards) are experts in the knowledge of the surrounding area. There is even a friendly pub in the village serving good food and even better local ales.

We had the same Tinkley cottage as before and again we found as clean, cosy and comfortable as before, infact, as we were arriving late, they ensured that the cottage was nice and warm for our arrival. Another return visit......most definitely!!
