Secluded cottage surrounded by woodland and fields. Yet just 5 mins from two small towns with swimming lake sandy beach area and small bar restaurant, coffee shop local fishing, cycle routes and forest walks ideal for picnics and BBQ areas. Suitable for all ages, for those who are looking for a peaceful quiet holiday.

We have a retired horse who is happy to take little people for guided rides, or just for a walk.. Great for summer breaks or holidays also towards the end of summer blackberry picking, followed by mushroom gathering, walnut collecting, huge sweet chestnuts to gather for Christmas. Winter holidays 2 hours from Mont Dore for skiing, snowboarding etc The cottage has a wood burner for winter stays that heats the whole of the cottage also other heating if required. Perfect rural retreat in stunning area

  • 5 of 5

I can only echo previous reviews on this property. Jane was delightful, attentive to our needs without being imposing. Her dogs were family friendly and we were offered rides on her horse. Although there are plenty of places to explore, we found the local lake was more than enough for us on most days. Will definitely return!

wonderful relaxing holiday in rural France

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing two weeks in Jane's home. The house was perfect for our holiday. The house is well furnished with everything you could need, the bed was very comfortable. Jane was extremely helpful and suggested loads of things in the area. The house is dog friendly and the enclosed garden was perfect. Completely fenced in and large. Clear nights were great for star gazing. You can clearly see the Milky Way here and we had great views of the meteor shower. We fell in love with the French way of life in rural France and ended up buying our own house just down the road!!!! We would highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Never been to this area before, but the area and surrounding countryside are stunning.

The gite was compact, very warm when we had the wood burner on, with enough room for the four adults that went.

Jane, the owner, was helpful, friendly and went out of her way to find places to visit and dine out, all of them worth the visit.

She emailled on several occasions to answer our queries and found horse riding, brocantes, and other activities for us to do.

Will definately go back to visit this beautiful area and look forward to seeing Jane again.

Perfect rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at the cottage in June. It was plenty big enough for 4 adults and one small child. The owner, Jane, couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. She even provided numerous toys for my son which he loved! Her daughters were very friendly, offered babysitting services and gave us the opportunity to try horse riding.

The cottage was exactly as described on the website, clean, well laid out and well maintained. Rooms were of a good size, and there was plenty of towels, bedding, crockery etc. There is a fabulous large and enclosed garden for use, again amply provided with loungers and outdoor furniture.

The location is quiet and peaceful, in beautiful Limousin countryside. The owner lives next door, she was helpful but not obtrusive. However it would not be possible to stay here without the use of a car. The nearest town was approximately a 10 minute drive away, there's an excellent and reasonable supermarket there, and a lovely lake and beach. We did not have time to sample any of the local restaurants unfortunately.

All in all we would highly recommend this cottage.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely cottage whilst on a working holiday. It did not disappoint. It was in beautiful surroundings and extremely peaceful. The cottage itself provided everything we needed. The living room had a beautiful wood burning stove and we were provided with logs and used it on 3/4 occasions. It was warm and cosy. The double bedroom was bliss. We had the most wonderful sleeps in a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a shower over the bath and there was always lashings of hot water, at the end of a very busy day. The supermarket was about 10 minutes away and prices were very reasonable. The lakeside beach was the same distance and would be very nice to go to in the summer. We didn't get chance to visit any of the local restaurants. The area generally was very peaceful, you could go walking from the doorstep, down the lanes and see the wonderful wildlife round about. Jane was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble and you were made very welcome. Thank you and we look forward to visiting again.
