Guestbook for Rosa Cottage

I had a wonderful (albeit short) break at Rosa Cottage. It was a last minute, spur-of-the-moment decision and I called the owner the day I was hoping to arrive... luckily it was available and she was very welcoming, meeting me at the front door and giving me a guided tour before leaving me to my own devices.

What an absolutely beautiful place - the photos don't do it justice at all! It's warm, colourful, and instantly feels like your own. Get the log burner stoked up (wood provided) in the evening and you don't want to leave. The main double bed (can't speak for the others) is wonderfully comfy and a struggle to get out of in the morning! An added bonus: as a classical guitarist, I wanted to get away somewhere inspirational: the high ceilings and stripped wooden floors give incredible acoustics with just the right amount of reverb - so can't recommend enough to musicians (although being terraced I'd suggest only acoustic instruments) looking for a quiet

we had a lovely time. The weather was fantastic and we visited lots of places along the Dorset coast

The property is spacious and well equipped. The house was clean and had lots of original features. Close to Portland beach. Very warm and cosy inside the house and everything we needed was included. Parking on one occasion was difficult, but there is a public car park within 2 minute walk which is free.

Spacious home in a convernient location

  • 5 of 5

Rosa Cottage is a delightful property, spacious, warm, welcoming; lovely to have a wood burning fire, all laid ready. The house was dressed for Christmas and the owner had generously left candles, logs and even a delicious bottle of red wine. All the rooms were spacious with plenty of cupboard and hanging space. The bathroom shower was excellent.

Being minutes from the beach and coastal path, (where a fabulous quirky cafe and pub offered delicious food and drink) was an important reason for us in choosing this dog-friendly holiday home.

I would suggest that a review of kitchen crockery would be helpful but I can highly recommend this delightful house.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The home is spacious, pretty and homely. Portland has some of the best views in the world. The locals are really friendly too. Would love to return. Mandie

Lovely Cottage on Portland

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Rosa Cottage for 1 week in July and had a wonderful time. The cottage is spacious and beautifully furnished and in an ideal location to explore Portland. Only a couple on minutes walk to Chesil Beach and a short drive to the Sailing Academy. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped for self catering. The beds were comfortable, and we much enjoyed the spacious dining room for long lingering suppers. Having 2 children, a separate lounge was also very handy for them to watch TV in the evenings. Parking was easy right outside the cottage most of the time, a couple of times we had to park in the road above, but still only a minute walk from the property. We very much enjoyed our stay and plan to return some time later this year.

Lovely break

  • 3 of 5

Had a lovely week at this house it was clean and very well equipped, would recommend for a short break.

The only negatives were it was half way up a very steep hill and whether going down to the beach or up to the high street my wife could not manage it and we had to use the car when we went out.

Going out for the day you should make sure you are back by about 5;30 pm as you probably will not get a parking space on this road.

Apart from these two points there are lots to see and do on the island and sitting in the cove at the bottom of the hill is wonderful and peaceful.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review Ken. We always appreciate people taking time to give us feedback on their holiday. I am glad to hear you had a good time despite some problems with the hills. I'm afraid Portland is rather steep, and I realise people with mobilty issues may struggle to get around, which is why I don't recommend the cottage for people with mobility issues. Parking right outside the cottage is usually Ok daytime, but in evenings, you may have to go to next rd up, but that's only a minute walk away, so most people find that OK. Regards, Karin

Enjoyed our stay

Rosa Cottage, which is well located for exploring the Isle of Portland, is very tastefully decorated & comfortable.

Be sure to get up onto the coastal path for stunning views of the coastline.
