These stunning 2 and 3 bedroom apartments are located on the prestigious 5 star complex of Mar da Luz in Porto Dona Maria. Situated between Luz and Burgau, both are within a few minutes drive or a scenic walk along a costal footpath. The facilities include a communal pool, children's pool, spa with indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and fitness room. The nearby villages of Burgau and Luz have beautiful sandy beaches and numerous bars and restaurants. Luz also has supermarkets, banks and a chemist. There is a wider choice of everything in the nearby town of Lagos, which also offers historic buildings within the cobbled streets of the old town and a lively marina.

The ground floor 2 bedroom apartments have a private garden area with private pool.

Beautiful apartment and resort. Lovely stay

We have just come back from a lovely week away at Mar da Luz. Having never rented a property on owners direct before I was a little anxious but I had absolutely no reason to be, the apartment and resort were exactly as pictured and as described , we throughly enjoyed our stay here. The resort is perfectly situated, less than 5 min car drive away from the town of Luz which had a beautiful beach and some great restaurants. There were also two supermarkets which were perfectly adequate. The apartment itself was immaculately clean , very spacious and well equipped. We would defintely recommend this resort and we will def be staying here again.

Simply wonderful

Beautiful complex of apartments, a lovely view from ours, and felt really private, despite neighbours on both sides. Our apartment had a private garden and pool - well worth paying the extra for this. The accommodation was stylish, clean and had all you need for self catering. The staff were lovely and very welcoming. We had a few days just 'chillin' by our pool. We then hired bikes and explored the local area and found some amazing beaches and local restaurants.

I almost feel loathe to rate this complex because we are going back next year ....and don't want the whole world knowing about how brilliant it is!

100% Recommend this resort

Just home from the most relaxing holiday at Mar da Luz. The apartment and resort was everything it promised, all mod cons and very secure as well as being extremely clean. We had a fabulous apartment with private pool and sea view.

Porto Dona Maria and surrounding area is stunning. There are some great routes for walking or an early morning run along the coast path. We walked into Praia da Luz most days although we did hire a car which was useful for grocery shopping and a day trip to the nearby town of Lagos. There is a good selection of restaurants in Praia da luz and a beautiful beach. We also walked to Burgau one day for lunch and had an amazing lunch at the beach bar. Burgau is a very quaint little fishing village and well worth a visit.

All in all we would recommend this resort for families and couples of all ages, our only complaint is that a week was just not enough!! Thanks for everything Liz

Great apartment in a quiet location

We have had a great stay at Mar da Luz. It's an excellent location near the sea, just as promised in the advert. The area is very quiet and peaceful but only a short drive or 30ish minute walk into the town where there is a great choice of restaurants, a couple of supermarkets and a beautiful beach.

Everything was top in the apartment and we really appreciated the air-conditioning in the heat!

Everything worked fine from booking to arrival and departure.

We would really like to visit again.

Excellent Apartments

We were a party of 7 and took 2 x 2 bedroom apartments for 14 nights and 10 nights respectively. The apartments and complex were fab and catered for all within our party as we had a private pool, gym, indoor pool and outdoor pool. Liz was a pleasure to deal with and answered all our questions quickly and accurately and accomadated us with early and late check in which made everything so easy for us. The apartments and complex are clean and well maintained. The walk to Praia da Luz is lovely but with young children you need to allow about 40 minutes to get there. We had a car for some of our stay but I would recommend a car for all of it as if you want fresh rolls in the morning the nearest supermarket is in Praia da Luz which is a 50 to 60 minute walk there and back. Taxis were not easy to get either and some nights we had to wait well over an hour for one. Burgua is beautiful and well worth a visit and when I go back I would eat there in preference to Praia da Luz. All the restaurants we ate in, in Praia da Luz were very good but again you need to book your restaurants or you can be waiting a long time for a table and not all restaurants will take bookings. It was a great holiday and hopefully we will get back again soon. I would recommend it but if you have children hire a car as it will be easier. Thanks again Liz for everything

Lovely apartment and resort

We stayed in a 2 bed apartment with mezzanine and jacuzzi in May/June 2016 for 2 weeks.

The apartment is lovely, and the mezzanine and high ceilings make it feel much more spacious. We didn't use the jacuzzi as much as we thought we would but it was a nice bonus to have. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need if you want to cook. The bed was very firm leading to a few uncomfortable nights but I got used to it eventually. The balcony gets sun early morning (lovely to sit out on to eat breakfast) up until about 2-3pm and has lovely sea views.

We arrived late at night, about 11pm, but had good instructions for getting to the apartment out of hours. The resort is lovely and really well maintained, with a great shared pool area. We loved the indoor heated pool and spa/gym area for a late night swim (open till 10pm). The resort feels really safe due to having a reception and gated access, as well as electric shutters on the apartment windows. Underground car park was also a good bonus.

Housekeeping comes twice a week which is great, with a towel and linen change.

Overall a really great stay, we would definitely recommend it!

The beaches of Luz and Burgau are just a few minutes away by car or a 20 minute walk along a costal footpath. If you have a car it is well worth exploring some of the other many beautiful beaches the Algarve has to offer.

The nearest airport is at Faro which is just 60 minutes drive away. Car hire is recommended although not essential.

Porto Dona Maria is a private Resort set in a total area of 285.000 m2 of ecological/natural land. More that 40.000m2 of Porta Dona Maria is private sea front overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with fantastic views to Luz Bay and the entire coast line towards Lagos.

A fascinating walk of only 20 minutes on a rugged pathway along the Ocean will get you straight on the sandy beach + old part of Praia da Luz. A similar walk in the other Western direction will bring you to Burgau. While walking along the road into Praia da Luz you will find plenty of places to eat & drink.

The complex includes a large communal swimming and paddling pool, indoor health suite, heated pool, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath, sauna, gym and changing facilities all for residents use only. Within the spa is the reception which is open 7 days a week to help with any enquiries such as booking taxis, restaurants etc. There is also free Wifi available at the reception area. Within Porto Dona Maria there is a restaurant and snack bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Car hire is not essential but is very reasonable on the Algarve, taxi transfers are available. There is a bus stop next to the entrance for Porto Dona Maria.

Reception can arrange free delivery of groceries from the supermarket in Luz if you do not have a car.
