House With Private Pool And Grounds

Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Aug-2016
House in Labarthe, nr. Molieres and Castelnau Montratier, Tarn et Garonne, France - Secluded, Rural Location But With Shops A Few Minutes Away

Neveges is a former presbytery fully restored in traditional style with every modern amenity including air-conditioning. The heated pool is just below the house and its dining terrace, though there are bikes, boules, ping-pong and other games for the more active. The owners believe in attention to detail, be it providing a first-aid kit and proprietary medicines to score pads for games and night-lights for children. In season the property is looked after by our English manager, who lives nearby and is thus able to respond to even the least urgent request. Although the season starts earlier and finishes later in south-west France, enabling one to eat outside in the evening well into October, the house with its oil-fired central heating, log fire and sources of entertainment is a delight at any time.

‘What a house! What a spot! We’ve rented many self-catering properties around Europe and none can hold a candle to yours: for both the thoughtful attention to every detail (functional, physical and spiritual) as well as the flawless maintenance. In case you ever wonder whether your clients really notice all the care you take, you can rest assured.’

‘The attention to detail and care of the house is second to none. Absolutely 5-star !! The garden is beautiful. The layout and the variety of trees and plants and the swimming pool make up an idyllic scene in which it is impossible to do anything but relax. Eating outside is wonderful . . .'

‘Surrounded by fields of sunflowers, it was like living in a Van Gogh landscape. Beautiful. Thanks.’

Perfect winter escape

  • 5 of 5

Our family Christmas at Neveges was a never to be forgotten experience, and one we would most definitely like to repeat. We really had to pinch ourselves repeatedly when we arrived, the house is absolutely stunning, and we happily lost ourselves in its many rooms, each of which is decorated beautifully.

It really was the perfect setting for christmas, walking around the misty grounds then settling in for meals in the fantastically equipped kitchen, or getting cosy around the roaring log fire. There was so much to do inside and out, and we even had the opportunity to play croquet and table tennis on sunny days.

The owners have really thought of everything and we really hope to make it back there one day soon!

Neveges

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family, being ten of us, ranging in age from 18 months to granny and grandad, had a wonderful surprise on arriving at Neveges - the house is breathtakingly beautiful ! The owners had considered all the different age groups - masses of toys for the small children, dvds and table tennis and boulles and bicycles for the teenagers. The huge garden was a delight as was the beautiful swimming pool area where we had most of our meals. The family enjoyed the walks in the surrounding countryside. The attention to detail in everything in the house was incredible. The owners met us on arrival and departure.

Unforgettable

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at at Neveges for 2 weeks with my three mostly-grown up children during which several members of my extended family came and went.

I cannot praise Neveges more highly. Superbly furnished with everything you could ever need. Nothing is left to be desired when you stay there, except for maybe the weather and for that we had 2 weeks of sun and clear blue skies.

The area is a little harder to get to than most but that only increases the attraction as it is an unspoilt and beautiful part of France with some lovely villages and small towns.

I had plans to do all manner of things whilst we were there but did almost nothing because we had no desire at all to leave Neveges!

A lovely house, a lovely area and very pleasant owners to deal with! Could not recommend more highly.

A very special house

  • 5 of 5

We had a really wonderful holiday at Neveges, the general family consensus was that after holidays spent in five or six different villas in various different areas of France, Neveges was the pinnacle and we would all very much like to return in the near future. It is a beautiful house in a glorious location. The house was immaculate and many thoughtful extras were provided by the owners which made all the difference.

Location

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Neveges is midway between the Atlantic (Arcachon) and the Mediterranean beaches (Narbonne) but being at least 2.5 hours from either the house is not suitable for a beach holiday.

Travel:

Toulouse is 80 kms / just over an hour away. Other possible airports are Rodez or Bergerac (1.5 hours), and Bordeaux or Limoges (2 hours +). Car(s) hired or otherwise are essential. Driving from the Channel ports takes 8 to 9 hours.

Distances:

Molieres 3 kms, Castelnau Montratier 9 kms. Major tourist centres of Cahors, Montauban and Moissac are about 35 mins away.

Further Details:

This corner of Quercy where Neveges is situated, with its secret valleys, is the real ‘France profonde’ that those who have endured the traffic jams of the Dordogne or Côte d’Azur hot-spots will love. Yet the cathedral cities of Cahors and Montauban, Moissac on the banks of the Tarn, the hill-top towns like Lauzerte dating from the Hundred Years War, Montpezat, the 3-star Pech Merle and Gouffre de Padirac cave systems, Rocamadour, St Cirq Lapopie, St Antonin Noble Val (location for the film Charlotte Gray) and Bonaguil Castle can all be visited in half a day. Toulouse with its superb historic centre, Carcassonne, Sarlat, Cordes and Albi deserve full day expeditions.

Full details of an excellent local caterer, restaurants, tourist attractions, shops and services, estate agents, together with recommendations for golf, riding, canoeing, walking, tennis, fishing, the nearby leisure lake with beach and boating, shopping for foie gras or the renowned wines of Cahors and Quercy will be found at the house, together with a welcome pack of wine and armagnac.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Our winter 2014 building project, constructing a new heated pool 12m x 6m with automatic safety cover, has been magnificently completed, together with another ‘pigeonnier’ offering a seventh bedroom and bathroom as well as a loggia-like building on the dining terrace overlooking the pool. The landscaping around the pool, including a Zen and Tuscan garden (designer's words) is well established and very attractive. Outside: New private pool 12m x 6m plus steps heated to 28 deg, automatic safety cover. Plentiful sun-loungers, a teak table seating 16 and other tables and chairs for eating outside. Deckchairs and benches dotted about the grounds. Optional floodlighting. The pool surround and house approaches are newly paved, and an ‘umbrella’ mulberry shades the main terrace, with its mature shrubs, numerous pot-plants and herb garden. Ground total 3 acres. On the east side, areas of meadow grass, raised flowerbeds and lawns alongside a pond and stream lead to a further paved terrace, fountain and Quercy-style pigeonnier, where ice-cold rosé is laid on the better to enjoy the sunset. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, drying rack, sink, cupboards with spares like light bulbs. Baby accessories: child gate, high chairs, potty, cots, car seat, booster seats, child seat to fit adult bike Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, including beach towels (and hair dryers) can be loaned (£10 laundry charge per person in 2014, included from 2015). Cleaning service every Saturday, when linen can be changed if wished. Plentiful kitchen towels and cleaning materials. Other: Games room with 7-foot pool table, young children's toys, sofas, darts, board games. Covered outside area with ping-pong, table football and croquet.
