Great flat, excellent views and walks along the prom. Very convenient for shops and city centre buses. We've really enjoyed our stay.



Wonderfully close to the sea! The buses are regular and close by.

great location - well equiped

The flat is well equipped and the pictures gives you a good idea how it look like. The flat is perfect for 4 persons, especially for a family with 2 children. The flat is clean and well-maintained, especially the sitting room is large and bright. Anne, the landlady, was very friendly and helpful, also before our arrival when arranging the payment.

The flat is situated only 100meter from the promenade and sandy beach of Firth of Fourth. Our children really enjoyed the daily walks at the beach. And watching the sunset is very impressive. :-) The weather was rather scottish so we do not swim in the sea and we can not say whether the beach is crouded in summer, at our stay it was very relaxing to stay there.

The bus stop with regular connection to City Center and Edinburgh Zoo is nearby the accomodation, so exploring Edinburgh is really easy to manage from there. On the other hand it was never a problem to find a parking place for our car, which we used for travelling in the surroundings of Edinburgh (Stirling, Trossachs, Safari Park etc.)

You can find shops, restaurants and take aways nearby the accomodation. Nevertheless the kitchen is well-equipped so it is no problem to cook on your own.

We can really recommend this accomodation.

I love Edinburgh, I love being at the seaside and I also like to be able to park the car easily! That, coupled with fact that I was brought up in Portobello, made me decide it was the ideal place to buy a flat for holidays. I have memories of walking down to Portobello prom on Saturdays with my playmates and of learning to swim at Portobello pool. Sunday afternoons were when we would take a drive to Gullane or North Berwick and enjoy a Luca's ice cream (the best ice cream ever!) or fish and chips, on the way back. I look forward to taking our grandchildren to all these places in future - not that we have any yet!

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Portobello beach is 2 minute's walk away. There is a lovely sandy beach backed by a promenade. There are cafes, pubs and restaurants on the promenade.

Travel:

The nearest airport is edinburgh airport, 13 miles away. Can be reached by frequent bus service or taxi. The nearest mainline station is Edinburgh Waverley, 4 miles. Bus stop 50 yards away with frequent buses to the centre of Edinburgh, 20 minutes, and to the East Lothian coast.

Distances:

Edinburgh City Centre 4 miles. North Berwick 24 miles. Roslin Chapel 10 miles.

Further Details:

Portobello swim centre with gym, fitness studio, turkish bath, steam room and swimming pool is 5 minutes walk away.

To book, we ask for a non-refundable deposit of £50 which can be paid by cheque or bank transfer. We do not offer online booking at this time. Full payment should be made 4 weeks before arrival.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is usually Saturday but this is flexible. We ask guests to vacate the property by 10.30am. Arrival time is usually after 3pm.
