A large, partial cave house, with stunning, uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside as far as the Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Baza and Jabalcón mountain. Situated close to the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, the house is completely private and unoverlooked. It is on the outskirts of an attractive Andalucian village (Fontanar). It is in an elevated position above a very quiet and little-used rural road. You can simply enjoy the peaceful and tranquil setting, swimming, sunbathing and relaxing at home or use as a base to explore. The house offers cool cave rooms in summer and has a wood-burning stove for cooler spring and autumn evenings. This property is a well maintained and much-loved second home and is also used regularly by its owners.

Excellent stay!

We are a family of 5 and spent 2 weeks this summer at the beautifully located house. House and surroundings are well maintained, and the scenery while sitting at the pool, is perfect. Large fields with olive trees, and in the far distance you can see the mountains. You indeed have complete privacy.

The cave house is comfortable, and cool during the night. There are enough beds with great mattrasses. All you need in the kitchen is there.

Another nice thing with children is the availability of WIFI and a TV, which was nice during the Olympics.

I can truly recommend choosing Fontanar. Its a little village with the market on Monday. There are enough restaurants. Another nice thing is the fact that you are right in the middle of several natural parks with great lakes. Great swimming, kayaking. Food locally is superb and very affordable.

Fantastic setting

This is a lovely cave house in a spectacular setting. The house is very cool and homely. The views from the terrace are amazing. We saw a royal eagle several times as well as hoopoes. The local area is very agricultural with donkeys, olive and almond trees in abundance. The added bonus of the daily bread and pastry van was much appreciated as well as the weekly fish van.

It is close too the national park and beautiful lakes for swimming. It is a great place for a peaceful and restful stay.

Location

We decided to buy this type of property in this location for several reasons. One of us is fluent in Spanish. It is located away from the crowds and expat communities. It has good communications links to airports, major roads, coast, ski areas and rural life. The area is essentially Spanish and offers the opportunity to mix freely with the local community in a relaxing environment. It is situated in a private, unoverlooked position on the very outskirts of Fontanar surrounded by almond and olive groves The property itself is a cave reform which has been completed to a high standard, blending the original build with the new. We have lovingly furnished the house with good quality new furniture.

In this area we enjoy spectacular scenery, a variety of local flora and fauna; local markets, bars and restaurants frequented by Spanish locals. From the house you have amazing, uninterrupted views of the Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Baza and Jabalcón mountain. The house is on the edge of the Cazorla National Park which offers opportunities for swimming in lakes, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, away from the crowds. This is a peaceful location even at the height of the summer; a destination popular mainly with Spaniards but also visited by other Europeans.
