About the Owner

I live with my family in the historic village of St. Peters, about a mile from Broadstairs.

I have been holiday letting for four years and have found it rewarding in terms of the range of lets and visitor satisfaction, which even bad weather at times did not dampen!

Thank you for a fabulously comfortable 'home from home' for our three week stay. Great location that is within walking distance of beach and local shops/restaurants and train station.

Had a lovely week dodging the rain clouds! The toy cupboard is fantastic, the girls loved the lego best. Beds all really comfortable and kitchen is really well equipped. We've stayed in other houses in Broadstairs and are becomimg real fans of the area. This is definately the nicest place we've stayed so far.

We have had a wonderful week in one of our favorite places Broadstairs. White Rose Lodge is perfect. Location is fab, and the all important parking space is wonderful!! We have visited three times now and White Rose Lodge is a real 'home from home' our children settled straight away.

thank you for all the extra thoughts that made our stay so comfortable.

Lovely house in perfect location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week in this place and we immediately liked Broadstairs, its Restaurants and the walks along the Coast.

The house itself provides for a nice stay and is well equipped and has three bedrooms which was very comfortable for us with two children.

However the house might have been cleaned more properly before our arrival and the owner told us this was due to our early arrival at 12 o clock. Well obviously some Spots havent been cleaned for a while so this surely wasn't the reason. We didn't want to make a big thing out of it but the owner seemed to feel quite offended.

We can still recommend the place as it has got everything you can wish for!

White Rose Lodge, Broadstairs

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely family break here from 9th to 13 th Sept 2016. There were 5 of us, my husband, daughter, son-in-law and 21 month old grandson. A very comfortable house, well equipped with beautiful paintings and antique ornaments, clean and very nicely decorated. The owners seemed to have thought of everything and my grandson loved the toys that were there, indeed the only thing we found missing were some filter papers for the coffee machine! The house was very well situated, very near the beach, cafes and shops. I'm 4 weeks in from a knee replacement and was a bit concerned about getting around, but it was fine, we even caught the Loop bus into Margate, using our bus passes! Would certainly recommend it, we were lucky with the hottest September weather for 100 yrs.

Our family had a wonderful week in Broadstairs. The house is lovely, clean, well-furnished and well-equipped and Judith left plenty of supplies for us on our arrival. Couldn't fault it. I would highly recommend it.

A real find for seaside family fun

  • 5 of 5

This was our 4th year in Broadstairs and happy to return to White Rose Lodge after trying other holiday homes nearby. This is far superior to the others we've had with a well presented, clean and tidy house, it feels like a home from home. Well stocked toy cupboard and shed mean we don't need to worry about the kids (5&8) being entertained, they love re-discovering everything. Kitchen is well stocked and everything is modern and homely with comfortable beds. Location is amazing, minutes from the beach but away from the bustle of night time on the high street. Steep steps into the garden may not make it suitable for all, but otherwise a real find. Judith is also very considerate with the welcome essentials of milk, tea and biscuits greeting us on arrival which was really appreciated. Being really picky I'd say another setee instead of the two small chairs in the living room would make evenings more comfortable. You won't regret booking this house for your holiday and though you don't need a car the parking space is a bonus if you do drive.

Functional. Needs updating to a contemporary style. Not suitable for those with limited mobility.

The house is very well situated for the shops. It is adequate in terms of having the basics. It's situated on a side road with mostly former and current local authority properties and the street was sadly untidy at the time of our visit, mostly with litter. There is a small parking space for one car outside and access up steep steps at the front. Shared access alleyway at the side. Downstairs there is a living room, which is of adequate size but very cluttered with ornaments, soft furnishings, books, etc. so difficult to relax for fear of knocking something over. It's "dressed" in an old-fashioned English style. There is a small television. The walls are very thin and we could hear the neighbours. The kitchen is small but has the basic things you need and dishwasher/washing machine/etc. It wasn't very clean and we did not use some of the pans at all because they really need a proper wash or replacing. Various food items from previous guests were still in the cupboard and there was some mouldy fruit in a bowl on the worktop. There was fresh milk in the fridge though, which was appreciated. The dining room, which is a corner of the kitchen, is tiny and it was a bit of a squeeze at family meal times. It has a shelf on the wall full of old china so be careful when you stand up if you are tall like my son! The back door step is raised, we all tripped on it. Probably just needs some red tape or something to draw the eye to it. There are steps down to a small garden, which is pretty with some nice planting and a washing line, although the fence is falling down a bit and the table is rusty and can cause cut fingers if you move it. Upstairs the main bedroom is of a good size, the bed was comfortable and there is plenty of cupboard space and a chest of drawers. The single room is pleasant, with a comfortable bed and wardrobe. The twin room is very small and there is a chest of drawers but no wardrobe. It would be fine for young children. Plenty of towels and additional blankets were available. Overall our expectations were higher, as we have had a far superior detatched property with sea views for several years at the same price, which is sadly no longer available. My advice would be to look at Streetview on google and to check the dimensions of the rooms before booking. It's all perfectly adequate, just old-fashioned, which some may love.

Recommend for family with children

  • 5 of 5

An absolutely delightful house and very close to the beach and amenities . Expect a few creaking floorboards here and there and seagull activity but it all adds to the character and stay. The house is very tastefully decorated and Judith's artwork is a joy. Judith herself is a very pleasant and lovely lady and nothing is to much trouble for her. Highly recommend this house. We stayed during folk week and it was brilliant.

From the Owner

I bought the property in 2011, and spent several months refurbishing it. The property is light and airy, newly decorated with a tasteful yet neutral palette of colours. I hope I have created a characterful home from home, with all the equipment needed for a relaxing seaside break. Broadstairs has the feel of stepping back in time, of holidays remembered, beautiful sandy beaches, white cliffs, donkey rides, small boats in the tidal harbour. A town which offers a choice of good restaurants, and a selection of individual shops, what more could you want? My property! Which is a stones throw away from it all, quietly tucked in behind the High Street.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

A three minute walk to Viking Bay, and great coastal walks in both directions, towards Margate or Ramsgate. Joss Bay the most easterly point of Kent, has a beautiful sandy beach, and is overlooked by the North Foreland lighthouse.

From the Owner

I think that taking a holiday, or short break in England has become more fashionable, and with the picturesque coastline which Thanet offers, Broadstairs it is an ideal place to stay, famed for its Dickens associations. The new Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate, has done much to regenerate the area, there is a buzz of excitement from the locals, as the coastal resort begins to improve with new cafes and galleries. Canterbury is a short 18 mile drive away, the historic cathederal is a must to see. In the same vicinity is Howletts Wild Animal Park. London is a two hour train ride away, and Broadstairs station is a 10 min walk at the top of the High Street. Dover, Deal, and Walmer all have castles to explore, Whitstabe, famous for its oysters and sea food is full of arty crafty shops.
