Villa in Caminha, Costa Verde, Portugal - Set In A Woodland Valley Overlooking The River Minho And A Few Minutes From Stunning Golden Beaches

Modern, detached house set in landscaped gardens with private pool. The house is part of a small and exclusive development of private homes in a beautiful and peaceful wooded valley above the River Minho with panoramic views across the River valley. The picturesque medieval town of Caminha is a few minutes drive or leisurely stroll away with it's cobbled streets, cafe culture and beautiful golden beaches. The house has three double bedrooms and two large sofa beds with an open plan living/dining room that opens out onto a large patio and barbeque area. Internally the house has been decorated in a contemporary style. The aspect of the house means that the private pool is in the sun all day and in the evening the west facing patio gives perfect views over the setting sun. For cooler/winter evenings the house has both central heating and a log burning stove and fuel is provided.

Why Mrs Carolyn Jackson-Smith chose Caminha

The house is situated in the Costa Verde a beautiful and unspoilt part of Portugal two hours flying time from most mainland UK airports and less than an hours drive from Porto airport. The area borders Galicia in Spain and the historical conflict with this country can be seen in the many ancient fortified towns and villages that flank the River Minho. To the east of the region is a spectacular national park and to the west the golden beaches of the Atlantic. Caminha is a few minutes drive from the house and is a lively medieval town sitting at the mouth of the Minho and the Atlantic ocean. The area is bustling all year with many festivals and markets. We have found it to be a year around destination, with something going on every month.

What makes this house unique

The house is in a small and exclusive development of architect designed houses set in a beautiful valley above Caminha. There is a small supermarket and two bars close by and Caminha is a few minutes drive or 1.5 km stroll. The property is an ideal location to explore the many towns and sights of both the Costa Verde and Galicia including the spectacular Santiago De Compestelo over the border in Spain. Caminha is a beautiful town set around a central square flanked by cafes selling delicious cakes and excellent Portuguese coffee. There are many restaurants to chose from and a daily fish and vegetable market. The town beach has two areas - the river and Atlantic beaches and is set by a pine forest with childrens play area, water activity centre and bars.

2012 was the first year I had rented the house out and I got feedback from everyone who had gone. You all said the same things - the house was great and exactly as per the description. You had a fantastic time and some of you (no names!) may have eaten too much cake and drunk too much fine Portuguese wine.

For those families with very small children it should be noted that the house has an open staircase and a terrace at first floor level. Outside: Enclosed landscaped gardens with mature trees and private pool (9m x 5m approx). There are two patio areas and an outside bar-be-que. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron and clothes horse. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath and beach towels together with bedlinen and tea towels are provided. The property is cleaned and linen changed weekly
