Brand new luxury apartment completed in 2012. Chez Ali enjoys the prime location of the area with stunning views from all sides. In the winter access to the piste is a 50m walk to the telecabin with ski-back to the car park at the end of the day. In the summer you are situated at the foot of the mountain range and within easy distance of all the village restaurants and facilities. Evian (lake side Leman/Geneva) is 12 km down the mountain and easy driving access to mountain ranges from Verbier on the Swiss side to Morzine on the French side within an hour. Milan is a 2 hour drive, Thollon Les Memises is very much Central Western Europe.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at our property. I'm Ketts own property in France and Portugal. I have two children aged 16 and 13 and chose the properties to suit our own wishes and requirements.

In Portugal Luz offers everything a family needs for a great holiday and of course a dedicated swimming pool. Golf courses close by.

In France we struck lucky finding Thollon Les Memises as it is an authentic French village in the alps. Excellent for both Winter and Summer holidays. Evian water originates in Thollon, it has its own ski-resort with access to some of the finest ski-resorts in France and Switzerland in an hour’s drive.

We have tried to make the properties a home from home but with a local feel. We enhance them each year in order to retain high standards.

Why Clive Ketteridge chose Thollon-les-Mémises

When we bought Chez Ali we already knew Thollon as we have had property here since 2005 (FR9826). Thollon has its own ski-resort and is very family friendly. Our children are welcome throughout the village and are able to practice their French with the locals. The apartment was part of a hotel re-development by a British company and we liked the high quality and space not often found by French built apartments that we had seen. On arriving in Thollon (2004) in the Summer it was very clear this was a lovely area. We have since spent many weeks in summer and winter. It is a friendly authentic French alpine village and within easy access of, well, the rest of Europe!

What makes this apartment unique

Chez Ali is an ideal base for out and about Summer holidays and ideal for beginner and family skiing. My family can be considered advanced skiers now and we still enjoy Thollon but have the option to drive to many larger resorts in no time at all from Verbier in Swizerland to Porte du Soleil in France. All is aspects of skiing are cheaper in Thollon than the major resorts and yet by law the ski-school standards for example are identical but with much better views. Then there is the Evian water connection, not many people can say they bath in Evian water! As a bonus the Telecabin is on the doorstep (50m) and across the road from restaurants and shops, yet it is very pieceful with views across Lake Geneva/Leman to Switzerland and of course our own Memises piece of French-alps.

Special interest holidays:

Skiing, mountain pursuits and all the activity available for tourists around Lake Geneva are easily accessible. This includes trips on the Swiss railways and endless other activities for all ages.

Coast/Beach:

On the door step on the mountain but also within easy driving distance of inland lakes for swimming and at Evian the 'beach front' with pool swimming or access to lake Leman/Geneva itself. Great value - Water skiing also available.

Travel:

Geneva Airport is about 60km and an hour away on a good day average 1 hour 15mins. In an hours drive one can find themselves deep into the Swiss or French Alps and even through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Italy.

Distances:

Evian-Les-Banis is 12 km down the mountain, Verbier and Morzine an pleasant hour drive away. Milan 2 hours. Thollon-Les-Memises is very central.

Further Details:

There are ample restaurants all very good. There is a supermarket, laundrette and bars within a 2 minute stroll. There is playground for the kids or in the winter sledging takes place behind Les Resident Gentianes near the foot of the piste.

Fantastic location, great facilities.

Having visited Thollon a number of times this apartment was undoubtably in the best location we have stayed in, less than 2 mins walk to the lift - this was great for the kids. Also very convenient for the shops, bars and restaurants yet peaceful and relaxing.

The apartment was really clean, comfortable, warm and well equipped which contributed greatly to a really enjoyable stay which we will no doubt repeat.

Thollon is a great skiing location which suits all our abilities and offers great value for money - couldn't recommend highly enough - a beautiful location and great accommodation.

Winter wonderland

Dear Clive,

I unsuccessfully tried yesterday to use the previous email contact but didn't have any luck. I wanted to let you know that we had two units available in Thollon over Xmas and my son and his family of three boys were to stay in the other unit. However we arrived rather late and we having difficulties obtaining keys to the other apartment and my son and family moved into your apartment, so we had three children staying there as well, and I don't know if there is an extra charge. If so please let me know and I am happy to fix you up for it.

As for your unit it was far more suited for a family that the other. Although there wasn't a lot of snow there was still enough for the children to have a little ski, and the unit was ideal and fully equipped for family use. It was immaculately maintained, and the location and view were probably the best in Thollon. I would happily recommend the unit to family and friends, and would hope to rent it again ourselves sometime in the future. Thollon itself is such a fantasy location with wonderful views over the lake, has a lovely village atmosphere and so close to Evian, Lusanne and Geneva. The customer service and helpful advice from the owner was also very much appreciated.

Owner's Response: I thought there was a massive amount of laundry used for the original number of guests. It sounds as if you had no choice but to accommodate the boys, everyone would have done the same. The laundry bill will be higher but you respected my home so I'll deal with that. I have access to other apartments in Thollon including no.5 (2 bed)opposite no.8 so if you book far enough in advance you could stay close together in the future . It was a shame about the lack of snow but as you say access to other resorts is simple and a pleasant drive away, in fact we too went to the Glazier 3000 too ourselves. Thollon is just as beautiful in the summer too!

Close to ski lifts and slopes

Apartment was clean, provided everything you could need for a cosy week in the mountains and the views were to die for! Owner could not do enough to accommodate our requests.

Perfect for a small family or couple looking to enjoy a relaxed holiday in the alps. Thollon is a small but friendly village with more than enough restaurants to keep your interest. Try John Jaques for good food and friendly atmosphere

The perfect place in Thollon

For our ski break this apartment was the perfect place. Very easy to get to from Geneva airport.

Once in the resort you soon realise that there isn't a better located apartment. Everything is located so close. The ski hire shop and lift are no more than a few paces away. At the end of the day We could ski right up to the chalet door.

The supermarket, restaurants and bars are also very close. There is a good choice of restaurants and the bars are very civilised.

The chalet was spotless with spacious accommodation for our party. 3 bedrooms AND 3 bathrooms so no queues when getting ready. The kitchen and sitting room had everything we needed.

Lovely terrace too!

The views when up the mountain were superb. You'd be hard pushed to find a more impressive panoramic of Lake Geneva.

I've recommended it to family and friends and will definitely be looking to stay there again for future ski breaks.

Les Gentianes, Thollon, Great Location

New apartment in a great location with private parking on the door step. Ideal for a summer or winter stay only a few steps from the new gondola taking you straight up the mountain. 3 reasonably sized bedrooms, all with shower/bath facilities and a spacious open plan kitchen/lounge/diner with balcony and views across the roofs to lake Geneva below. Stayed during the summer when the gondola was running, fantastic views from the top of the mountain and a good café for a snack, well worth a few euros to make the trip. The apartment is ideally located for all the local bars and restaurants in the village and the small well stocked supermarket. A great base for summer walks or winter skiing, booking was easy and the owner extremely helpful - highly recommended
