About the Owner

After searching for nearly three years for our ideal early reitirement venture we found Teyssie which is a beautiful house and with a superb gite. I immediately knew it was the perfect home. We moved here in January 2012 and haven't looked back.

I was successfully running a pre school and my husband Gary had his own Interiors business for over 30 years.

One of the many criteria we had when house hunting was that we would have great views, and yes the views are stunning, we are surrounded by countryside and orchards. Plus as we are both golfers the Villeneuve Golf and Country Club is just a couple of minutes from us.

Now we are enjoying a different sort of work, but its a pleasure and we can go at our own pace whilst gardening and preparing the gite for our most welcome guests.

Great pool, fantastic views, very comfortable gite

  • 5 of 5

A wonderfully relaxing family holiday, thanks to the foresight of the gite owners who have equipped the gite so well and considered guests needs - such as receiving on arrival a superb 'home cooked' meal and chilled wine, very welcome after a long journey! A beautiful rural setting with lovely country views but with the benefit of good local amenities and plenty of activities nearby. Would highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review on Teyssie, we try to think of everything and the new pool has proved to be an obsolete bonus, it is a picturesque setting and you were able to appreciate the lovely sun sets. As you say its a rural setting but so easy to visit all amenities, places of interest and activities for the children. all the best Hilary & Gary

You can't go wrong here

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful 10 day here. As a family of 5, the size and layout of accomodation was perfect for us. Hilary & Gary go the extra mile and leave you all sorts of stuff you'd likely either have to go out and buy, or keep forgetting to have with you. The outside area offers plenty of space and options, with numerous areas to sit and relax, or to eat in. The pool is fabulous, situated in an old cow barn, and adds some real character. Even though you're clearly close to the main house, the property feels very private, although you might need to wave to the farmer next door about 10 times per day. Oh, and our kids loved naming one of the cows "Bernard" and shouting to him every day......holidays need a little odd stuff huh!

The surrounding area is dotted with beautiful Bastide towns, all within easy driving distance. Villeneuve sur Lot is the closest nearby town, with all the shops and facilities you'd need, and a lovely Friday evening food market in the summer.

Go, relax, enjoy, and watch out for a lovely wine infused evening of engaging chat and great company with Hilary & Gary

Teyssie: an outstanding property in a superb locat

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully made over, spacious and well-equipped, the cottage at Teyssie was a delight. The recently completed pool simply added to its appeal. Owners Hilary and Gary are welcoming (they laid on a super hot dinner for us on arrival), friendly and very happy to help. The location opens up the Lot and Dordogne valleys and their multiple attractions. Perhaps the best rental cottage I have encountered in several decades of exploring France this way.

Beautiful Countryside Gite

  • 5 of 5

What can i say the Gite was beautiful and well appointed . The owners were fantastic and really accommodating bar sorting the weather out they couldn't have done anymore.

The new pool is beautiful and a real suntrap too.

Everything within the Gite is well thought out and provided a homely base whilst we were over in France.

Kudos to the Dryhursts Teyssie is a beautiful property and they are perfect hosts by being there when required (as they only live next door) but also giving space to enjoy the privacy.

Summer holiday 2015 at Teyssie

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (2 adults & 3 boys aged 4, 11 & 14) have just returned from a 2 week stay at Teyssie. The Cottage was perfect – clean, well-equipped and comfortable with crisp, clean bedding and an abundance of towels - thank you Hilary! The pool was perfect and the boys particularly enjoyed gorging themselves on plums from the orchard during swimming breaks!

Teyssie is in a beautiful & tranquil setting and yet only 10 mins drive from Villeneuve sur Lot – which is handy for provisions or a meal out.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and Hilary & Gary were extremely friendly & welcoming throughout. Like many other guests, we are sure to return. Hilary & Gary - you have been warned !

Thank you both for a wonderful holiday in your lovely cottage.

If you decide to revisit us we will be delighted to welcome you all. With regards to the plums, yes I have to go and collect more, what a bumper crop. More jam to make! Hope the boys are looking for to their return to school!!! Kind regards Hilary & Gary

Comfort and Character

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Teyssie, and as before Hilary and Gary gave us a warm welcome after a long journey. And as before, the cottage was clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped, with breathtaking views over rolling countryside. Hilary and Gary gave good advice on local places to visit, and although this was the first week of the French school holidays, nowhere was over-crowded.

We revisited the Water Lily Gardens at Temple Sur Lot, which have a spectacular selection of water lilies set in beautiful gardens. Villereal, Pujols and Monpazier are delightful local towns, well worth a visit, and the night market (where everyone eats at long tables set in the village square) in Monflanquin was certainly an atmospheric experience. For those who like a little exercise, the lake a Lougratte a few kilometers to the north of Teyssie offers swimming and walking opportunities.

The hospitality and welcome offered by Hilary and Gary are truly outstanding and we would not hesitate to recommend this property.

Thank you for your kind words and glad you are back in the UK safe and sound. All the very best Hilary & Gary.
