About Louise Armitage

We are a hard working British family who simply love France. We love the Languedoc region for the weather, the unique french holiday culture, the Mediterranean and the wine!

La Villa Nautique is only 3km form the Spanish border and has a true Catalan feel. We have our own pool and are situated all on one level. All the rooms have fantastic views of the Med or the Pyrenees Mountains. We are walking distance from the village and the sea. You can also walk to the mainline railway station for trains to Barcelona as well as local trains along the pretty french coast.

We intend to live in France one day but whilst we are still living and working in the Uk we invite you to share our little piece of french paradise. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Lovely views but noisy

  • 3 of 5

Property had amazing views and was of a high standard. However, there was some building work going on nearby which made it very noisy and spoiled the peace.

Town is pretty but quite a trek by foot if you are not young and fit!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Cerbere is a quiet village with breathtaking views. We stayed there just 2 weeks after your stay and it was really quiet. We are really very sorry there was someone building nearby during your stay, very unfortunate for you indeed., We hope you will return in the future and experience this beautiful location.

Well-appointed villa overlooking Cerbère

  • 5 of 5

The villa is accurately described on the website and was comfortably able to accommodate our family group of 8 (a mix of parents + young adults). It's well-appointed and I can't fault the facilities. Actually the pool is much larger than it might appear in the photos. The patio table also seats 8 and there are plenty of loungers for the pool. While each bedroom had a fan, there were times when we'd have benefited from air-con, perhaps in the lounge. Internet was stable & nippy - a godsend for our millennials.

Cerbère has character but you'd probably struggle without a car if you want to visit elsewhere (of course there is the train & coastal bus service). It's a stroll down to the town but a real hike back up. There's a pebbled town beach but our preference was the Sentier Sous-Marin (snorkeling area) beach which was 5 mins drive towards Banyuls. While Cerbère has a small well-stocked mini-supermarket, for the weekly shop you should use Carrefour in Banyuls (a 20 min drive). While there are three restaurants in Cerbère and more bars, for bigger nights' out I'd recommend also visiting the beachfront area in Banyuls which offers lots of choice and surprisingly was no more expensive. The coastal road from Cerbère in either direction (into Spain & Portbou or towards Perpignan) takes a bit of getting used to in a rental car: narrow and twisty but it becomes a dual-carriageway after Port-Vendres.

In summary our stay was a very positive experience and thanks to Louise who provided timely communication and was happy to answer our questions.

Lovely area of France, Very comfortable villa, well maintained, with lovely views.

  • 4 of 5

A lovely property in a lovely town, The villa is well fitted out and very practical. good access to the outside areas through two sets of French doors. Although, being located at top of the hill it was quite windy much of the time. However, this did help to keep the temperature more comfortable. The pool was a really good size and we made good use of it.

The town of Cerbere is really pretty, we had a good dinner one evening in the local hotel Dorade on the front. Would definitely recommend a visit. It also has a good outside bar, great for relaxing and having a drink when your down town. You can walk to the town from the villa, but being so high up, it is a bit of a challenge to climb back up.

The drive round the coast is a little challenging with all the bends but the scenery is stunning. And we really enjoyed a few trips to Colliure which has to be one our most favourite towns in France.

This is one of our favourite areas in France and we look forward to going back sometime in the future. Anyone wanting to visit this area should consider La Villa Nautique. It's a lovely property and location to stay at.

Wonderful Villa

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a quality villa with views to die for, super fast broadband and pool in a quiet location this is for you! After 4 days we wanted to stay for 2 weeks and I could see myself working from there..fantastic rail connections and cheap flights to Beziers make this a cracking location, not too touristy and our memories of barbecues round the pool with stay with us for a long time, highly recommended.........Martin and Jan

Amazing little French Fancy

  • 5 of 5

As first time holiday makers to France we were simply amazed with the idyllic setting and surrounding areas of this quaint french resort.

Booking was easy and the directions given to find the villa were spot on. When we arrived we found the sun shining and the swimming pool looking tempting and inviting.

There is masses of pool space and the terrace and its views are to die for - looking out over the Mediterranean Sea whilst sipping on a glass or two of wine was a perfect relaxation tonic.

Inside the villa is just as fabulous as the views, with a large kitchen and living room area that was fully equipped with all items needed for our stay. The WIFI was an added bonus as well as it meant we could catch up on family and business whilst away.

With four large bedrooms and a large shower and separate toilet as well we found the villa to be all we needed and more.

We took the journey into town via foot which was a decent stroll which gave us just enough exercise to be ravenous for food and fine wine upon arrival.

The villa is quiet at night and you can relax, entertain or BBQ until your hearts content.

We would thoroughly recommend the villa, resort, area to anyone looking for a special weekend away.

We booked a car for our duration but only ever used it to get to the quaint bakery in town when we were feeling lazy and we used the train station for expeditions up and down the coastline.

Overall we couldn't fault anything from the moment we arrived in the villa to the moment we left.

10 / 10 - can't wait for our next visit!!!!

The pool is accessible from the main open living area through a number of french windows and therefore care should be taken with young children (it is however possible to isolate the pool from the inside space). The pool is 1.8 metres deep and has a security cover and an alarm. In the Summer the sun finds the pool terrace all day and sinks behind the hills in the evening. Outside: The villa has a private pool set in a tiled terrace with alarm and compliant child pool cover. We have relaxing sun loungers, a barbecue, dining table and chairs (x8) for eating alfresco. The property is secure behind lockable gates and offers private off-road parking for several cars. Cleaning can be arranged locally if required. We don't provide towels (except tea towels) however they can be hired for £10 per person per stay.
