Hendra Barn is the flagship of three properties at Hendra Barns resort, near the village of Mitchell, located close to Newquay and Truro in Cornwall.

This holiday property is high;y finished to offer relaxation with quality surroundings. Hendra Barn is ideally situated with the A30 only 2 miles away giving you the opportunity to discover Cornwall to the full.

Guests of the three properties have exclusive use of the 2.5 acres, including the lakeside arbour for evening dining and coarse fishing on the lakes.

It's all about relaxing in Cornwall enjoying the quality surroundings and soaking up the atmosphere. The Garden room gives you space to relax and take in the surrounding views. This Barn makes for a memorable holiday. Throw open the doors onto the patio which wraps itself around the barn to enjoy the views or light the wood burning stove on a chilly evening and relax in front of the fire. This well equipped holiday home stands in maintained gardens and looks down on a picture post card lake which can be fished. Delightful pub nearby. Several Footpaths are in the immediate area for keen ramblers. The Barn is in a central position with the A30 only 2 miles away. It’s a short drive to many of Cornwall’s attractions such as the Eden project, Fiscal beach in Newquay, Watergate bay and City of Truro. Crantock being a firm favourite with many of our guests. Cornwall also has some of the most amazing gardens to visit.

I have owned Hendra Barns for more than 17 years and over that time have put my heart and soul into this beautiful place. It has been a joy to work on these old buildings and bring them back to life. Hendra keeps me busy with the every day jobs. It's a pleasure as the setting is peaceful as well as relaxing, I am always around to ask advice as I live 200 yards away up the lane in Keepers Cottage..

"I stayed at Hendra Barn with my wife, her mother, the kids, grandchildren and our dogs. The place was perfect for us all, a very central location but quite and rural. Stunning views across farmlands. The proprietor was on site, very friendly and always around but I always felt relaxed and he went to great efforts to ensure that this was our cottage and our holiday. The property is in splendid isolation yet close enough to the main A30 to allow easy access to all areas of the north & south coasts. The house was spacious & the upper decked balcony was perfect to view the stars at night as there is no light pollution. Perfect holiday destination."

Great property, very well presented.

Very spacious property which swallowed 6 adults, 6 children and a dog with ease. There would have been enough space for the children to play indoors without getting under the feet of the adults even if we'd had to stay indoors. As it was we had glorious weather and made the most of nearby beaches and the extensive grounds.

The barn is furnished to a very high level.

The owners were attentive and provided scones etc for a cream tea on arrival - a very nice touch, and they were on hand to check whether the holiday was progressing ok throughout our week.

Great Place to Stay

Had a great time staying at Hendra Barn and Ken was the perfect host and really made you feel at home. Loved the barn and so did all the family that were there to celebrate an important birthday. Would recommend a stay here and looking forward to coming back at some time. The welcome pack was great and really appreciated.

Hendra is a place you will relax. Soak up the atmosphere, unwind with views that can only please as it is surrounded by the country side. This is an ideal situation as we have easy access to the A30 but are only 2 minutes away from Hendra and it's beautiful location.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Clay pigeon shooting is available as well as Game Shooting in season.

Our lake is stocked with carp and can be fly fished, we can arrange sea angling from Falmouth for 10. Tuition is available for both.

Coast/Beach:

Newquay beaches 6 miles

Perranporth beach 6 miles

Crantock beach 6 miles

We are located near the A30 and so this makes for the perfect location as we are in easy reach of so many beaches and attractions.

Travel:

Newquay Airport 9 miles

Truro Train Station 7 miles

If traveling by Car we are off the A30 at Carland Cross and are 2 miles down a country lane into a peaceful rural setting.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Hendra Barn is 140 years old and has slate floors and is built of traditional Cornish stone and granite. The Garden room is large and has oak flooring with under floor heating, it is the main room in the accommodation as it has an oak table and chairs within it as well as the kitchen opening onto it so works well as a sociable space for all with views to the open landscape which surrounds this beautiful Barn and its setting. There are all double glazed windows fitted. Accommodation is light and airy with high beamed ceilings, wood featuring throughout the barn. We have just refurnished this property to a high standard. The Bed linen has been hand picked to give you a luxury feel. The grounds are mainly laid to lawn and we have a fishing lake for those who would like to have a go, Tuition is available but we will need notice. The rooms are styled to give an individual feel to each of them and the beds have been made by Ken from oak as have the bedside tables. Outside: The large gardens surround the barn and are mature featuring a lake on the lower side (fishing available), a barbecue is available to use on the extensive patio area which is wrapped around the garden room from which you can open double doors onto this area making it an ideal location for evening meals. Many sunsets have been enjoyed from here. The lake is mainly used for fly fishing and tuition can be arranged with notice for your stay. There are many fishing ponds locally for those who are keen fishermen. We can also arrange sea angling for up to 10 people, Full days and half day trips leaving from Falmouth. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge freezer. Double tap sink, ironing board and iron. cloths horse. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided. Other: The bedrooms are light and have been decorated in classic colours. All equipped with hairdryers, mirrors. The bed linen is of high quality. One of the larger room are on the ground floor and this is suitable for a family with daybed and room for a cot.
