About the Owner

Porthcressa is a much loved family run holiday cottage, owned by twin sisters Claire and Sarah. It is lovingly looked after by our mother Barbara. It is full of family memories as this is where our father was born and where our great grandparents lived. It is now a place where we bring our own families to holiday and we take every chance to return to the beautiful village of Porthleven.

We have loved our week in Porthcressa; cosy, clean and very well equipped. Porthleven is a wonderful place in which to stay and we have used the cottage as a base for walking the S.W. Coastal paths. Excellent food and beer at the Atlantic Inn and the Ship! We will recommend Porthcressa as a superb holiday base.

Home from home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely holiday in Cornwall and staying at Porthcressa played a big part. The property was spotlessly clean, well maintained and blended modern comfort with traditional features very tastefully. It fitted the listing description accurately.

Most importantly I found the personal service provided by Barbara greatly enhanced the whole experience. Her friendly manner on the phone and handwritten letters to confirm the booking made the practicalities very pleasant.

The cream tea on arrival plus flowers and a welcoming card were much appreciated!

I hope we can visit again.

Great Holiday in Porthcressa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Porthcressa with our two small children and it was just great! The location and the equipment was as per descreption, the house and the garden were very well-maintained. The "children's room" is very spacious, I am sure the house is big enough for four adults or with older children, too. It was a very comfortable stay, essentials like salt and pepper or even dish liquid was provided (that is not usual in Germany!). Communicating with the owner was easy and very fast, on-site service was excellent and with a very friendly personal touch (we really enjoyed the Cornish Cream Tea after our long trip from Germany by car!).

Porthleven is just perfect for a stay with two little children: easy walking distance to the beach, supermarket, ice cream parlor, just everything you need, without using the car!

So we would highly recommend this property to our friends and family!

Porthcressa - a home from home

  • 5 of 5

Porthcressa is a lovely, well equipped and very clean house to make your home, the owner is delightful; it is right at the centre of town and perfectly situated for touring Cornwall, especially the lower half (littered with interesting places to visit & stunning scenery, excellent coastal walks & clear seas - we loved the Telegraph Museum, King Edward Mine Museum, Pendennis Castle and Chysauster ancient village).

Porthleven is full of first class places to eat (don’t over look Rolands Happy Plaice for first class fish and chips) and has three great, proper beer selling, pubs (you have to try the Ship inn, or if it's sunny just sit outside the Atlantic on it's sundeck watching the boats out at sea); and a decent Costcutter for the essentials: All this give us a perfect holiday – Highly Recommended - it was a shame we had to leave!
