La Payrastrie - Spacious 3 Bedroomed House, Terrace, Swimming Pool And Grounds.

Updated: 25-Oct-2016
Wonderful Rural Location Within Haut Languedoc, Ideal Base To Explore The Region.

Located in the Tarn region of France, close to the market town of Castres, La Payrastrie is divided into 9 holiday homes within a courtyard setting with turreted towers. The house has a large terrace with lovely woodland views and is comfortably furnished with everything needed for your stay. The large shared swimming pool is accessed by a gate for the safety of young children.

The grounds of La Payrastrie lead into woodland walks -information available in the house and also in the tourist office of Montredon Labessonie. There are wonderful historic towns nearby including the medieval city of Albi, the hilltop Lautrec and the market town of Castres. Realmont also has an exceptional market on Wednesday mornings.

About the Owner

We have owned our house at La Payrastrie for over 20 years and are still discovering new places to enjoy!

La P is a house for all seasons - we have spent several Christmases arround the fire and celebrated the turn of the century with a big party with some of the other owners.

No matter how stressed, once we arrive and step out on to the terrace - instant relaxation!

In the summertime La P is a great place for kids - many of whom return year after year and update each other on facebook ( a mystery to me!)

Now that I have retired, I have started painting classes and find that the countryside and towns of the Tarn provide lots of inspiration.

Great location and character

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week at La Payrastrie and the accommodation was full of character. The courtyard setting is wonderful as this is part of a conversion of a former manoir. When we were there there was a mixture of English, French and German families there, mostly with children. The place had a real buzz about it but not in an excessively noisy way. The pool is great and the grounds are great for children to play in. The only thing that let us down was the weather, but unfortunately this can't be booked in advance.

A charming hideaway in the Languedoc

  • 4 of 5

A terrace house in an attractive courtyard in beautiful countryside with a large, well-maintained pool and sunny, private terrace. The house is comfortable with 3 bedrooms and two showers. The kitchen is a little tired but functional. The area is not too touristy but Albi and Carcassone are within easy reach. We liked the market at Castres, swimming in the nearest lake, the village outdoor evening meal was fun and there was good adventure park nearby. Very good value and a lovely place.

wonderful family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Payrastrie. We were warmly welcomed by the resident couple who look after the properties and quickly settled into this spacious, comfortable, well-equipped house. The three generations of our family all enjoyed the pool, canoeing on the nearby rivers and long walks through the enchanting countryside. Our grandson made good friends with children staying in neighbouring houses and we all enjoyed the conviviality and friendliness of our neighbours. We would recommend the house unreservedly - and we plan to return!

La Payrastrie is a unique property in a stunning location, really the "true" France - rural, friendly, unspoilt. Fabulous markets, simple restaurants serving wonderful fresh food. There are so many lovely places to explore - either on foot or by car, and just walking into the village gives an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful views and sometimes a glimse of the Pyrenees!

From the Owner

Originally an outbuilding to the main "Manoir", our house has 3 foot thick stone walls which keep the interior wonderfully cool during the hot summer days and relatively warm during the winter months. Children can safely roam around the grounds and make friends with other guests/owners. Our resident English caretakers are on hand to sort out any problems and answer any questions that may arise.
