5* Gold Luxury Sea Facing Garden Apartment, Parking,Wifi, Sea Views, near beach

Overview

Property

Updated: 07-Dec-2016
Luxury garden apartment, 2 mins walk to Carbis Bay Station, 1.5 miles from centre of St Ives, 5 mins walk to blue flag beach. Sea views, parking, private patio, garden, wifi

Located in the prestigious Sands Apartments on the seaward side of Carbis Bay, this luxury sea facing garden apartment has stunning uninterrupted sea views and is just a few minutes walk from the soft golden sands of the Blue Flag Carbis Bay Beach.

Rated 5* Gold by Visit Britain, this premium quality self catering apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms a fully fitted designer kitchen, two private patio areas, an allocated parking space through secure gated access, communal gardens and wifi.

Only a mile and a half from the picturesque fishing village of St Ives, arguably the most famous seaside town in Cornwall, which is easily accessed by the magnificent South West coastal path or the St Ives Bay branch line, Carbis Bay is the perfect location for a great holiday and an ideal base for exploring the many attractions that West Cornwall has to offer.

Enjoy the tranquil setting of Carbis Bay and its beautiful beach, or stroll along the magnificent South West coastal path, taking in the dramatic views of St Ives Bay, and be in St Ives in around 20 minutes or so, or hop on the St Ives Bay branch line (almost certainly the most scenic railway in the UK) and be in St Ives in just two minutes. Carbis Bay Station is just a two minute walk from Sea Shells. The advantage of staying in Carbis Bay is that you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of St Ives, without the hassle of traffic and parking (many of the properties in St Ives do not have parking facilities and public spaces are limited), and during peak season driving through the centre of St Ives can be a challenge! The beauty of Carbis Bay is that you really don’t need to use your car unless you want to explore further afield as you can catch the branch line and be in St Ives in just a couple of minutes.

Carbis Bay itself has a fabulous blue flag beach, a good safe family holiday beach with lifeguard cover usually available between May and September, there’s a beach cafe / restaurant & takeaway as well as a local shop, fish & chip shop, pub, restaurants, etc. There are also spa facilities within walking distance, and a choice of golf courses within a two mile radius (including West Cornwall golf Club, probably one of the finest links courses in Cornwall). Water sports, including kayaking and stand up paddle boards, are available in Carbis Bay, with surfing lessons available in St Ives or at nearby Gwithian. Carbis Bay, just a mile and a half away from the bustling centre of St Ives, is the perfect base for a memorable holiday.

St Ives has an abundance of art galleries, fine restaurants and a choice of golden sandy beaches, sparkling azure seas and its charming working harbour so it’s no wonder it is one of the UK’s favourite holiday destinations. Its unique quality of light provides inspiration to artists, poets and writers all year round. Visitors will be captivated by the light, and mesmerised by the beauty of the award winning beaches, the maze of cobbled streets and quaint fisherman’s cottages, and will be charmed with the blend of designer shops and quaint traditional tea rooms which all seem to sit together in perfect harmony.

Warmed by the Gulf Stream, this part of West Cornwall enjoys its own micro climate and has a real Mediterranean feel about it; the sub tropical plants make Carbis Bay a joy to visit all year and we are able to offer short breaks out of peak season (please ask for more details), whether you are looking for a family getaway, a quiet romantic break for two, or an action packed holiday with friends.

Sleeping 4 (+ an infant in a cot) this premium quality holiday apartment boasts fabulous uninterrupted sea views from its 8 feet patio doors. Furnished to a very high standard throughout, Sea Shells has the advantage of having a private patio area on the seaward side of the property, with direct access to the communal gardens, as well as benefitting from a south facing, fully enclosed sunny rear terrace. The sea facing patio has a table and four chairs, whilst the sunny rear terrace has a table, four chairs and sun loungers.

The spacious open plan living accommodation has leather sofas, matching modern light oak furniture, hand-made curtains and soft furnishings, 42” flat screen Panasonic Smart TV, DVD, Denon stereo system with i-pod dock, a well stocked fully fitted designer kitchen, under-floor heating, mood lighting, wireless internet access, as well as a good selection of books, games and DVD’s to keep everyone entertained!

The two roomy bedrooms (one king size bed and two singles) both have flat screen TV’s, matching light oak furniture, good quality mattresses, crisp white bed linen and plenty of soft towels.

There is a sumptuous fully tiled en-suite shower room plus a family bathroom, also fully tiled, with a smart, sleek contemporary Italian basin, toilet and bath, streamlined taps and a heated towel rail.

Sea Shells is a non smoking property and we regret that no pets are allowed.

"We've had a lovely time at Sea Shells this week and even enjoyed a bit of an 'Indian Summer' with sunshine (& sunburn for one of us!), the apartment is so well situated and equipped that it really felt like a 'home from home'. Thank you for your hospitality, welcome pack & additional 'supplies' - it really made for a memorable 1st anniversary".

Amazing apartment & a gorgeous sea view

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful time we have had! The weather has been mixed but we were blessed with staying in this extremely comfortable apartment, it really is home from home and so much better than the photos suggest. Everything about it has been carefully thought out and we really appreciated the attention to detail and that the apartment was spotlessly clean.

We have been visiting Cornwall for some time and we love it. This apartment is in such a superb location it really does tick all of the boxes.

Carbis Bay itself is beautiful and the apartment is in a nice quiet position. There are fabulous coastal walks in both directions and we made good use of the thermos flask and picnic set. We ate out most evenings but when we did stay in it was so easy as everything we needed was there - even a rack of herbs & spices to use.

The sea views from the loung are divine and we loved looking out across the gardens to the ocean, which is just mesmerising. Drawing back the curtains and seeing that view is a great way to start the day!

We had some lovely lazy lunches in St Ives and visited several beach cafes - Porthminster a favourite but all were good with amazing scenery. We walked into St Ives along the coastal path several times, and after a lazy lunch and a few drinks we caught the train back (very easy). We also tried some of the restaurants in Carbis Bay and really enjoyed fish and chips from Becks, tapas from La Cassitta and we had a great pizza one lunch time from the Carbis Bay beach cafe (great view there too!)

All in all a fantastically relaxing holiday in a lovely apartment. Just what we needed and can't wait to go back.

Modern, well equipped condo

  • 4 of 5

Two couples stayed in this clean, modern and very well equipped condo outside of St. Ives. Fay was exceptionally responsive via email and had a lovely welcome basket on our arrival. We appreciated the directions she sent us after telling us that our GPS would not work in this area! There was an enormous amount of information about the appliances and the area. This location was not ideal for us because we had to drive to everywhere, including to restaurants. You must have a car at this location. We also had expected an ocean view from the condo and were disappointed that there was none.

A fabulous apartment in an amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

Sea Shells is an absolutely wonderful apartment in a fantastic location. It literally had everything we could think of and more! It was spotlessly clean, even bigger than it looks in the photos and in a brilliant location in Carbis Bay. The welcome pack was great and, as a family of four, we were really delighted with both the comfort of the accommodation and the convenience of being able to walk to the beach.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We're delighted you had such a great holiday and really pleased you enjoyed the apartment. We think it's in a great location too, but then again we are biased as we absolutely love the area. Sounds like you had a busy half term, and it's great that you were able to enjoy so many different water-sports even in October. I hope the SUP-boarding lived up to your expectations! We hope to welcome you back to Sea Shells again at some point in the future.

Five Star Plus!!

  • 5 of 5

Great apartment , super location and the most organized and detailed welcome and information book I have ever seen in many years of renting holiday apartments. A 10 minute walk to a beautiful quiet beach and if you want more action a delightful walk along the coastal path to St.Ives, if you don't care to walk the train station is 5 minutes away and will have you there in no time at all.

Having a private parking space is a real bonus for day trips or shopping at the nearby superstore.

Milk, tea and coffee plus a bottle of Champagne were a great welcoming gifts on our arrival after a long days travel there.

Everything you will need is in the apartment including things to entertain the children both in the apartment and for the beach.

Would certainly recommend this to for anyone wanting a holiday with easy beach access and good geographic location to cover this beautiful part of Cornwall.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to write a review - we're delighted to hear that you and your family had such a good time in Carbis Bay, and pleased to hear that after traveling from America you were very happy with everything. We are passionate about Sea Shells and have tried to create a real 'home from home' for everyone, including the children, as we find if the children are happy on holiday then the adults can relax and enjoy themselves too! We look forward to welcoming you back to Sea Shells if you are ever in this part of the world again. Best wishes to you all.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We booked this apartment in Carbis Bay for a long weekend. This was my first booking through the HomeAway website which my daughter came across. The owner kept in touch with me and replied immediately to any questions I had before our visit. Little personal touches by the owner, like a card to welcome us by name, some goodies and lots of leaflets about the area just added to the pleasure of renting this place. This amazing flat is very spacious ( definitely larger than the average UK flat), modern and very, very well kept. I think it looks better in real life than the pictures in the internet! Everything is extremely well organised and everything we needed for a self catering holiday was there. The views from the living room to the sea, of this ground floor apartment, are superb and just added to the lovely feel of this place The luxury of having an allocated car park space in a gated parking place was great. The train, running from St. Ives to Penzance, and the beautiful beach of Carbis Bay were minutes away but watch out for the very steep hill, which my elderly mother did not manage.

I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and hope to stay there again one day.

When the tide is low you can walk around the rocky edges at Carrack Gladden and enjoy miles of soft sands at Porth Kidney Sands.

Just a mile and a half away, St Ives has a great choice of four golden sandy beaches, including the blue flag Porthmeor Beach (great for surfing) and the blue flag Porthminster Beach (a good safe family beach) as well as the Harbour Beach (very sheltered and a perfect suntrap) and Porthgwidden (a delightful sandy cove with a great beach cafe!). Surfers can take their pick from a wide selection of beaches in the surrounding areas to suit their level of ability – Gwithian is a real favourite and is about a 10-15 minute drive away).

Further Details:

Carbis Bay itself is a tranquil setting with the most beautiful blue flag beach. It also has a fish & chip shop, beach cafe, restaurants, pub, local shop etc.

St Ives is renowned for its quality of food, light and innovation and has an abundance of cosmopolitan restaurants, cafes, art galleries and beautiful scenery. Whether you are looking for a traditional Cornish breakfast, a fine dining experience or afternoon tea, there is something for everyone from world class restaurants to supreme takeaways.

The advantage of staying in Carbis Bay is that you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of St Ives, without the hassle of traffic and parking as during peak season driving through St Ives itself can be a challenge!

The beautiful South West Coastal path runs through Carbis Bay, and it's around a twenty min walk along the path into St Ives. For more energetic walkers, the walk from St Ives to Zennor is truly outstanding (although it's not for the faint-hearted).

There are several coastal walks available nearby, all with spectacular scenery, to suit all abilities. Visit www.southwestcoastalpath.com to plan your route.

Watersports are available locally - Carbis Bay beach offers water and beach based activities from Ocean Sports, including single and double kayaks, 4 & 6 man Hawaiian canoes, plus Canoe Surfing - a real experience! Surfing lessons are available at Porthmeor Beach in St Ives, and for those who want a bit more of a thrill, why not try Coasteering or Rock Climbing – Kernow Coasteering offer some great courses around the Lands End Peninsula

Suring available at Porthmeor Beach (2 miles), Godrevy (8 miles), Gwithian (6 miles), Praa Sands (12 miles), Sennen Cove (15 Miles), Porthcurno (18 miles).

Horse Riding is available at the Penhalen Trekking Centre and School in Hasletown (2 miles).

This part of Cornwall has a worthy reputation for Bird watching - local RSPB sites at Hayle Estuary (6 miles) & Marazion Marsh (8 miles).

Lots of great Cornish villages and places to visit nearby, inc. Mousehole, Newlyn, Marazion, Pendeen, The Lizard, Sennen Cove and many more all within a short drive. Doc Marten fans might like a day out to Port Isaac, about an hour away, another beautiful Cornish village well worth exploring.

If you’ve been glued to Poldark this year, you’ll definitely want to visit Church Cove, a beautiful spot and not difficult to see why it was used as one of the filming locations for the hit series. Just 16 miles away it’s well worth a visit (take a picnic!)

Goldolphin Gardens, Helston, 8 miles

Trengwainton Gardens, Penzance, 10 miles

Trewidden Gardens, Penzance, 11 miles

Bonython Estate Gardens, Lizard Oeninsular, 18 miles
